The Aida is a gem of a boutique hotel located in the heart of the museum and UMKC district. The digital check in is seamless. The common area is very well appointed and comfy. We booked a suite with a sitting area, but found the common area to be a delightful draw. The hotel was very clean and an amenities closet is available for luggage storage and any extras you may need. Our room (2B) was spacious and had lots of natural light. The bed, a Casper mattress, was super comfy, the sheets high end. Why 4 stars for the room? The WC is tiny and has no ventilation. I’m 5’4 and my knees touched the door when closed. Also, the glass shower offers no privacy from the rest of the room—fine for us, but maybe a bit awkward for more modest guests. Nonetheless, we’d definitely stay there again and would love to see what the other bespoke rooms look like. There is no restaurant on site but coffee and nibbles are available in the hall pantry and there are snacks for purchase in the room. And nearby there is a cafe and just across the street in the Contemporary Art Museum is a gourmet restaurant—Oil and Linen, which we loved. Oh and the free trolly is just two blocks away and will take you through all parts of the city and down to the waterfront.
