We needed bindings installed on a new pair of skis (not purchased at the store). We came in at 3pm, and asked if could be installed that day, as we were leaving the following day. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Despite larger backlog of orders, they got the bindings installed that evening and we could ski the next day. Happy customer, would recommend to friends

Went to get rentals for my fresh beginner girlfriend. She’s very new to the sport and I gassed up how everyone’s nice in the community. I have been to many rentals before never had a bad experience and never been a Karen about things but this guy helping my girlfriend was throwing equipment at her feet and measurement tools and she was trying to tell him that her toes were in pain but he kept cutting her off and dismissing her. Not helping through the whole process. Hope that guy Eren takes some customer service training because he was really rude to us for no reason.

Super friendly staff who are easy to talk to and knowledgeable about their gear! I recently bought some ski boots from them and they were extraordinary helpful in making sure I ended up with the boot that was the right size and type for me.

Aj's was a total win for our bike rental needs! From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us well-super friendly, helpful, and ready to hook us up with everything we needed. They set us up with great bikes and even tows for the kiddos (which they loved). While we were there, we got a little tour of the store--and wow, this place is huge! It's like an outdoor adventure playground for adults. From biking and skiing gear to general outdoor essentials, they've got it all. Bonus points for the out-of-season clearance section Whether you're looking to rent or just browse around, Al's is worth the stop. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

Phenomenal customer support. They realized I bought the wrong bindings for the skis I ordered and called me to make sure I had what I needed. Couldn't be happier that I bought from them.

Fantastic choice of place to rent a bicycle in Stowe and conveniently located next to the recreation path. Bikes are good quality, well-maintained, and the rates reasonable ($27 for 4 hours). Staff were pleasant too!

I've rented here the last 2 years. The rental experience is easy enough. The shop is right by the bike trail. The bikes are in halfway decent shape. The complaints about the staff's soft skills are real though. You'll bring the bikes back and they'll kind of just stare at you for a minute and then wander off and just when you're not sure if you're supposed to have done something different someone will silently come by and grab the bikes and walk off with them. Seems like a pretty fixable problem but here we are.

(Summer review) Online reservations for bikes are tricky on the cell but otherwise very efficient, good quality bikes, including e bikes and also carbon. Lots of options for families including tag alongs and trailers. Right next to the trail, lots of fun. I recommend getting off trail, however, less people to dodge and hardly any cars on the back roads. The ride towards the  Trappe lodge was beautiful. Also they have a huge shop with high quality clothing and gear. Worth a stop.

It was a cool place. My girlfriend and I rented skis. They were pretty sweet! Price was decent for how close it was the the mountain.

Amazing service! Prices are reasonable and you can reserve your rentals online beforehand. Picking up my rental skis was easy and quick and they also sell a ton of gear at the store. Drop-off was similarly speedy. Highly recommend!

Great service by Daniel. He helped my 9-year old son learning how to handle the skis, putting on the boots, etc. He also helped me with the right selection of the gear, without rushing us. Would definitely look for Daniel next time we come back.

So many places in Stowe, don't go here. I have never walked in a store planning to and spending $300 on a coat to not have someone greet me at the register. So I say "I'm fine thanks how are you?" And only then did the elderly cashier look up to say hi. Then, when I was leaving her and another associate walked behind me to condescendingly yell "have a nice day!" No wonder they have so many 1 start reviews for customer service. Had I known, we would have reconsidered the coat. But my daughter really wanted that one style we couldn't find elsewhere.

Staff was friendly and their equipment was good. They exchanged a pair of boots that didn't fit properly with no issues. The rates seemed very reasonable for rentals!

Great prices, found a complete Nordica ski set for 50% ($600 final cost) so great sales as well. Only downside is that delivery is $30 which is a flat rate. Delivery was prompt.

You want tremendous service and support, look no further than AJ's. Place was exceptional to work with and shop with. I have experience at the other shops, but will continue to come back here for all my future needs.

