Granbell Hotel Akasaka (Tokyo, Tokyo) 8 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At this point in history an affordable, stylish city-center boutique shouldn’t really be a novelty. But in Tokyo it still is. Here you’ll find some of the finest high-luxury accommodation in the world, as well as a plentiful supply of average and below-average business hotels. But places like the Granbell are out to change that, one hotel at a time — first in Shibuya, and now in Akasaka as well." - Tablet Hotels

Very central and well-connected location surrounded by convenience stores and amazing restaurants. The unlimited water bottles, tea, and coffee were a great service, but the rooms smelled strongly of mildew and were very cramped. The carpet was also old and air vents very dusty. Great if you don’t intend to spend a lot of time chilling in the hotel, but my partner was sick on this trip and it wasn’t a very pleasant environment to dwell in and he woke up very congested. Staff were lovely and very helpful, but the smell was unfortunate and made us very self-conscious about clothes

Having read the reviews I wasn't sure that this place would be good, but it was. It's also better than the very nearby Risveglio (where I have stayed previously). BUT note that I took the large /premium room, which made a big difference. I saw one of the standard rooms whilst it ws being cleaned and it looked like the typical tiny Tokyo hotel rooms, whereas the premium double really was large enough to not feel cramped. ||Pros: Excellent location, good bathroom with good pressure and plenty of hot water. Good internet, comfortable room (getting a little tired but nothing too bad) and big desk. Also, the staff all speak English, which they don't at the Risveglio. ||Only cons really are that the breakfast is very basic and the aforementioned slightly tatty furniture. Oh, and in the case of the premium room there was actually space for a bit more built in storage than is actually provided, so it would have been nice to have had a proper wardrobe. Risveglio is a bit newer and more "cool", but the Granbell is actually better appointed and more comfortable. Recommended overall (but note that this applies only to the larger premium double room) and I would / will return.

Quite central but very loud. Without a doubt the smallest room (9m2 including bathroom max) I've ever experienced. Bed was a large single for 2 people. Breakfast the worst I've ever had (see photos). Went and bought my own toast bread so I could make a cheese toastie as only stale rolls and cereal offered. Also had to eat it in your room. Now in Centurion hotel 50m away. Normal size rooms/bed and cheaper.

Wonderful hotel. Very central and lots of offerings to guests to make the stay so seamless! Loved the location as well, very central and great lively neighborhood (but rooms were quiet). Don’t sleep on the sushi place right next to the hotel. It’s open until 1 am.

As a Female solo traveler I felt safe. The area is good, it’s like a 30 minute walk to the Tokyo tower and everything is easily reachable by the metro (5 minute walk to the station). Many stores and restaurants near by. The staff is VERY nice. I would most definitely recommend especially for the price. If ever again in Tokyo, I will definitely come back.

Hotel location is close to convenience store and metro. The staff is friendly as well. But the room is small and the hotel is a bit old as well. Overall speaking, it is still acceptable! It is safe for solo travelers as well

My first time in Tokyo and this hotel was suggested by my daughter who had stayed there. I loved the location , steps away from the metro that can take you anywhere , and a stop for the airport limousine to take you to the airport. |Ton of places to eat in the neighborhood, very active with locals but not overly touristy like shinjuko.

Standard business hotel with deeply mediocre rooms. Very poorly lit with only one single outlet and strangely designed - my room only had a glass wall separating the bathroom from the room and only a curtain separating the shower area. Cannot beat the location though - generally safe, so close to well-connected stations and surrounded with various eateries. But I did appreciate the free water and free breakfast foods offered.
