Lorenzo's B&B is probably the best place I've ever stayed at. Venice itself is amazing, and the B&B is just the cherry on the cake.
The place is nice and quiet and situated in one of the tiny alleys in the area of Santa Maria Formosa, which is just a short stroll away. The Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square are also reachable by foot. Lorenzo knows a lot of quiet alternatives to the ever-busy city, and the walks he recommended gave us the opportunity to explore the real Venice and avoid the crowds. He also has excellent restaurant recommendations and can give you discounts in a few of them.
The B&B itself has always been clean, light and friendly. We hadn't expected Lorenzo to make up the room while we were away, but when we returned, we always found the beds made and the room cleaned. There's free access to the Wi-Fi, just ask Lorenzo for the password. Breakfast in the mornings isn't really that much, but we never left hungry and the choice of warm croissants and bread rolls, juice, yoghurt and tea or coffee made an excellent start into the day and was more than enough to get you going in the morning. Some fresh fruit would be lovely, however.
The room was spacious, with a nice modern bathroom and a double bed. My Mum and I a little 'sensitive' sleepers, so the fact that there was only one big mattress had us wake up a couple of times during the night because you would always feel the other moving in their sleep. Separate mattresses would be helpful here, and for my liking they could be a little more comfortable, but really that's complaining on a very high level. After all, it's just a place to stay for a few nights and not somewhere you would spend your whole life although I could do so easily :)
Apart from than there's nothing more you could possibly ask for. Lorenzo is a true gem and an excellent host and has made our holiday one of the best I've ever had. We would definitely come back (to be honest, I'd love to do rather sooner than later) and will recommend this place to everyone who only even mentions the word 'Venice'!