Ski rental employees not friendly or particularly helpful. Pretty indifferent, didn't really want to answer questions .

I stopped by for trail information on a Saturday ... so the place was buzzing with tourists. The mechanic,Dave, spent a solid 10-15 minutes giving me his advice and insight on several MB trails.... Huge help as I was riding by myself. He knew I wasn't buying anything and probably had other things to handle but still took the time to help me out.

Rented some e-bikes online in October. The morning of our rental it was pouring rain. We went into the establishment and told the guys working there - probably not a good idea to ride with them in the rain. The staff tehre were totally cool about it. They refunded our credit card before we left the store and I just appreciated how easy they made the situation. Maybe next time I'll actually get to ride!

Cheaper rentals than at Stowe proper and you get what you pay for. A mom and pop shop with older equipment, economy brand boots, a filthy helmet I had to return and a "who cares" attitude both upstairs and down. Point of sale from the 90's did not remove temp authorization until 7 days after hold. When I returned the equipment, they DO NOT PROVIDE a receipt showing that you have done so. "Trust us" was the response, but they hard key your credit card because they don't trust YOU.

Going for a ski weekend and I wanted good equipment. It was the demo package about 60 per day for skis, boots, poles and helmet. Think I should buy my own helmet. The skis were around 181 and really fast. Good time highly recommend

Stopped here on our way out of Stowe- excellent shop! Ended up buying a pair of used demo skis for an incredible deal. Highly recommend.

Best bike and ski shop in Stowe! Personal customer service from from Dave, Luke and team has been awesome. I stopped in on a Sunday to leave my bike for service and Dave was able to identify and resolve the issue in just a few minutes. Totally appreciate their great, consistent, friendly service! Thanks!

Horrible customer service, so rude and condescending. I would NEVER recommend going here. The sign on the door said open and when I asked why they weren't letting us in, he said "how about this, we're not renting bikes until 10am. Thanks have a great day." In such a rude tone. Never go here.

A lot of the merchandise in this store is pricy, but it is a great place to rent bikes. The bike path runs directly behind AJ's, so you can get your bike and go straight to the path. Price for rentals is reasonable and staff is helpful.

I rented some gear from here and had a great experience! I am a complete ski novice, so I rented skis, ski boots, a helmet, ski gloves, and ski pants. All were in great condition and did the job well. My friends who are more experience complained about the boots, but they were fine for my purposes. Staff was helpful and patient with all my *many* questions and I had a chance to try on everything before leaving. It was also nice to get our gear the night before without paying an extra day rental fee. Check in with the Yelp app for a discount! Order online to make it easier to get your gear upon arrival as well. Overall, I would rent from here again if I'm in town.

Booked two bikes online. 4 hours for two bikes cost around $40. Well worth it. Comfortable bikes. Great customer service. Located right near the Stowe Rec Path. Watched employees sanitizing the bikes. Would definitely rent from here again. Super easy!

The terrible customer service started at the door. The girl and guy at the front desk stared at me when I walked in and asked about rentals. The customer service downstairs was just as awful. Had a beginner skier in the group and nobody offered to help fit him, show him how to get in/out, etc. I live in VT 2 hours away from Stowe and usually ski other mountains but decided to venture up here. Mistake.

We stopped at this place in February to rent my snowboard on our way up the mountain! I loved the cute shop and all the staff were very friendly and helpful! Plus it's so much cheaper than renting from the ski resort. We were supposed to return the board by 6, but then my fiancé PROPOSED after we were done boarding! And he had made a dinner reservation-- so needless to say we completely forgot to return it that night! We called and explained and they said if we had it in by 9 am that they wouldn't charge us-- but even tho we didn't make it there until almost 11am they still didn't! Very thankful for that!

