From the moment we arrived, the service stood out—gracious, and attentive. The food was outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavour. A special highlight was when the renowned chef made his rounds through the dining room, personally greeting guests. It added a warm and personal touch that elevated the evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking for high-end cuisine paired with impeccable service.

Came here for our anniversary and had a great time overall. The food was good and the vibes were amazing, definitely a nice spot for a special night out. I saw a lot of people raving about the mushroom pizza, but personally found it pretty bland. The tuna pizza was much better and would be my go-to recommendation. We also tried the wagyu tacos, super flavourful at first, but they started to feel a bit heavy and repetitive after the first one. Still, a solid experience and worth checking out!

Came here for our anniversary last night and had a wonderful experience. Our server Jen was amazing and I hope she gets recognized for what a wonderful person she is. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was nice. I like how pretty my cocktail was. I think I got the Geisha. Would recommend and will come back again 🥰

Elevated flavors, artistic presentation, and an unforgettable vibe Dining at Akira Back was a full sensory experience. From the moment we were seated, the ambiance set the tone—sleek, moody, and elegant. Every dish was a work of art. The signature tuna pizza was as delicious as it was visually stunning—crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. We also tried a few hot dishes and sushi—each bite was rich, balanced, and full of creative flair. The attention to detail, from plating to service, was impeccable. Cocktails were beautifully crafted and complemented the menu perfectly. Whether you’re celebrating or just in the mood for something special, Akira Back delivers a luxurious yet welcoming culinary experience. A must-visit for food lovers in the city!

Absolutely amazing. Cozy atmosphere that is perfect for a date night or an intimate gathering. Cold dishes and hot dishes were both spot on! Perfect meal. I will definitely come back! TUNA TATAKI: Soft and creamy tuna wraps around your tongue once you take a bite, with a slightly punchy, refreshing dressing. 48 HOURS WAGYU SHORT RIB: Perfectly cooked, buttery, meaty, melts in your mouth instantly. BROTHER FROM ANOTHER MOTHER (Roll): Fresh fish and fun textures, the foie gras blends in well, but the dressing could be cut back a little. KING CRAB FRIED RICE: Seasoned well, nice little kick. Super aromatic. The XO sauce really elevates it. AB CIGAR: The miso-caramel ice cream combo is surprisingly good. Must try if you are into sweet-savoury desserts.

We finally had the chance to visit Akira Back, a restaurant that had been on our must-try list for ages. We went recently for a girls’ night out, and it did not disappoint. The interior is absolutely stunning, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. Our waitress was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. The menu offers an impressive variety of sushi options, along with a fantastic selection of cocktails — making it a spot we’ll definitely be returning to. We ordered their tuna/mushroom pizza, toro tartare, cucumber salad, Wagyu tacos and one of their signature rolls. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The tuna and mushroom pizza struck the perfect balance — neither flavor overwhelmed the other, creating a truly harmonious bite. The taro tartare was unbelievably smooth, practically melting in our mouth🤤. As for the sushi rolls, they were incredibly fresh, exactly the quality you’d expect from a top-tier chef!

Vibey ambiance and delicious food makes for the perfect date! I highly recommend this restaurant for great tasting fusion Japanese food and excellent service. We had a variety of dishes and each dish was delicious. We had this sampler with lots of different types of Japanese favorites and it was served against this really cool smokey container. This really wowed us and would surely impress your date! Our food came out promptly and all the service staff was awesome! Check out the video for the smokey drink and food!

Recently took my partner to Akira Back, celebrating his birthday - and what a great way to celebrate ! We arrived as the restaurant was just opening, as we had a concert to go to that night, and was able to pick the perfect spot - enjoyed the window table in the “golden area”, for the natural light and see the kitchen busy at work. Our waiter made some great recommendations and we attempted to try multiple items on the list - to start with, a delicious cocktail with an amazing presentation. Overall, I felt like all menu options were delicious - the pictures showing some of our favourites, including the tacos. The short rib was a splurge but well worth it, absolutely delicious !! And the cigar look ice cream to finish was a cool take on a birthday desert/desert in general.

Yelp
Went here for a special event where Akira Back himself was in town hosting guests. Was pleasantly surprised at how good this was because I always thought it was one of those trendy places that looked cool for instagram but the food sucked. Pretty much like every place in Miami. Stand out dish was Akira Back's signature Tuna/Mushroom pizza dish which was eye rolling to the back of your head good. Decor is beautiful and trendy. Dark elegant theme.

