The Best New Restaurants in the World: 2024 Hot List

"At this sprawling space—an erstwhile clubhouse for civil servants—in Singapore’s leafy Dempsey enclave, chef Matthew Orlando (who used to pilot Copenhagen’s influential Amass) is continuing his mission to make circular cooking as natural as, well, breathing air."

Brought my partner here for birthday dinner. We had the 5 course meal and overall was ok. The 5 course dishes are on the sweet side. We prefer them to be more savoury. The chicken with black rice was pretty good though. Tender and not overcooked. They were attentive to my requests for the birthday note and also gave us a very private corner which I really appreciate. The dishes here are for sharing so do come with friends.

This is my third visit, and I absolutely love the wide-ranging menu. Each time I try different dishes, and every visit brings a delightful surprise! The flavors remind me of the famous Tippling Club with their unique and sophisticated taste profiles - just without the elevated plating. But that’s perfectly fine, as the prices are very reasonable!

Celebrated a birthday here. They gave us a nice corner with views. Food was mediocre at best - we had the chef’s tasting menu. Filling but not satisfying. Sweet potato bread was decent, oyster mushrooms were forgettable, the sauce for the Spanish mackerel seemed mismatched. Dessert with watermelon was subtle and nice.

The restaurant sits in the middle of Dempsey but feels far removed, almost like you’re dining in nature. The open-air walkways and surrounding greenery give the whole space a calming, back-to-nature energy. It’s one of the few places in Singapore that makes you forget you’re in the city. The design is minimal but intentional. You can see the greenery from your table, and there’s a quiet stillness you don’t get at most restaurants. Great spot if you need a reset or want to impress someone without the usual stuffy fine dining vibe. As for food, it’s thoughtful. Ingredients are clean, portions are reasonable, and some dishes hit harder than others. The cassava bread was rich and addictive , easily my favourite thing on the menu. A great place for slow lunches with friends or family on the weekends.

The environment is absolutely great , located in a huge garden. However the food is quite hard to appreciate. I can see the creativity and chef's spirit in fusing Singapore local ingredients but the taste is not balanced. The only thing I like in the whole set is the butter of the potato bread.

Came here with my dog as there’s an outdoor area. Food was really good. The grilled cheese kimchi sandwich was really good and must try. Flat white hit the right spot. Nice coffee and milk! The outdoor seating wasn’t that great. Even though was a cool morning was still really hot as there wasn’t any ventilation as fans weren’t working. Really nice ambience and location. The walk from carpark to the restaurant was on a wooden walk way through greenery. Very nice

Service: Made a same day lunch reservation and was seated at the counter. The maître d remembered that we preferred a table and was so kind to swap us over mid meal. Service was attentive without being over bearing. Food: Had the lunch set which was quite good value for $59 before taxes. The starters were amazing!! Unfortunately I did not manage to take any photos because we were focused on enjoying the food. The duck salad was fantastic. Mains were delicious as well but the chicken leg was on the tougher side. Location: the place is difficult to find if you’re not familiar with the area. We went the wrong was twice before spotting the air sign in the corner of the parking lot. If you’re facing the steps up to Samy’s curry, don’t go there!! Turn to your left where you’ll spot the air sign and head that way.

Tried their lunch menu. Everything feels so well thought out. The Caesar salad had shredded duck with fine croutons which gave it such a nice texture. Mains and desserts tasted good and I couldnt think of what could have been done better. Sat by the counter and the ambience is great with the open kitchen concept.
