We had booked at this hotel, but when we asked if they could arrange a transfer to Bukhara, they asked for 250 euros for a taxi, which is almost three times the monthly minimum wage in the country. Anywhere you look online, you’ll see that local taxi prices are around 20 USD, and even when booking through a professional agency they rise at most to 50–70 USD. Therefore, we cancelled our booking, as we see this as a clear attempt to scam tourists.

I have mix feelings about my stay here. But all the camps around offer the same deal, with overpriced food and accommodations... the surrounding are awesome though, the lake as well. 12$ for a meal, the vegetarian option is the same without the meat ( no substitution) and we found some little pieces of meat inside both our soups & mains 😅. This site is a little further from the road, and quiet. Toilets were clean. Yurts dusty & lacking decoration. Also closed to each other so you can hear your neighbors.

Amazing yurt camp, ideally located very close to lake Aydar. The owners are very kind and friendly and they'll warm up the cold desert night with a bottle of vodka and many laughters. We rode camels in the desert for a nice 1-hour sunset tour; in the evening, after dinner, 2 young Kazakh boys played and sang for us around the fire and the memory will stay with us for a long time. The yurts are equipped with a big heater and thick blankets, so cold is not an issue at all. Definitely an amazing experience to have while exploring this superb country!

It is not often that I simply cut and paste from my travel diary. But this was a really wonderful experience and highly recommended. My diary says "I had my camel ride. A nice dinner with a few other tourists, a blackout, no power, beautiful stars and bed on the floor in the dark. As the night went on the cattle came around chewing grass next to the tent. That was followed by a long urination which sounded like we were living near a stream. Not once but three times. But that is life in Yurt country." But to be able to walk around at night and then experience both the sunset and the sunrise was incredibly beautiful and always to be remembered. The setup of the camp was excellent.

Lovely and cozy place for a one-night stay in the desert. Nice and friendly people, functional toilets and showers with hot water. Food was amazing. Traditional music around the fire in the evening and relaxing camel ride in the surrounding area. Don’t miss a walk in the desert at sunset: you will be able to see lots of wildlife and amazing colors in the landscape. Very close to the lake, a refreshing oasis in the scorching heat of the desert
