I can only try to explain what happened to us when we dined here, but the best thing you can do is take a chance, and experience it for yourself.
I speak some Spanish so it helps with what is happening here, so I do think that anyone that doesn't speak the language will have a different experience.
We arrived early during off season, getting to the restaurant 20 minutes before they opened and one woman was already waiting in line. We chatted with her, and when she found out it was our first time, she recommended eating anything and everything the owner put in front of us. (That's what we did, and we had the best time.) Then she told us the story how someone asked for a menu, and they brought out the yellow pages, instead.
The owner is a character, who pretends to be a hard a$$ saying rude things to guests, like telling the woman in line (who was a regular) she wasn't allowed in without her husband. Then they laughed, he hugged her, and when she asked what time they were opening (which appeared to be an inside joke), he replied he wasn't a factory and would open when he opened. After he went in she explained he might open on time or 15-20 minutes later. Lucky for us he opened 5 mins. later, and upon sitting down, the magic happened.
We were served gambas, langostinos, mejillones, calamari, pescaditos (three kinds of fried fish), which we washed down with beer and wine.
Then when we had enough and confessed we couldn't eat anymore he asked if we wanted dessert to which I eagerly and unapologetically said yes to. Dessert came with a cranberry cordial ending our magical mystery ride.
Yes. There is no menu. Yes. You won't know how much it costs until you confess you can't eat anymore. Yes. Get here early, but no, you won't have a bad time. And no. You certainly won't regret it.
