Airds Hotel & Restaurant (Port Appin, UK) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Airds Hotel & Restaurant sits at a quaint crossroads in the tiny hamlet of Port Appin, in Scotland’s western highlands. It’s exceedingly private, surrounded by peaceful terrain consisting of rugged mountains cascading into Loch Linnhe — and being practically dockside, the hotel enjoys enviable views on all sides. Its 11 rooms and suites come individually decorated, though all share an upscale country-house aesthetic with handsome wood furnishings and floral wallpaper. The West Coast Kitchen serves locally sourced Scottish fare and the lounge features afternnon tea." - Tablet Hotels

I just came home from a two week trip to Scotland, touring the country. The Airds hotel was one of my favorite hotels we stayed in. I am looking at the bad reviews, and I guess it all just comes down to expectations. I knew we were staying in an old building (hence, the creaking floors), with a limited number of rooms (hence, the small number of staff on board). We did receive a call earlier in the day letting us know their dining room was going to be closed that day. Thanks for the heads up and we found a different place to eat. No big deal. The hotel was clean, our room was so charming and the view out of our window was amazing. True, we were assigned one of the few rooms that have a view of the loch. They have a big lawn area, that if you have the time, you can play a game of croquet. It is just a charming, quaint place. The staff was friendly and breakfast was good. I don't drink coffee so the coffee machines in hotels never do me any good, but they had hot chocolate packets available as well. I would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

We stayed for one night in Airds on a long cycle tour down the west coast. The staff were very welcoming and found space inside the hotel to store our bikes. The room was clean and comfortable, at the top of the hotel, with amazing views across the loch.|The ensuite shower and bath was well appointed with clean towels, soap and shampoo. We ate in the restaurant, and had notified that we were vegan. The chef had prepared an entire menu with a selection of starters, mains and desserts. The food was beautifully presented, and tasted delicious. |Breakfast in the morning was equally exceptional. We enjoyed our stay here.

Stunning location. So peaceful and calm. Beautiful surroundings and an easy walk to the Port. We loved our stay. From the minute we arrived Caty greeted us with all the information we needed. We were shown to our room (10) which was on the ground floor with a small garden area and the location was perfect for our dogs and getting to the car park. The room was huge, immaculately clean and the bed was super comfortable. We ate breakfast both mornings of our stay - great selection and very tasty. Zsolt was a wonderful server, nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the hotel on our first night, I had mussels and my husband had a burger. The food was beautifully presented and tasted divine. Husband is a keen cyclist and was impressed with the quality and quantity of cycle paths in the locality. I too was impressed with the wonderful dog walks. We will definitely return.

We were two couples. Scottish & Canadian. Loved Airds. We had a ground floor bedroom, very spacious with a bathroom that looked brand new. Robes, toiletries, kettle etc. My Canadian cousin & her husband had an upstairs room with a surprise…a balcony. They thought it was fabulous. Very good value with breakfast included. We had dinner at Airds; excellent food & wine with super service from Jasmine who was simply lovely.|Highly recommend. We’ll very likely return.

We only went for dinner so can't rate the rooms. Had a lovely meal with attentive and friendly service. Not cheap, but high quality in gorgeous surroundings.

Picturesque location and fairly simple to reach (if traveling by car). Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, food (breakfast and dinner) was delicious. Very nice atmosphere in the rooms and common areas. Bit oldschool but clean and comfortable - it fits the overall vibe. Fully recommend!

Amazing location, amazing bed, room and wonderful breakfast. We were served freshly made cocktails on the terrace looking over the Lighthouse. Cannot recommend more, fabulous little hotel ♥️.

Yelp
The Airds Hotel's afternoon tea gets my vote because they offer two extremely scenic views for their sittings. My family and I had been making an extreme road trip around Scotland and were stopping in Creag Mohr. This was a relatively short drive up the road and well worth it! You may sit indoors or outdoors. The indoor seating could have been in a number of beautifully decorated rooms that were reminiscent of old libraries and afternoon parlors. The outside garden seating overlooked the beautiful Port Appin and was close to Castle Stalker. (Get your cameras ready!) The food itself was really only ok as far as I was concerned. It was a lot of food and quite heavy. One of my road trippers got a little sick (not sure if it was a combination of driving, fatigue, and food). Still, the rest of us enjoyed the fresh air, the gorgeous grounds, and the respite that was offered. I would caution my possibly obese or handicapped fellow Americans here in that the bathrooms were upstairs. It might take significant effort to make your way up there, and there is only one stall for both genders to share, as I recall.