Lucky they even get a star, this place has the worst customer service, I spent 800+, never got as much as a smile from anyone in there, absolutely discourteous and miserable, family of 4 that will never come back, I had a guy follow my around like I was stealing, you know who you are you followed me everywhere, then had a pair of gloves in your hand, can't understand why anyone works there with the awful costumer service

Today, 2/7/2022, purchased Downhill Skis, poles, helmet, Ski Boots and had EXCELLENT personalized attention! Both Dan and "other guy" (the other guy that got the helmet . . . sorry I didn't catch your name) both took into consideration skill level , safety, and our Budget to provided us with EXACTLY what we needed. Both their PERSONILZED ATTENTION was quick and efficient, and made this purchase experience GREAT! Thank you very much!!

We stopped at AJ's after having a tubeless tire explosion. They were so helpful and were able to take our bike into the shop right away! Would highly recommend going here!

These guys are great! I reserved a package for both myself and my fiancé. They were welcoming, friendly and thorough. They even honored the yelp 20% discount which we greatly appreciated. Conveniently located one the way to Stowe these guys are stocked with everything you need! Worth checking out.

Great place for a good deal on a daily rental. We needed rentals for my sister to ski for a day. We picked up at 3pm the day prior, and were due back by 6pm day of rental. Stowe ski closes at 4, so timing was perfect. Thank you!

So glad that we found AJ's before our weekend at Stowe. The rental prices are literally half those of renting on the mountain. (Two-day snowboard rental [w/o helmet] at AJ's: $55 dollars [with 20% winter fun discount] vs. Two-day package at Stowe mountain: $108.) My only small complaint: I wish they were open later on weekdays. We left Boston at 4pm and just made it right before their 8pm closing time. I also wish they were slightly more flexible with return times, like allowing returns early in the morning before the mountain opens without having to be charged an additional day. Tip: Reserve your rental online beforehand to save a few dollars.

Affordable performance rentals when one of our skis crapped out at the last minute. Rental process was easy and painless. Staff was friendly. They also happened to be having end of season sales on Patagonia and winter wear which turned out to be a great deal. Also easily accessible on our way to the mountain.

Came in on a packed day, Aaron was super helpful, juggling me and my friends all at once to get us to the mountain in no time. First time at the place but been to Stowe before. So far, best experience has been here.

We found AJ on Yelp on our way to Stowe. it was around 1pm, by the time we were done with rental and paying it was close to 2pm, luckily a staff member told us that Stowe closes at 4pm. The rental process is smooth, boots and board ($32), very reasonable. On our way to Stowe, we made a call to hit Bolton resort because they close at 10pm, but Bolton is 40 mins away. We should have gotten a refund and just rented from a place near Bolton, but such is life. We were not able to return the rental before AJ closed the day we rented. They told us that we can return the day after around opening time at 8am. After a full day of riding snowboard, we were not able to wake up early to return them at 8am which meant that we would have to wake up at 7am. AJ made us pay for a second day of rental. all is all, the experience at AJ was good, the negative part in my opinion is that, charging a person for a second day when you still had additional equipment to rent is bad business practice. At least offer a store credit for future use. There was a lady in front of my on line with the same predicament, except she had 4 rentals vesus one for me. She left upset and i left feeling cheated. I would understand if they ran out of the boots and board my size, but they still had some left... Personally, I would try another rental place when I go up again, but I don't think you will be too disappointed if you rent from AJ, staff was nice enough and the equipment was decent. Enjoy!

Rented skis from them, they were very professional, and service was quick. They also had some ski pants the wife wanted- the service was good and polite, and we ended up buying them. If I ever ski Stowe again, I would definitely rent from them again.