Yelp
Located downtown Toronto about 15mins away from Yorkville. The place on the second floor, hostess is at the outside and on the second floor. Best to reserve a table and usually quite busy on the weekend. We went here for around 10pm last min table seating basically. We got served by Sean (Shawn) very nice and attentive server. Honestly all the food was great? The line dessert wasn't something I like but I think it was because we were too full. The food's certainly on the pricey side so don't come if you don't plan to spend a few hundreds. We got a couple of shots and some drinks as well so that contributed to the bill being so high. The wagyu tacos were amazing though, definitely a favourite and the 48-hour rib was incredible, absolutely melted in my mouth. I would come here again!

Yelp
My friend wanted to celebrate her work accomplishment here. She's been here before. My first time. I've heard many like it here. This is MEH for me. We didn't eat much and the bill was $220. One salmon roll, hamachi Serrano, corn tempura, recommended deconstructed apple pie which wasn't so great and hard to scoop up with just a spoon. We both had a cocktail about $20-26 each. I ordered the Geisha, too sugary. I didn't finish it. The server was attentive and nice as my friend asked about different things. 4 stars for service It's Feb - dead cold. Thursday night bad economy so it was 1/3-1/2 full at most. Would I come here for Japanese ... no not really, happy to come for my friend. Happy to come for the vibe during busy season / hours ... not coming back just for food

Yelp
Wow the hype is real. Akira Back is a great restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or just a good date night spot. The food and service are top notch. The waiter we had knew the menu well and suggested amazing dishes. The drinks are also really cool as well! The wagyu tacos were the main items you see people getting but were a let down. Everything else was amazing, especially the mushroom pizza and the king crab fried rice. I wish I tried more items but will definitely be back. You can also take great pics in the staircase! 5/5

Yelp
Went to Akira Back not so long ago and enjoyed the experience. This is an expensive restaurant to eat at but very high quality food. Service was amazing. With food arriving at a timely manner and waiters checking in on us once in a while. I made reservations in advance just in case but upon arriving place wasn't that busy. Overall food was good! As mentioned, it is pricey but worth it for the experience! All of the dishes we got were full of flavour and cooked to perfection.

Yelp
This was the first time we got to experience a Michelin star restaurant and I'm glad our first experience was at Akira Back! As soon as you enter, you can either take the elevator up or talk up their famous gold stairs (this will also be a great photo op!). We made reservations (highly recommend but I believe it is not necessary) and each seating is alloted 2 hours, which is necessary to fully imerse yourself in the experience. As soon as we were seated, we were asked if we had any dietary restictions. As I am currently pregnant, I notifed them that I could not have any raw food. I was happy to see that I was still able to enjoy many of the dishes! Here are some of our favourites: -corn tempura served with truffle oil -half and half pizza (mushroom and tuna) -wagyu beef tacos -miso glazed black cod -wagyu fried rice -chocolate dessert I was also surprised to see there were so many young families - I look forward to bringing my little ones in the future!

Yelp
This is an innovative Japanese Cuisine Restaurant, the main problem is the sashimi is not fresh, both my wife and I are Sashimi lover, normally our stomach is strong enough to digest everything, never had diarrhea, we ate there last night, my wife felt bad till this afternoon, even after we flew back Vancouver, she still had diarrhea. Another issue is they struggling between Japanese and Western style, which caused they lost themselves, the taste is so plain, the design is nice and good just not tasty. Of course, it is very small, small is not the issue, the taste is "plain", they are not cheap. So it is just not worth it. Service is reasonable okay, if you drink something there maybe ok, By the way, I hope you can survive in that aloud background noise. Not very enjoyable if you want to stay in a nice quiet restaurant. The key thing is the freshness. Bad experience.

Yelp
Went to celebrate a birthday. Every server and busser and host passing by wished my partner a happy birthday. The server Raay was incredible at giving food recommendation and generally provided amazing service. A truely perfect spot for a special occasion Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
I visit this place every time I go to Toronto which is on average every 3 months. The food has been exceptional every time. I prefer it to Nobu. The sashimi melts in your mouth. The service, quality, the ambiance and freshness of the fish has been outstanding. Would highly recommend it. It is an expensive restaurant but worth every penny.

