Love this Chinatown hidden gem!💎The food is comforting yet light and healthy, not greasy, and made with really fresh ingredients. Very homy Japanese style with a very reasonable price! My favorite drink is the Hojicha Chai Latte. Love the creative mix of ingredients! Ordered also Cheese Scone, didn’t expect much but turns out to be surprisingly tasty! Staff are very nice and welcoming. Highly recommended!

They were surprised to see us and quizzed us about how we found them. Well, there's a few things on the menu that appeal to me. Initially, I came for the Vegan teriyaki Chick'n with Butlers soy curls, and shredded vegetables. But when I noticed the roast miso sake sablefish on rice, I couldn't resist. I was also very pleased that it was served with multi-grain rice which reminded me of my favourite Sekihan—Japanese Red Bean Rice. I don't remember any Japanese restaurants in Vancouver offering delicious rice like this (and it is great not to be eating rice with vinegar and sugar). My partner was not happy with the Smoked Wild BC Sockeye Wanpaku sandwich because of the traditional white bread which is a waste of space, and basically empty calories nutrition wise. I thought the amount of vegetables was better than most places. They can improve that by hooking up with the Flourist which makes healthy wholegrain bread full of helpful nutrients and fibre. The location was a bit sketchy, my partner is not impressed with that – we had to be buzzed in. They are in the corner of a restored office building with great ceilings. The lobby washroom was roomy and clean.

Google
Aiyaohno Cafe was such a wonderful experience! The staff were so nice and genuinely lovely and they really made us feel welcome. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I also have to highlight the strawberry matcha… wow. It was amazing and definitely something I’d come back for. Overall, a fantastic spot with great vibes, kind staff, and incredible food. Can’t wait to visit again!

Google
Honestly amazing! We had a couple of vegan sandwiches and drinks, so so delicious and affordable, worthy of a 5 star rating. BUT the lady serving us was so so lovely! Really knowledgeable about the food and drinks, gave loads of local recommendations, even sending us to other food places she recommends (before that we were considering just coming back here twice in one day). My partner bought a t-shirt, which she loves. We got stickers as well, cause we absolutely loved the branding and vibes. See if you can find the sticker on my laptop ☺️

Google
Charming cafe with a menu inspired by Japanese countryside cafes. They sell coffee and tea, specializing in matcha, as well as light meals and some baked goods. The food is vegetable-forward and health-conscious with seafood, vegetarian, and vegan options. You can also buy tins of matcha. You need to be buzzed in to enter the building. There's a sign posted at the door with the number to dial. I didn’t have to announce myself or anything, they just let me in when I buzzed. I tried their vegan chick’n caesar sandwich, matcha coconut mochi, and the Koolfest iced sencha with kinome and guava. Really good all around. The sandwich had a slightly different flavour from the typical caesar I was expecting - more mustardy - but was very tasty. It was a little messy because there was so much stuffed into the sandwich. The matcha mochi (like a butter mochi) had a VERY satisfying texture, super soft with a little bit of a crisp surface. The drink was also really good. I really liked the real guava puree. The kinome flavour was unique but subtle. I found the environment here to be unpretentious and comfortable despite the neighbourhood. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the matcha they sell. I am definitely interested in coming back to try something with matcha. Side note: it would be really nice if there were glass cups for cold drinks for dine-in instead of only plastic!

Pictured: Sesame Chili Tan Tan Noodles (vegan) Ramen Egg Sandwich, Matcha Soy Latte and Ginger Yuzu juice. Food is absolutely delightful, reminiscent of Japanese craft and quality, the matcha is from Uji, and the Tan Tan broth is from the mind of some genius chef. Support these folks, they care about what they feed you and you can tell.

Google
Definition of a gem! Firstly, the space. It’s tucked away in what I believe is an apartment lobby, with an assortment of seats, tables and benches. Good wifi for working remotely. Food was a gluten free gal’s dreams! Tons of tasty meals and treats. Had a tough time choosing between the rice bowls but eventually opted for tofu w/ ramen egg. Was yummy! Would definitely come back to try the matcha and fish dishes. Lastly, the vibe and service here was just the warmest and friendliest combo. Love their branding too!

