The museum gives interesting insights into the archaeological history of the region and displays a number of interesting exhibits. It also contains two rooms displaying armoury, one if which is fine but not too compelling. The other seems to have been filled with old junk, and the exhibits are not even properly labeled and dated.
Both rooms containing the sculpture gallery, however, contain excellent exhibits (dating from 8th to 15th centuries, of which quite a few make the visit wortwhile, aside from the prehistoric exhibition.
In short, the museum can be visited in around an hour; the entry fee is only 100 rupees. It is in a dedicated building and not to be confused with the rather large open-air site with the royal cenotaphs just next to it. The latter is impressive and rather large and requires no entrance ticket, but it is not in a good state as it has obviously suffered from complete neglect over time.
