This is a lovely Pension/ hotel in tranquil and serene surroundings. This is a quaint and charming venue. It has a boho type vibe which we loved . We first stayed here 8 years ago and staying here again was as adorable if not more ! The rooms are clean comfortable and with vibrant colours and decor - excellent touch to have fridge freezer in the room and air conditioning works very well . Showers are great , and balconies make a lovely addition . Breakfasts are always fresh, healthy and adequate. The hosts will cook eggs to your liking, just ask . The home made jams are very tasty, my favourite was the orange! The hosts Aishe and Kazim are very helpful and interested in making the stay comfortable and enjoyable . There is a personal touch and they will go out of their way to accommodate their guests, Kazim kindly dropped us off at the beach whenever he saw us going . The pension has fabulous seating area, dining area and pool area. We especially enjoyed the wonderful pool and lounge area on our final day.

13 visits in 10 years since 2015 is because this is such a good place to be. Although the village is officially Gelemis, most people call it Patara because of the ancient ruins and fabulous Patara Beach. The Akay Hotel is a small establishment owned and run by Kazim Akay and his wife Ayşe who has a well earned reputation as an excellent cook. |The hotel has been upgraded over the winter, but still retains its charm. Rooms are suitable for solo, couple, family holidays or groups from just overnight to however many days you want within the season. Just contact Kazim. |Each room is en suite, has balcony or terrace and air-con, and fridge. There’s a pool, ottoman lounge and a garden terrace. Breakfast and dinner (if requested) are served in the terrace dining area. Tea and coffee are available free during the day. Soft and alcoholic drinks are also available at reasonable prices. Fresh orange or lemon juice is available on request in season from the Akays own trees.|There’s always a warm welcome at the Akay and as the plaque on the wall says, “those who arrive as guests - leave as friends”.

An absolute, hidden gem of authentic Turkish hospitality. I booked with a bit of anxiety, as the photos do not necessarily look very appealing, but the rooms and bathrooms are renovated, with efficient air-conditioning and nice decorations. The pool area is also very clean and inviting, there are multiple spaces to relax and suntan, pool towels are of course provided. But the best thing are the hosts - they greeted us as if we were their friends, long unseen, provided with useful tips and info about the area, made us feel truly at home. And oh, the food! Ayse is an amazing cook, after the first dinner we have not eaten anywhere else for the four days we spent there. So, avoid if you want to lose weight, you will not be able to with her delectable dishes 😀 Tip: the rooms on the top floor are the nicest, and the garden/pool side is the most quiet. There is a washing machine available, for a modest fee.

The owner is so helpful on giving advice on what to do and how to do. Place is safe but a bit old. There is a garage and a nice pool as well. Totally worth for the stay.

Once again I’m back at this wonderful family run hotel in Patara. A warm welcome always awaits visitors, be they family, couple or solo travellers.|Kazim and his wife Ayşe have recently added another floor to the accommodation with beautifully appointed rooms in a penthouse style the design of which is repeated in the rest of the rooms on the lower floors. |A simple, but filling breakfast is served in the terrace dining area, tea and coffee are available from the servery self service all day, dinner is served in the evening, booking ahead is advised. Ayşe is in charge of the kitchen and her reputation is well know for good Turkish food, cooked fresh every day. Dinner is main course, chopped salad, bread and a sweet. Drinks of various brands are available.|Patara is famous for its beach and ruins and Kazim happily advises you about places to visit, and will arrange airport transfers, taxis etc if needed.|I’ve stayed here many times and will certainly be back again.

For anyone wanting to get away from it all, the Akay hotel in Patara is the answer. On the edge of a small quiet village, it offers clean rooms, good local food, and a personable and informative owner. The reasonably priced room rate includes Turkish breakfast and a set dinner cooked by the owner's wife. Every meal is plentiful, filling and delicious. The area is surrounded by mountains, and the sea is five minutes away by bus, half an hours walk by road, or 45 minutes following an ancient Licean path through the hills. The larger resorts of Kalkan or Kas are both bus rides away, with frequent services. There is a 20 metre swimming pool with loungers to sit around if preferred. I can't rate this hotel highly enough

We had another wonderful week at the Akay Hotel - our seventh visit over the years! I’ve written many times about what makes the Akay special - its location, its excellent restaurant and, of course, the warm hospitality of Kazim and Ayse. ||But in this review I wanted to draw attention to how safe we felt on our holiday here (during the COVID 19 pandemic). The Akay Hotel was always clean; the restaurant tables were well spaced and we felt safe at all times. ||The beach is also so large that it’s easy to find your own spot - always a great benefit, but particularly so now. ||We had a really wonderful holiday, which is pretty amazing in 2020. If you are able to travel I’d really recommend a trip to Patara and the Akay Hotel - it was very safe, lovely and a real luxury to have such a great break in these times. ||Thank you Kazim and Ayse - see you again soon.

We are just back from a weeks holiday staying at Akay Pension.||||If you want superb hospitality and truly excellent food stay here. Kazim and his small team of staff will certainly ensure you have everything you need.||||Ayse’s cooking is excellent and the portions are huge. We ate here 6 nights out of 7 and were never disappointed. The Akay dining experience is also very good value.||||The pool area is spotlessly clean and was always quiet empty, definitely no early morning towels on beds here. ||||On our last day we had a late flight, did that matter of course not! There was somewhere to leave your luggage and have a shower. So we could squeeze in one last visit to the wonderful Patara Beach.||||There are a few shops and cafes 5 minutes walk away. Kalkan is about 15 minutes drive away, if you need a nightlife fix. Taxis are cheap and abundant. ||||We look forward to our return next year! ||||Thank you Ayse and Kazim for the most relaxing holiday we have ever had.||||Julie and Roger