This is a centrally located store in Stowe. I had my work cut out to search around for different points of views via in-store visits in Stowe. This is a small town, where most business are out of commission by 4:pm which happens to be the cutoff in ski lift shutdowns in Stowe. The best thing I would recommend is to shop around. Found AJ's online, made my reservations and i got an email back with confirmation. I arrived on a Friday and my ski equipment reservation was for Saturday morning, but I visited the store just to get a feeling of the ambiance. From my personal experience, I was taken care appropriately. SKI GEAR SECTION: They were very patient, explained things well and on terms of equipment made good suggestions. SKI CLOTHING AREA: Felt this area was understaffed. But they had a good variety and quite a good sales. SKI EQUIPMENT RENTAL area, in basement: The staff here was excellent! Simply said! I started with a basic package, very affordable. Then the next day upgraded to next level which by the way had much more comfortable boots. Pros: You have to pass AJ's as you drive to the Stowe Mountain resort. They have good parking, If you are from the North East (big cities) you may have to be patient. It will pay off! The store is open until 8:00pm. In fact AJ's is one of the few places opened after 4pm. Cons: I can't say that I found any problems. These are human beings like us, and no one is perfect. Remember! A good attitude helps!

I had a great experience purchasing from AJ's Ski & Sports! I decided last minute to get my Son a new bike for his 5th birthday. After researching I decided on the Cannondale Cujo Race 20. Unfortunately only 3 stores had one available online, and only one of them, AJ's, offered delivery (the others only offered local delivery or pickup). I hadn't heard of AJ's but after reading some Yelp and Google reviews I thought I would give them a try. I ordered on Tuesday night June 29th, and I left a note that I would really appreciate expedited shipping because I need the bike to get to me by my sons birthday on Monday the 5th. I knew that from Stowe VT to San Diego CA with 4 business days left, it was cutting it really close. Especially since unlike Amazon, many smaller stores tend to take a couple of days just to process and prep the order for shipment. Fortunately for me, Jocelyn at AJ's Ski & Sports called me first thing in the morning. She left a voicemail letting me know that they can ship the bike out quickly same day, and that I just need to call them to pay for the expedited shipping. She seemed to genuinely care that I needed to make my Son's 5th birthday. I called back and paid for that over the phone, and they shipped that out straight away. The bike was delivered on Friday July 2nd, right in time for my sons 5th birthday on Monday. Thank you so much Jocelyn & AJ's Ski & Sports for saving me, and making my son very very happy on his 5th Birthday! The bike is amazing, and he loves it!

Friendly staff and knowledgeable on the areas trails and what might be best for your level. Decent price on bike rentals. I never rode a bike with different gears, they shouldn't assume every adult has rode a mountain bike, so make sure you ask questions. On a side note the scenic path is a great ride or walk for anyone. We stopped a few times to relax, take pictures and enjoy the peacefulness of the trail thats a total of 10 miles(5 there and 5 back).

As soon as the manager learned of my husbands ski accident he reached out to me via email and said he would reimburse us for the days we could not use the equipment. He was very understanding and professional. Highly recommend AJ's Ski & Sports for rentals and merchandise. Honest business.

Reasonable prices for rentals. Most importantly, great service and knowledgeable staff. We were visiting VT for the first time and they providing local insights to the best local spots and mouthing insights. We rental from them the first two days and ended up renting the full 6 days.

Friendly and helpful service. Fairly reasonable prices for the bikes we rented. Glad that helmets came with the bike rentals. Located right at the entrance of the bike trail. Definitely felt that it was a no-judgement zone. Bikes were in great shape and we got the help we needed to enjoy our day riding bikes.

Had a great experience renting a snowboard with AJs. Reserve online if you can. The folks working there are very knowledgeable and quick to help you. I had an initial issue with my bindings on the first day, and AJ's quickly diagnosed and swapped in new bindings for the next day. I would definitely return and consider purchasing their demo boards at the end of the season. My boyfriend bought a pair of expensive gloves there that didn't really keep him warm, though that has nothing to do with the store -- just look up reviews online before purchasing those types of items.

This bike shop is friendly and helpful. We had a great experience on the Stowe Recreation path. We rented bikes. The Yelp coupon saved us $7.

The store is well stocked. But it's super crowded with merchandise and hardly any salespeople. And definitely no one of help. The conditions inside the store would lead you to believe it's a discount shop but instead it's super expensive. Prices are cheaper on the mountain...
