I was surprised at the total lack of customer service displayed by this hotel.| |First, and TAKE NOTE - They are situated on a plaza under significant construction, making it impossible to navigate there by car (you’ll have to find a parking garage somewhere else in town) On foot it’s still a maze and noisy/dusty all day long with jackhammers and construction vehicles right outside if you’re unlucky enough to get a room on that side. ||Second - The front desk staff is unconcerned with guest requests, and I was frankly amazed that a hotel located in a town not considered to be the “busy” part of Spain would be so unhelpful. For example, I booked a visit to the spa, and was told to wear a robe and shower shoes . Problem was, those weren’t located in my room. I asked for them at the front desk, and was told they would be delivered to my room. Fifteen minutes later, a loud knock on my door and there was my robe and shower shoes. The shower shoes were tight but I got them on. Then I went to the spa in the basement, where I was told I had to check in at the front desk. Back upstairs to the front desk, where I was told the shower shoes were women’s and I needed to have them changed to men’s - well it’s what they brought me, but whatever. Back downstairs to the spa, then when I was ready to shower and leave, I asked for a towel. Nope, no towels at the spa. Back upstairs to the front desk (now soaking wet) and asked for a towel, and was told one would be brought to me “if you wish”. Well, not trying to be difficult, still, but isn’t that just what one expects?||This was the worst example of a generally bad experience I had at this hotel. Room layout was odd, with open bathroom concept not just to the room but all of outdoors if one didn’t keep shades drawn. ||I’ve traveled extensively in Spain, and enjoyed any number of terrific hotel experiences (Hospes, Paradores and one memorable Relais & Chateaux experience). The Aire Hotel Almeria is an experience I strongly recommend AVOIDING.
