This review is about the Aeroplan program. Please click "helpful" if you do find it helpful (informative) to you, and I apologize in advance for emotional read. This is one of the most frustrating experience you can ever find in the otherwise great country of Canada. The 'service' from them, especially involving the missing points claim process, is brain-numbingly bad.
First of all, they would consistently and conveniently "miss" to post a few flights you had EVERY year, forcing customers nervously checking and refreshing their transactions list after EVERY flight.
Then they will make everything YOUR OWN PROBLEM and step out of the loop as frequent as they can. For unknown reasons, about 50% of the claim don't pass their automated system with bogus excuses like "Passenger name not found", or "wrong birth date" (in each case I was proven correct). Then in the next step to resolve the manufactured "discrepancy", there comes a series of extremely rigid and nuanced requirement about having to upload "your original boarding pass AND e-ticket AND/OR your ticket receipt". If you DARE to miss to include one of them, they will simply send you an obnoxious email basically saying "you didn't upload documents, case closed", without even the basic means to follow up and correct an honest mishap (it's from a "No Reply" email. And did I mention they take "6-8 weeks" to review each claim like this?
At this point, your only hope left is to call them on the phone and begin another adventure of HOURS of wait because they are apparently always "busier than usual".
Clearly, every single step in the points claim process, from the intentional missing points, to the intentionally difficult dispute system, is there to make the customer feel so small and unappreciated. I have shared my feedback to them multiple times in multiple means, but I can't believe I have to resort to posting something like this here. I'm sorry, but I can't help but feel more people should be aware of this. At the very least, I hope when you need to claim missing points, you will be reminded to upload both the boarding pass AND the ticket receipt and avoid the very costly aftermath I described above.
I sincerely hope senior management of Air Canada and the Aeroplan program understand the experience from your customers and help improve it.
