AIRE Hotel & Ancient Bath ALMERÍA

We stayed here 2 nights in a junior suite overlooking the square. Lovely comfortable bed, amazing views. No kettle, phone didn’t work, no teabags, heating only operated via Reception. It was cold. Hairdryer only blew cold air. Not all plug sockets worked. No slippers or robes which seemed funny as it has a spa and ancient baths. Staff very friendly and helpful but had to phone reception from our mobiles.

We went for a girlies city break for 3 nights. We had 2 rooms. Room 1: big bed, wardrobe, coffee maker, shelf along the wall to place things on, no robe or slippers. Room2: normal size double bed, no wardrobe, no coffee maker, shelf behind bed that wasn’t very wide, no robe or slippers. We booked basic rooms. We asked to move as 1 room was like a broom cupboard. No where to put your clothes only the floor or kept in the case. We were told the 2 rooms were basic and the same. We asked for a coffee maker to be put in the room. We got a coffee maker but they took the lamp as there was no room for both. However, the hotel was really lovely and the front of house staff very polite. The terrace on the roof had amazing views of an evening. It has a vending machine that had bottles of wine and beer. The hotel is central and in a beautiful square. The spa was nice and relaxing. If one of our rooms hadn’t been a broom cupboard it would be a 5* review.

Having visited AIRE in Sevilla we were very excited for our stay here, booking a junior suite with breakfast and spa access. However we should have paid more heed to the negative reviews on here as they are unfortunately true. Our main issue was that after breakfast my partner decided to lay by the pool. I popped downstairs to get my book and as my partner is unwell he fell asleep quickly. He was woken by a member of staff, told he should not be there, should not have eaten any Food and made to prove he was staying in the hotel. Essentially implying that he was homeless and taking advantage of the facilities. This was even more upsetting when I followed this up as it become clear the person who had made these comments was the manager. She was incredibly rude and curt to me, eventually apologising and acknowledging her error but still a very upsetting experience overall leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. The only offer of good will was that we could stay at the hotel for an extra hour after check out… no thanks! We wanted out of there. The other staff working in the hotel were also pretty rude. Especially a male worker who when we relaxing on the rooftop sat right next to us taking Teams calls and notifications pinging loudly - I came on holiday to get away from Microsoft Teams 😅 this particular staff member had also been pretty rude the entire stay - never smiling or saying hi and barging around. The hotel is definitely disconnected from its customers, seeing them as an inconvenience and not recognising we are why they have a job! Very disappointing. The room was ok, some design flaws that make it not very functional of comfortable overall. Hotel needs a good deep clean and coffee machine was full of mold so watch out if you are using it! The only redeeming feature was the spa, lovely as always and the staff on the front desk were wonderful, friendly and helpful. They also did not seem surprised when I raised this issue with the manager. Overall - go for the spa but avoid the hotel like the plague.

My husband and I booked a night’s stay on 5 Jan to enjoy Almeria city during the Reyes Magos celebrations. Our friends recommended the ancient baths at this hotel so we booked to stay, from the early check in to check out the hotel staff could not do enough for us to make the visit special.|We were allocated room 209 which was perfect for a couple and came with one of the best showers we have ever used, the room decor is stylish and modern and the bed was a super king size, there was lovely L’Occtaine products in the room and a good coffee machine along with water. We had booked the baths for 6pm and went out for the afternoon to explore the city. On our return our robes and foot covers for the baths had been laid on our bed ready in our room. The baths were fabulous, the hotel has a gorgeous scent everywhere which I have found out is a signature scent made for AIRE called Orange Garden - it meant everywhere including the baths smells wonderful. The friendly staff showed us around the baths and then we enjoyed 90mins of pure relaxation. |The hotel is perfectly situated in the city centre and is close to our favourite tapas places including Taberna Nuestra Tierra and Casa Puga so we had a two min walk to dinner which was great as it was heavy raining.|Finally we had a peaceful nights sleep and awoke feeling really refreshed and relaxed from the whole experience.|Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back. A big thank|you to the Maria’s on the front desk who looked after us so well.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. Cleanliness is poor, the rooms are disappointing, and the mattresses need replacing. The staff at reception could be much friendlier, so rude. They seem to rely only on the spa and location, but everything else is lacking.

Do not accept room 213…it’s supposed to be a suite ITS NOT …UK health and safety would say an accident waiting to happen.|Broken pool furniture|Breakfast has a great choice at 8am….go at 9;30 nothing replenished |We left after 2 days asked for a refund for the other 2 night we booked and they said NO|I was informed by the hotel manager that if anything is at fault I should have reported it to reception.|I don’t think it’s my job to inform reception that the towels had not been changed,the coffee /tea had not been replenished that’s the cleaners job to make sure that these daily tasks had been done.|I never write any bad comments about hotels we have stayed in around the world as there is always improvements to be made but on this occasion after receiving an email from the manager with a very negative response I thought on this occasion I would.|Cannot believe a 4* hotel has not a bar or restaurant on the premises

We spent 2 days - me and my 12 year daughter. Sadly on booking.com it didn't say she wasn't allowed in baths, but website makes it very clear so my bad. Roof top pool was sufficient thou and she spent most days there. Incredible location, view onto the square amazing, great little restaurants 2 mins walk away. Definitely be coming back. Staff super helpful and welcoming.

The location is excellent, close to the Moorish fortress.||The hotel breakfast is on the top floor with good views. However the inside area for buffet and tables is cramped, and outside the floor, tables and chairs are worn. Staff eat and chat while guests are serving themselves breakfast and reception thought that was fine. The food does not get replenished promptly, the intercom system made eating breakfast like being in an airport. The menu hardly changes. The loo near the breakfast area didn't have tissues or a towel for drying your hands, and the cistern continuously filled.||The pool (nice and warm) is on the top floor and the floor is also worn. ||When I asked for more hangers in my room, they provided bent wire ones and at the second request they provided wooden ones. The lighting in my room was very dim and impossible to see oneself at the dressing table. The pillows were hard and again it took two days for them to bring soft ones. There was a mysterious thumping in my room in the early mornings - I mentioned this and the matters above to the reception but there was little interest.||When I said to reception that there was no ordinary tea or milk in my room, the response was that one is given out each day, and if you use it, then no more is provided.||I was offered a complimentary session at the Spa, but declined, as it's not my thing. I asked for some financial recompense but there has been no response. ||I do not think the hotel is customer focussed.
