Airport Gateway Hotel & Motel Christchurch

We stayed here twice recently on our way in and out of NZ. The service was amazing. Each person we spoke with was friendly and helpful. The woman who works the night shift and does the shuttle runs in particular was incredible. The rooms were clean and well maintained. There’s an onsite restaurant and playground. The shuttle service was very much appreciated as we had one of the last flights in and first flights out. We would definitely stay here again.

Could not fault our 2 night stay. Efficient shuttle service (5 mins from airport) & fast checkin. Shown to our room & while a little dated was large, comfortable, clean, warm & fully self contained. We ate at the restaurant both nights - food was divine & plentiful. Nice outdoor area too. All staff were absolutely lovely.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had such a fantastic experience at the Gateway Motor Motel Christchurch. Jackie and Keith were the most amazing and helpful people right from the moment I arrived. They made check-in a breeze, personally showed me to my room, gave me a little tour of the facilities, and even made sure the heating was on so I’d be warm and comfortable. Their kindness went above and beyond when they also helped me return my car after hours — such a lifesaver! Friendly, professional, and genuinely caring service. The shuttle bus got me to the airport on time the next morning running at 3.30am. can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We got the shuttle in about ten minutes and had a short ride to the Gateway.|Our driver had all our check in details and our key and dropped us very close to our first floor room|Inside everything was beautifully clean and fresh with all we needed for an overnight stay|We slept well in our spacious suite and were able to make a cup of tea in the morning with some of the real milk left in our fridge|Again a short trouble free shuttle back to the airport|Stay here if you have a Christchurch stopover. We definitely hope to be at the Gateway again soon

Just stayed here for 2 nights. Nice clean room, very friendly staff and great food ordered through room service. The best thing for me was the ability to have my dog stay as well. Can be a wee bit noisy with traffic but not a big problem. Well definitely be back.

Booked in for one night between flights. Place is very drab, seriously eighties, complete with stains everywhere, oven door dislodged, not welcoming at all. Paid for room prior to arriving then had to pay a holding fee when we arrived of $200 for damage we might do to the room. We couldn't do much damage to an already basic room. Everything needs updating, and a bit of cleanliness wouldn't go amiss. Won't stay here again.

Great stay in Christchurch. Friendly staff and the rooms are spacious and clean.||The restaurant food is magnificent and our waiter, June, was very friendly and helpful.||We will be back to stay before returning to Australia. Thank you for a great stay

The Airport Gateway Hotel in Christchurch lives up to its name, offering excellent proximity to the airport. While I didn't need the shuttle service or use the on-site restaurant during my stay, the core accommodation itself was very satisfactory. My room was clean, well-supplied with amenities, and the bathroom was similarly clean and well-equipped. A definite highlight was the massive TV, perfectly positioned and easy to enjoy comfortably from the bed – a real plus for relaxing. The only notable challenge was the parking situation. While spaces are numbered, suggesting assigned spots, it actually operates on a first-come, first-served basis. This made finding a space upon returning to the hotel each time a bit of an unexpected hassle. Thankfully, the staff were consistently efficient and friendly, which significantly smoothed things over. Considering the comfort and location, the Airport Gateway Hotel represents good value for money, just be prepared for potential parking availability issues.