Yelp
Food - 5/5 Drinks - 4/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Service - 2/5 My husband and I went for NYE. Upon arriving, I loved the feel of the place. It was dark and moody and perfect for a date night. It was a set menu of 4 courses, first 2 courses were preset and you can choose you main entree and dessert. All the food was delicious. Our favorites being the mushroom/tuna pizza, the scallops and the desserts. We both ordered 2 cocktails as well and they were all delicious and had great presentation. Now as for service, maybe it was NYE or maybe he was having a bad day. But the moment we sat down and was greeted by him, it just made for an unpleasant experience. I felt rushed through the dinner and when we wanted to order another round of drinks, he seemed annoyed. The other interactions by the table clearers and the other staff was very pleasant though so I can bring that up to 3/5 stars. Overall, a nice experience but I do think service is important especially at that price point. So I have to dock off a point for that one.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
The service was excellent! The ambiance is trendy and classy, great for special occasions. The food was good too but not memorable for me, therefore didn't give it a higher rating. Further, the portions were small and pricey. That said, each item I had were delicious when I had it, particularly the Wagyu short ribs, but not impressive enough I would return.

Yelp
Went for a friend's birthday. The decor is beautiful and the staff is very nice. We were told you're meant to share a few dishes so we ordered several options from each section of the menu. Since I don't eat fish, I just nibbled on a few things. The standout was the tacos but they're very small. I really liked them though. The crispy octopus was good but the portion was very small given the price point. The potato purée texture was a little off but the sauces were delicious and the batter was light and crispy. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a bite of matcha cake which was nice of them. The server was really nice but my water sat empty for a while here and there. The only other thing to note is that portions are pretty small.

Yelp
Absolutely best experience ever! Customer service was impeccable and food was delicious! Will definitely come back my next trip to Toronto. The ambiance is very beautiful and intimate as well

Yelp
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Nice Decor. The service wise was also good. The food wise, it was not as good as I thought they could be. Wagyu taco - I cannot taste any wagyu beef that's only because it was overloaded with bulgogi sauce. I think any beef mix with any bulgogi sauce would taste just as good. Using the wagyu beef is a bit of a waste here, in my opinion. Miso Black cod - again overloaded with miso paste. There was a foam to pair with the fish as a dipping sauce. However, because the miso is so overpowering , I could barely find any balance when I tasted them together. I needed water to rinse off any excess salt in my month. KING CRAB FRIED RICE - yes I could taste the ox sauce. I am not sure if it is overloaded but I cannot taste any king crab flavour, which i was looking far. It is also mild spicy as well that it didn't that much. AB CIGAR - This might be the best dish out of everything we ordered. I'm not certain if they actually used miso, but I could definitely taste the salty note in the caramel ice cream, which was delicious. The cocoa nibs added the perfect touch of crunch. Calm and Zen - Non-alcoholic drink, with chamomile tea, passion fruit, pineapple, and ginger beer. It tasted pretty good too.

Yelp
Very cool interior great service and good food! Top picks were: Wagyu short ribs Sashimi tacos Mushroom & tuna pizza Uni sushi Cigar - seasame ice cream Yuzu cocktail The pop rock sushi was decent but not outstanding The beef tacos divided our table some lived then some thought they were a tad too sweet. The beef wagu fried rice was disappointing Overall we loved our meal and had a great time.

Yelp
A very interesting and tasty meal. I was staying at the adjacent hotel and the front desk convinced me to visit Akira Back. Definitely a good choice. They presented the food brilliantly and there were many great dishes. I had the surprise box, pretty much a tasting menu of 9 dishes. There was not one dish I did not enjoy and again brilliant presentation, it came "smoking" and the effect was really entertaining. I also ordered the tuna tartare which i would recommend with a caveat, the tuna comes with multiple accompaniments and you mix them together, I would have preferred if the waiter did it as I found it was challenging with chop sticks. While the surprise box in and of itself was enough for a meal, I couldn't get enough of all the flavours and ordered the miso eggplant (arguably for dessert) and it was also great. Fantastic flavour. Thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Yelp
Excellent service, astounding aesthetic design along with an impeccable dinner. Came to celebrate my birthday here and since we were staying at the Bisha Hotel for the night, the hubs made reservations here for a Thursday night. As soon as we arrived for our reservation, the host was very accommodating and seated us right away. We started with the sushi pizza and it was to die for, fresh tuna on unique but super yummy crust. Sashimi was very fresh, and also ordered tuna rolls which were good but not as memorable as their other dishes. We loved the miso cod, super tender and perfectly cooked and prepared along with beet foam. The garlic wagyu steak sizzled its way to our tummies and loved everyboujce of their deliciousness in its sizzling garlic marinade on a hot wooden dish. Will definitely have to come back next time we're in TO!

