Ajidokoro Kikuyo shokudo

I was here this morning to eat at this seafood donburi eatery in the vicinity of the Hakodate Morning Market Square - and it did not disappoint. I ordered a seafood donburi set and opted for uni, hotate, ikura and ika and all of these seafood toppings / side were very fresh and very delicious. And it was nice that the set came with some pickles and a bowl of miso soup. Service at this eatery was friendly and helpful, and the dining ambience was quaint and nostalgic.

During my visit, I was slightly disappointed to discover that they had run out of squid, which was a seafood staple I had been eagerly anticipating. However, the food was absolutely delicious! I ordered a kaisen-don with salmon flakes, crab flakes, salmon roe, scallops, and uni. The uni was particularly noteworthy for its rich, creamy texture and the pleasant, subtle sweetness that lingered in my mouth after each bite, without any bitterness at all. While the quality of the seafood was exceptional, the portion size of the bowl was quite modest. Considering the price point, it felt a bit pricey for the quantity served. They serve great seafood. But they’re not the only place in the entire morning market… It might also be a good idea to arrive early to avoid any disappointment due to potential food shortages.

One of the must-do at the morning Market is eat the seafood bowl. The place was easy to find. The service staff was efficient and helpful. The food off course, was fresh. However it can be a little pricey. My final bill came up to 11000¥+ for 3 persons (my pics). Overall a good experience. 👍

An uni (sea urchin) specialty shop. Here was a tiny restaurant with an uni top on rice. The service was acceptable. Price and quality were reasonable. If you have a limited budget, I will recommend it here.

The donburi is not big but price is fair. Rice is hot enough and seafood is fresh and sweet. The staff explained to add soy sauce on scallop and no sauce for the rest of them. Service was attentive.

Decent Dons at its freshness and price point Ordered the 3 combo, scallops, uni and ikura which was very tasty and fresh. - mixing up the whole bowl gives the rice below a rich taste and milky creamy texture from the uni Overall, would recommend people to walk around the market, find what fits your palette and just go for it!

Delicious kaisendon and local spot, had the 4 choice item of uni, scallops, shrimp and salmon row. Very easy to order in simple English and pointing, use Google lens to translate the menu or look at photos!

Although a small portion, this is filling for breakfast. Nice mix of umami ingredients. Hot tea and soup provided.
