Ainsworth's Fish & Chips

Visited 31/07/2024 evening Ainsworth’s Fish & Chips made a believer out of me! I used to think fish & chips were meh, but their cod & small chips are a crispy, fresh, flaky revelation. So so good, I’d come back to Caernarfon just for them! Best fish & chips I’ve ever had; their awards are well deserved. Thanks for converting me to the fish & chips club! 🐟🍟

Me and my bestie ordered a mini fish wish chips and a fishcake and chips, and they were both delicious. Not your ordinary fatty sloppy chips, they were crispy and so tasty! Customer service was excellent, we got to know the history of the shop and the passion behind it. Highly recommend!!

Caught them just before the shop closed this evening. Friendly people behind the counter and the cod and chips were amazing. 5 stars, this is how fish and chips should be done. Thank you.

We had a Friday Fish Supper. A special. Boxed fish and a tub of peas, with a drink. £13. The fish was large, with a generous helping of chips. The food was absolutely delicious. Crispy batter and moist white fish! There's usually a queue, but the service is quite fast! Highly recommended!

Came here because its won the fry awards 2 years running. Batter on the haddock was perfectly cooked throat, fish was fresh, great chips. Well deserved awards. Staff really friendly and good atmosphere

Excellent chippy. Fast and friendly service, clean and new premises and, an odd comment, but a very nicely packed box! We thought the fish was really fresh, cut properly and battered really well. Chips were great too. If we’re back in the area we would definitely return. Thanks

Delicious fish and chips. All cooked fresh to order so on a busy Saturday evening it was about a half an hour wait but well worth it. Friendly staff also.

This straight up has to be the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life. I travel to the UK a lot I have not have a place like this. Staff is amazing and the food is great.

if you decide to use this venue and you live outside the area, like on holiday I would suggest you order online as they cook to order and we had to wait 45 mins? if we had known before hand we would of gone else where but we had handed over our money and thought it would be 15 mins max

Very friendly welcome from the staff. Ordered cod, chips and mushy peas and, although we had to wait a bit (food is cooked fresh), it tasted delicious once cooked. Chose to eat on the sea front; yummy!

I went in there Saturday and after giving my order, someone else came in and ordered the same as I did. He got served practically straight away. I just walked out disgusted with this unprofessional service.

Ok, I'm American. Still and all this is as good fish and chips as I've ever had. The shop is fundamentalist with a very narrow selection but the fish is terrific, perfectly crispy on the outside, moist and flaky on the inside. Of particular note are the chips again, perfectly crispy on the outside and not soggy on the insidel. The owners run the shop (sorry, can't remember their names, Ainsworth perhaps?) are friendly and helpful to the confused touron. Minimal seating area but it is a takeaway and I was alone so it worked. Great place.

Being from the US, I admittedly don't know much about fish and chips, but this was the best we had on our trip about the UK. Wonderful service as well