Yelp
Cute little cafe tucked in Gastown/Chinatown. Staff were so friendly and I decided to come here in between my shift during my lunch break to enjoy the cafe vibes Good selection of menu items and drinks. I tried the truffled ramen egg sandwich - it was filling and tasty however I personally wished there was more of the truffle flavor in it.

Yelp
This is a relatively hidden cafe in Vancouver. I is worth a visit with its delicious menu items and drinks. The cafe is run by a couple, with the mugs being handmade by them! The vegan dumplings were my favourite and would go back for it again! The Hojichai latte was a nice warm beverage. They also sell super cute merch at the store. There is limited seating inside, so it can very difficult with a group. Definitely a spot to catch up with a friend.

Yelp
My first time visiting this spot since it used to be the Iktsu matcha/coffee stand! I'm glad that another kind and friendly couple has opened shop here. To get into the building, you have to wave to the owner through the takeout window and she has to come around and open the door for you. A bit inconvenient for everyone, but that's the building security. It's a cozy seating area with a few tables and couches. The cups they serve water/drinks in are so unique - I believe they are hand-built ceramics with interesting shapes! Not my favourite, but it gave a cool touch to the cafe. The smoked sockeye salmon sandwich was delicious! The lightly toasted milk bread was soft to bite into, with the smoky fish balanced with the vegetables. I'd like to try some of their other sandwiches! The miso sake glazed sablefish lunch combo was so tasty - the fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The purple rice was soft and fluffy - my friend and I even asked the owners what rice blend and rice cooker they use! The vegetable and salad mix was good too. I could have done with less rice and more fish to balance out the whole dish, as I felt the rice ratio was large. I can't wait to visit again and try their matcha latte!

Yelp
Great cafe, friendly service and great food. We had a very good Matcha latte and Latte. Their Matcha cookie is Crispy outside, chewy inside, and filled with nuts, so delicious in taste and texture. Tan tan noodle is delicious and the noodle has a great texture and freshly made. We love finding it in a dog friendly work building, so now we can bring fur baby here.

Yelp
Delicious coffee, one of the best my girlfriend and I had in Vancouver. Worth a visit, but on the rougher part of town.

Yelp
Aiyaohno is not your ordinary cafe but also offers catering. This little jewel is also known for it's vegetarian & vegan options, vegan dumplings & rice bowls. I used them for a business catering event for 40 people & they did not disappoint. The husband/wife team met my specific request in making square & circled shaped canapés - Sq. Watermelon with Balsamic vinegar, Round Cucumber/Feta, Round Raspberry Cheesecake & Brownie squares. I highly recommend them for your catering option.

Yelp
This delectable establishment is tucked away in an unassuming building with the world's loveliest employees. I'd visit Vancouver again just to give them more of my business!

Yelp
Stopped by for a nice post-workout lunch. I got the roast miso sake sablefish ($18.50). Really enjoyed the fish over the bed of rice and the salad as well. Very well dressed. It's also hot chocolate festival -- so it was extra busy today for the first day! I got the plum wine hot chocolate and it comes with an amazingly delicious truffle.

Yelp
This place was SO GOOD! The first time I tried it was a few months ago, I had their Sakura latte and the vegan BLT sandwich and I was in LOVE! There's something about the word "vegan" that intimates people and honestly I wasn't too keen about it too. But this place proved me wrong. I went again last month and I ordered the sesame dan dan ramen! Boy was that ever delicious!! I also ordered the hojicha latte. Yummy!! Also, the owners are super friendly and helpful. Feel free to ask them any questions about their food, they are very easy to talk to! :)

Yelp
Located in the old Iktsuarpok Coffee Stand, they also have a storefront with a small seating area. The couple behind the counter are just as friendly and serve a variety of drinks and food. We got a flat white as well as one of their special summer drinks - ume matcha tonic which reminded me of their take on an espresso tonic. I quite enjoyed their flat white and would definitely recommend this place when in the area amongst tough competition with other outstanding coffee spots and cafes in the area.

