Like any small bar in Tokyo, a punish to get into. Showed up at 18:05 and still had to wait in line for 45 mins. Grab a drink from the 7-11 next door and enjoy the wait because it’s worth it. Top dishes are the pate, octopus and avocado and hummus and radish, the pork, actually you pretty much can’t go wrong with anything.

Ahiru is my ideal neighborhood wine bar and I would have visited a few times if it wasn’t so hard to get into—the space is tiny and the bar is super popular. It was absolutely worth waiting outside in the cold for nearly an hour and a half for a tight seat at the bar. The wine list is amazing and the onion flatbread was delicious and I have dreamed about both twice since getting back to Rome.

Utterly Overrated – A Masterclass in Wasting Time If you enjoy waiting in line for hours just to stand while you eat, this is your place. Ahiru Store has somehow turned basic inefficiency into a cult experience. After a painfully long wait outside, you finally squeeze into a space so cramped they couldn’t fit five stools even if they tried. “Cozy” isn’t the word — it’s claustrophobic. Once inside, the real endurance test begins: a glass of wine might arrive after 30 minutes, food after an hour and a half (yes, even a simple hummus plate). The queue outside isn’t because the food is exceptional — it’s because everything moves at a glacial pace. There’s no English menu, no effort to explain the dishes, and yet when they want to, they suddenly speak perfect English — usually to tell you that what you ordered isn’t available. Ordering here feels like trying to solve a riddle while someone sighs impatiently next to you. The wine list is fine, the food acceptable, but nothing remotely worth the ordeal. The hype surrounding this place is baffling — Tokyo has hundreds of wine bars where you can actually sit, be served within the hour, and not leave wondering why you just sacrificed your evening to a concept built entirely on pretentious scarcity. In short: Ahiru Store is not a hidden gem. It’s a hidden trap.

Overhyped, claustrophobic trap is what it was. Food was truly mediocre at best, some plates were portioned ok if you are used to paying North American price standards. Wine selection, I understand it’s about preferences but this time I realized why some people call natural wine a flavoured vinegar, I often drink natural wines but these were not… it. No other language than Japanese are accepted here, making it very difficult to understand the menu. I ended up letting the server to choose for us, with exact budget (turns out it was cash-only business), which was not respected. I also requested a wine to be taken back as it was unbearably tasteless, but that was also included in the bill. Oh yeah, they don’t let you taste the wine you order, just straight-up pouring. Later I asked about these, but their response was “oh he did not understand”, yeah no shit. This was a bad, bad dining experience. I’d rather recommend spending your money at Egg tarts bakery nearby, and buy 30 natas instead of whatever this place is. 왜 내추럴 와인을 싫어하는 사람들이 있나 깨닫게 되는곳. 말도 안되게 비좁고, 음식은 평범하고, 일본어가 안되면 의사소통은 기대하지 마시라. 그냥 가지 마시라. 아 후회된다.

Cool place. As a foreigner i had some trouble understanding what i am ordering, but the staff was helpful and friendly. The wine was great! The food was hit or miss - I personally loved ther ceviche!

The height of rudeness. Speaking Japanese to foreigners as if it’s only natural, walking away, and shutting the door in the face of someone who’s been waiting, all of this is exhausting and inconsiderate to those who’ve waited a long time. They also handle the bread with bare hands after touching other things, so it’s up to the customers to decide if that’s acceptable.

Great wine and food. It's a small place so you might feel cramped. We went there around 17:00 but had to wait for about an hour. Staff are very nice and friendly. Food was pricy despite the small portion size. Overall, I think this place is a little overrated.

Love this place and a part of me wants to keep this location secret (bit too late anyways). We came at 4.30 pm and were lucky to get the last available table right away. We ordered few dishes (thanks Google translate) and all was excellent. Not to mention the succulent natural wines too.

Intimate and cosy atmosphere with friendly staff, good wine and delicious food. We asked the waitor to pair any red wines with 2 items on the food menu and we were so, so impressed. We were served a spicy green curry pork sausage. It was the best thing we've eaten in tokyo.

Highly rated on one of the top gourmet review sites in japan so I had high hopes up for this restaurant. Visited around 5pm and they were a couple lining up. The store only holds up around 10 people and mostly standing. You may be given a seat if you are lucky. Good wine selection and food was absolutely good. Loved the ambience and staffs were very friendly. Understood why this place was rated very high. Very casual and not overly priced. Expect to wait for a while but this place is definitely worth the wait.

We went there at 7:20 in the line and the owner told us they can serve us. We ended up waiting until near closing time and when we went inside, they told us we can only order appetizers. The owner then didn't even look at us nor offer any apology. Do not come to this place two hours within closing time.

Ahiru Store is a small wine bar near Yoyogi Park. It's been there for a while now and had been on my bucket list for a long time, but it took me a few years to finally make it here because they don't take reservations and it's always packed even on weekdays. The place specializes in natural wines and you can order by the glass or bottle. All of the wines by the glass seemed to be priced the same. There is only one choice for a glass of sparkling wine, but for both reds and whites they give you a choice of three daily selections. The service is great and their delicious food goes well with the wines. We highly recommend ordering the egg with mayo, hummus, and the octopus with avocado. They also have a large selection of bread that you can order by the slice. We recommend getting several types of bread, especially the focaccia. Ahiru Store opens at 3pm (as of March 2022, they are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays), but there is always a line even before they open. Since we went on a Monday we thought that we might be able to get a table even if we got there a little past 3pm, but we ended up waiting for over a hour for a table to open up. This place is worth waiting for even if you have to wait for a while, but make sure you come here only when you have a lot of time and aren't in a rush to get anywhere afterwards.

The Ahiru Store is a small wine bar and restaurant in Shibuya that was recommended to us byt the friendly guy working at Fuglen. Their focus is on natural wines, a trend that has not really caught on as much here as in some other places. To be honest wines are not as popular in Japan as in Europe but still one of the best places in Asia to enjoy good wine. There is a good selection of 10 or so wines by the glass and numerous more by the bottle and all at pretty decent prices (ranging from 400 to a bit over 1000 yen per glass). The staff are happy to discuss what you are looking for and let you taste before making a choice. In general staff are very friendly and service-minded and they really try to make everyone fit into the small space and if you do not fit in they try to set people at the door and just outside. Reservations are possible if you are also eating so would recommend that. I never got around to taste any of the food but it did look delicious so will return for that some other time.

The Ahiru Store is a bar in Shibuya specializing in natural wines. They have a selection of around seven to ten wines by the glass as well as a larger list by bottle. Prices vary from around 400 to 1200 yen (5 to 10 EUR). The shop is very small, so it is not so easy to fit in. But the staff tries their best to arrange seating. For us they brought out a table and placed it just outside of the door (the weather was good, so no problem). You can also reserve a table, so perhaps that is a wise thing to do. We came ten minutes before opening and we were the last party to fit "in". The Ahiru Store also serves small plates of food: bread, charcuterie and such. We were on our way for dinner, otherwise we would have tried out some of the food as well. The bread looked amazing! The only downside, which you will easily run into in Japan, is that the staff do not speak good enough English to really discuss the wines. So we chose our glasses by gut feeling.
