Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum

Nice museum about the culture, history & life of the Seminole peoples of the Big Cypress region. Interesting movie before start of museum is worth the watch. The museum, though small is well appointed & provides a glimpse into the lives of the Seminole. There is a great one mile boardwalk through the cypress dome with a ceremonial ground, Seminole village & hunting camp along the boardwalk. There are numerous plaques alone the walk to inform about the plant’s & wildlife of the cypress dome. Worth the stop if in the area.

Wonderfully educational experience. Both kids (10) and (7) enjoyed learning about the history of the Seminole people. Eye opening experience. Beautiful walk through the Everglades on a boardwalk. ADA accessible.

What a gem in South Florida. You want to understand history of the Seminole tribe you come here. This place was breathtaking. I was just bored at work scrolling through Google maps and stumbled upon this museum. My fiance and I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty. We didn't understand why so we walked in with an open mind and boy were we in for a treat. You start off with a beautiful video about the start of the Seminole tribe in Florida and than you walk around learning about them through a mutltide of art and information boards. Once you finish the inside museum you than get to go outside and walk there boardwalk. It's about a mile long boardwalk through acres of swamp land. Learning about all the animals and birds and plants native to the land and how they used them. In the end we were very happy and would recommend everyone to make the drive to visit. We didnt include videos and photos of the inside or the boardwalk so you all can go and see it for yourself!

Attended yearly Art Festival. It was a sure treat. Hearing the Seminole tell their story is mesmerizing... So much respect for every aspect of life... The goodness is contagious! Everyone should take a trip! Its worth it!

Lovely place. Amazing. You learn so much of their culture in just a visit. Friendly people., and their store is beautifully displayed. So many souvenirs to choose from. A place to visit with family and friends. Highly recommended

Absolutely worth the $10 admission – and even more! This museum offers a surprisingly rich and educational experience. The visit starts with an 18-minute film about the history and culture of Florida’s Seminole Indians, followed by access to around four exhibit halls featuring realistic mannequins and displays that vividly recreate daily life in a Seminole village. After the indoor tour, you can enjoy a peaceful 30-minute walk along a boardwalk through the park grounds, adding a relaxing and immersive outdoor touch to the visit. Highly recommended if you’re driving through the area — don’t just pass by! Also, I want to give a special mention to the lovely woman at the front desk — incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful.

This museum is housed in a beautiful building. It's very nice and interesting. They start you off with an 18-minute film in a large auditorium-style room. It's shown on 4 large screens, and is a bit difficult to follow as each screen is simultaneously showing you different footage. During our visit, there was a work crew cleaning, and because of that, there was a large portion of the museum that we could not visit. That was disappointing, and I feel that information and cleaning dates should be stated on their website, where we purchased our tickets in advance. Ticket prices are very reasonable. We skipped the outside portion of the museum due to a tight time schedule, but that looked like it would be great as well.

Very nice museum with highly recommended introductory film. Definitely off the beaten path but worth it. We really enjoyed the well maintained mile-long boardwalk thru the wooded area behind the museum. Lots of signs explaining nearby vegetation and animal life along the way. Ate lunch a few miles away at the Swamp Water Cafe which we enjoyed.

Great little museum about the Seminole tribe in Florida. Came here over the weekend on a weeklong trip in Florida. I had learned about the Seminole tribe in school, and have been long fascinated by the history of the tribe (past and present) in Florida. My friend and I got in around 4 pm (they close at 5pm), so we missed the boardwalk. However, the front staff were very helpful and got us in immediately so that that we could watch the intro 18-minute video and then proceed to the rest of the exhibit thereafter. The museum showcases the history of the Seminole tribe and highlights various aspects of culture (including things like food, trade, arts, clothing). Part of the museum has artwork from painter Jimmy Osceola (no photos allowed in this part of the museum), which were absolutely beautiful and vivid in color! Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $7.50 for students. IMO, well worth the money as it provided a good understanding of Seminole history and culture, all in one small space. The boardwalk would have been a nice place to visit (if I got there earlier) - hopefully next time!

A great small museum. The video at the start gives an amazing introduction to the history of the Seminole people, how they came to Florida, and what is happening today. Great exhibits that you can wander around at your own pace with interactive displays. We didn't get to experience the boardwalk, because a Florida panther mother & child had been spotted in the area (both for our safety and theirs), and we were given a discount by the really friendly staff. They have a lovely statue garden outside which you can wander around too, and a gift shop that sells Seminole clothing, crafts, jewellery and much more.

Took a group of 26 people here today, dads and daughters. A really nice museum with interesting stuff inside. The tour through the swamp on the boardwalk was really nice plenty of shade and cool things to see.

We visited this museum recently and were blown away by the experience. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and able to field all of our questions. The exhibits in the museum are fascinating and so authentic. Seminole history & culture is beautiful and worth preserving. Everyone Florida resident should experience this museum.

What a great museum. The beginning video is informative and interesting without being too long and the exhibits are really well done. Sadly the weather wasn't conducive to doing the boardwalk but judging from the amount of wildlife in the pond in the front of the museum (alligators, birds, and turtles) I'm sure it would have been a great walk. The drive out here is nice too; take a detour and you can drive down some back roads to see a ton of alligators. This is a great day trip from Ft Lauderdale or Miami!

Really nice museum. They offer guided tours or you can walk through the facility at your own pace. Inside the museum there's also a research center for those that are looking to do genealogy or tribal research. After touring inside, you are able to walk the grounds outside where there are also artifacts and stations to visit. I'm looking forward to visit again when there's a Pow wow or a festival of some sort. For what's offer, the price is right.