Yelp
First time checking out Aiyaohno Cafe. The entrance door is locked on the weekend so just wait for someone to let you in. Shared an obaachan's plum wine stash ($8.75), matcha kinako soybean walnut powder cookie ($4.50), creamy shiso pesto udon ($14.50) and roast miso sake sablefish ($18.50). The hot chocolate special was rich but not too sweet, with a subtle sour end note. The matcha kinako cookie was fantastic (great chew, nutty). Miso cod was incredibly tender. Pesto udon special was an interesting fusion dish with plenty of vegetables. Will come back soon try more things.

Yelp
Food was delicious - i ordered the BC smoked salmon, which was killer. To my pleasant surprise, though, the miso sauce was the star of the show. Service - Impeccable. they are rly nice there! Asked about my day and where I'm from and generally was responsive and kind. Ambiance - Cute! Located inside the lobby of a luxe (and frankly, stuffy) hotel and because of that feels a little out of place for such a trendy feeling spot. Not their fault though. 10/10 they really pull their weight to add character to the lobby hahaha. Also, the small thrift/consignment store is fun to peruse while waiting for your order - good finds too, but not sure about the prices though since they are not on the clothes. Wasn't interested in buying clothes so didn't ask about that. Sweet spot! 10/10

Yelp
The people were great, the udon and salad soggy and flavorless. Absolutely not as expected based on reviews.

Yelp
Incredibly thoughtful and full-of-character cafe with a great menu that caters to all dietary desires! The cherry on top of the delicious hot chocolate I had was the amazing handmade mug and bowl it and the side dish were served in - made by one half of the couple who runs the cafe! Highly recommend visiting and supporting them - just be sure to check their unusual hours before doing so!

Yelp
Came by for the hot chocolate festival to try their ume and whiskey inspired hot chocolates. Both were very rich but not sweet. I wish I could detect the ume and whiskey notes more in each of the hot chocolates though.

Yelp
Very tasty, rather inauthentic vegan ramen great for a lunch-time option in this area (closed for dinner). Located in a very rough part of town, it's not so pleasant walking here. The cafe is located in a big, old heritage building with other offices, and you need to be let in, as the main door is kept locked (a good idea here). The cafe is tiny and there are a handful of casual tables. I got the Sesame Chili Tan Tan Ramen ($14.50 plus tax; vegan), which came out in under 10 minutes. It's served in a wide bowl, unlike most ramens, and with a not ideal recyclable spoon that isn't great for broth. Nevertheless, the actual dish is excellent: you get a nice portion of kale noodles and all sorts of veggies (spinach, cooked Chinese greens, pickled veggies, cucumber, a few slices of carrot, and some salad leaves. The broth is rich, sesame-y, and savoury, but not spicy at all, with a really nice flavour complexity. Really quite an impressive dish in a city with now tons of vegan ramen options. The service was unfailingly kind and eager to find any way to improve what they do. If you find yourself in this area for lunch, I'd recommend checking them out.

Yelp
Aiyaohno is a gem in Gastown with lots of vegan options. I ordered the vegan Beet LT and a special hot chocolate with Japanese whiskey. The sesame milk for the chocolate was a free upgrade. The owners are very sweet and friendly. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Highly recommend them for their delicious, healthy and well portioned food ! The menu is amazing and the customer service is really great. The atmosphere is local, family owned and friendly. I will definitely be back I'd take a photo but it tasted so good I ate it too fast

Yelp
found this place on Instagram while doing research for a trip to Vancouver. Although not in the best area I didn't mind making the trip! We unfortunately just ate so we didn't get anything to eat but I will for sure get something next time because everything looked and sounded so good! The owners were working and made us such delicious drinks and they were super appreciative that we found them online and made a trip out there. We got the salted sakura latte and the cassis lavender latte. Definitely recommend :) good
