Aixois

Ones of my favorite places in the city. It's authentic French food and pastries, with an ambience that makes me feel like I am actually overseas in France. I have dined on the lovely patio and in the front sunroom, and every time it's been rejuvenating and enjoyable!

I had a solo date with myself on a very cold January day. I sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive. The house rouge wine was good. The hanger steak for $31 was amazing! I spent two hours with great food, a cozy atmosphere, and my book. I can’t wait to come back with friends.

We went for brunch and we had a really nice experience. The taste of the coffee was nice The pastry as croissant/ toast/ madame croquette very tasty. The service was right. Overall a nice experience, a bit expensive but worth it.

Stopped for cozy comfort food after a Saturday morning walk. Enjoyed a croque monsieur and the most beautiful mocha at the bar.

The Poke Bowl was good. My partner got the Salmon Burger and she said it was mediocre at best. Both items were not worth $19 dollars. The service was unhelpful and unpleasant. The host didn't even address us when we arrived, despite there being only 6 customers in the restaurant. When I told him we had a reservation, he just went, "Hmpf." Our server couldn't give us a decent recommendation for sandwiches saying, "I don't know. They taste like burgers." Not worth your time unless you're in a pinch.

We decided to try Aixois late Saturday night and sat on the patio. The atmosphere was beautiful, although we did feel a little under-dressed compared to other patrons. We tried the white and red blends and they were just okay, but well-priced. We tried the pistachio pasta with salmon (good) and the grilled hangar steak with fries. The fries were cut and cooked nicely and the salad greens were a nice addition. Unfortunately I ordered my steak medium and it was served to me blue-rare. I didn’t mention it to the server because it was getting late (she had already mentioned last call for bar), but honestly I was pretty disappointed. Considering the steak is served pre-sliced, I’m surprised it was able to make it past the kitchen staff, expo and server without someone realizing it was closer to raw than medium. This restaurant is a wonderful place to grab a late-night cocktail, but for the price point and lack of attention to detail, I would rather have dinner somewhere else beforehand.

really wanted to like this restaurant but was disappointed from start to finish. Wanted something to remind us of home and we guess the food is great by US standards but it was definitely c-tier food. The onion soup somehow was flavorless. Our server did her best, but you would think that one should know the pronunciations of items on the menu when they are ordered. Hoped for a taste of France, ended up with just another americanized version of what should be classic French food.
