Had a wonderful evening having Durian as dinner here with Best Friends!!! We had 2 packets of 貓山王 Mao Shang Wang, & 3 packets of 紅蝦 Red Prawn Durian. There were 4 of us. We had them fresh as they just arrived today. They were really good, totally flavorful and the texture was out of this world!!! We couldn't stop eating. We were happy because the 'hood' (seed) of the durian were really small for the 紅蝦 Red Prawn Durian. Businesses were non-stop with lots of Durian Desserts. I think I have to come back again!!!

For those who like really sticky durians! This is the textbook version of good durians and if you are mainstream, this should be your go-to place for durians. Just go for the bittersweet one and not the bitter-wet ones. The latter is just the slightly inferior version of the former, but sold at the same price. Unfortunately for me, I’m an oddball and like overly runny and bitter to the point of alcoholic durians. Hence, I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else does. Having said that, this is likely the top 3 durians places in Singapore, try it to understand!

I pre-ordered the Black Thorn durian on their official website for $60 a box. The price is definitely on the high side, but the quality was worth it — very sweet and nicely soft and sticky.

I’ve always been a loyal customer at Ah Seng Durian, especially for their waffles and ice cream, but I was disappointed during my recent visit. To my surprise, they now charge $0.20 just to borrow an extra plate. It’s not about the amount, but more about the principle. As a regular customer, I didn’t expect such a charge for something so basic – especially from a place I’ve supported many times. Small details like this make a big difference in how customers feel about service. It’s the little things that either make people want to return, or think twice next time.

2 out of 3 boxes of Red Prawn variety are "watery" durians with soft and runny fresh. The durian Chendol lacks the gula melaka richness taste.

The food was okay, but the staff behaved as if we owed them a living. Believe me, not a single one welcomed us or even said “Please come again” when we left. Not that it mattered much to us — I totally understand they were probably very busy… despite the plenty of empty seats on a weekday. In fact, when the five of us walked in, it felt like we were completely invisible. No one greeted us, no one bothered to acknowledge us. Strange experience, really. Hahaha.

Durian isn’t for me (not for lack of trying), but my brother wanted to visit and try durian on his trip and loved this spot. They were very friendly and the online reservation was easy 🙏

We decided to visit Ah Seng Durian based on recommendations from friends and their reputation for offering excellent quality durians. Cycling from Punggol to ensure we arrived before their 10:00 pm closing time, we made a reservation just in case. Upon our arrival, we were delighted to find that our three Black Thorn durians, two Golden Phoenix, and three Mao Shan Wang durians were ready and waiting for us, all prepped and beautifully boxed. The quality of the durians surpassed our expectations, with each variety offering a delightful burst of flavor. The honesty of the seller added to our positive experience. The ambiance of the place was excellent, with comfortable seating enhancing our enjoyment. Besides the durian stall, there is a dessert store offering a range of durian and ice cream treats. In addition, the durian stall owner recommended a specific eating order for us - starting with the Black Thorn, followed by the Golden Phoenix, and finishing with the Mao Shan Wang. He explained that this sequential tasting journey, from light to strong flavor profiles, would enhance our overall durian experience. Overall, the setup, ambiance, and, most importantly, the quality of the durians make Ah Seng Durian a standout choice. This place is definitely worth a visit for durian enthusiasts and those looking for a memorable durian experience.
