The 12 Best Places to See the Sunset Around the World

"If I want an easier Sedona sunset, I drive to Airport Mesa to watch the sun disappear behind Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Courthouse Butte for spectacular panoramic views." - Melissa Locker Melissa Locker Melissa Locker is a writer, editor, and podcast producer in New York City. Beautiful at sunset. Get there early so you have time to park and hike up to the top. We really felt the energy of the vortex. My friend and I were sitting beside each other and had a completely different experience. Highly recommend! When it gets dark, it gets dark so bring a headlamp. Perfect spot for stargazing!

Beautiful. We ended every day watching the sunset and started every morning watching the sunrise. Breathtaking every time. Must do both at least once. It gets busy so show up early for both.

Get there early for sunset or don't bother. Awesome place to get a great view. Best at sunrise or sunset.

We went twice! First the day we came in to see the sunset but it was cloudy so we just saw a shadow and the 2nd time the evening before we left and what a spectacular sunset! Abundant Vortex energy. Easy parking at the top for $3. The lower area has only about 6 spaces and is free. Worth it! Oh and that same night we came back for amazing star gazing.

Best place to catch 360 degrees view of Sedona. Hike is pretty easy.

Pretty view. Lots of people there to watch the sunset. Can see the whole town and miles into the mountains.

Cool loop hike, with good views of Sedona and the surrounding rock from the trail. It's a nice way to see the area from a higher viewpoint while on a hike. Very urban, you don't ever feel you are really "in nature" but I would still recommend it as a way to get a quick visual tour of the area. Another nice place to watch the sunset without having to go very far. You can just hike up as far as you want and then sit down on the grassy hillside (some parts are more tree-covered that others).

This is the best place to watch the sunset in Sedona. You can start at Airport Saddle trailhead if you are lucky enough to find parking there, or start from other trailheads if there are more parking spaces. Anyway, you should hike to the summit, not difficult. You will be rewarded by the best sunset and view from either side. The alternative is to drive to the Sedona airport overlook, you pay $3 for parking, still you need to go early, otherwise, there's a long line of cars waiting to get parking, you may missed the sunset. However, the view is not as good as the previous spot. You can see in one of my pictures for the few parking spots at the airport saddle trailhead and the road to the airport overlook.