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday at Akira Back and it was so good! The food was amazing and the service was great as well. I started off with the yellowtail serrano and mushroom/tuna pizza. Both were so flavourful and unique. I would definitely order these again. I had the sea bass as my main which was good. I particularly liked the brussels sprouts on the side; they were so crunchy. The sea bass didn't blow me away though. I will probably try another main next time. I got a king crab fried rice on the side which was surprisingly so good. I was a bit disappointed with the show me the roll. The roll wasn't anything special in my opinion. I ended off the meal with the apple harumaki dessert. It was kind of like an apple pie. I wasn't a huge fan. We also got the lychee and pineapple mocktails. Both were delicious and sweet. The lychee one was my favourite. The apps are a must order and a highlight of my meal. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

Yelp
Outstanding restaurant!! Wish we could have tried everything on the menu. We ate "family style" with our kids and everyone enjoyed it (see pics). Overall favorites were the wagyu tacos and short ribs, but everything was outstanding. If you enjoy Asian fusion, this is a must!!

Yelp
Embarking on a gastronomic voyage, Akira Back presented an exquisite array of offerings. Ordered: Tuna and Mushroom Pizza $27 Crispy Rice $22 Rock Shrimp $22 AB Wagyu Tacos $26 Show Me the Roll $26 Wagyu Fried Rice $20 Lady Murasaki $20 Kumiho $20 While the price point was notable, the adventure proved worthy for the exceptional culinary exploration. The stunning interior design adds to the allure, making [Restaurant Name] a worthwhile destination, even if just for a single memorable visit.

Yelp
what an experience. Next time I come I will probably indulge in 5 orders of the Wagyu tacos because they absolutely melted in my mouth. Service was great once they finally took our order and the ambiance of the place is very intimate, perfect for a date night.

Yelp
Came here for a friends bday, hoping it would live up to the hype and it did! Intimate cozy environment, dark and classy. Sets the vibe for you to focus on the food itself. Food: - Pop Rockin' - one of my favorite rolls, the experience of having watermelon pop rocks embedded in your roll takes you in for a surprise. A play on your taste buds and a unique dining experience~ within your food. What a unique concept that worked so well with the flavors. - lychee martini- according to the server it's known For their martinis -tuna/mushroom pizza - honestly 5/5 would come back for this. The truffle oil, and the crunch, flaky, crust on the bottle is so simple yet so so buttery and yummy. The tuna side is fresh, just the right amount and doesn't over power the pizza crust. Mmmm. -black cod, miso- flaky fish, pretty good, flavourful, umami. So good! - bulgogi beef tacos - small x3, was not a huge fan of it, found it a little toooo sweet, and the sauce was quite over powering.. If you're a fan of saucy, sweet bulgogi, order, but probably won't be recommending in the future. - wagyu beef fried rice - generous portion to split, with little chunks of beef. Savory, and a great compliment to the side dishes. Service: kind and friendly. Attentive to water (never had my water empty). Clean place mat every time we sat waiting in between entrees. Food was a steady flow once it started to come out of the kitchen. Loved it, would recommend and come back for more!!

Yelp
I guess it's nice to try it once to say you've tried it but definitely not worth the monies when there are so many other options with a smaller price tag for items you can probably create at home. Bragging rights to say you ate at a Michelin Restaurant. Try these: White Fish Carpaccio: nothing memorable but good in terms of flavour. Very tangy on the palette Crispy Rice: this was my personal favorite. I found it to be quite enjoyable and pleasant Octopus Crudo: very interesting flavour concept. The portion was kinda depressing. Pass on These: AB Wangu Tacos: absolute trash. These are an extreme example of what depression tastes like in a fancy restaurant. They tasted like nothing. Even the off the box grocery store option was better. No one in my group enjoyed these. Tuna/mushroom pizza: literally a thin piece of tuna or mushroom on a cracker base. Pop Rockin: DO NOT GET. It is a literally something you can make with maybe $5 worth of groceries. Minus the fact that it was imitation crab and not the real thing, I was extremely upset with how soggy and underwhelming it actually was. Lamb Chops: red masala sauce?! I was slightly confused with the concept of this. The desserts were alright. My favorite was the cappuccino when it was all over. The service was nice but I expected nothing less considering the cost of eating here.

Nate D.

Yelp
This place is a 5 star experience. Every dish I tried from the short rib, edamame, show me the money sushi roll, chicken, mushroom platter, and the desserts were amazing. This spot is blessed with amazing management and service. They are on top of everything. I am truly impressed by the top tier staff they have working here. God bless them! Very cool location with nice ambiance! I highly recommend!!

Yelp
I came here about 4 years ago and returned with two friends because we missed the pizza. The ambiance and service are just as good as they used to be. Dimmed atmosphere, which is perfect for a date. We didn't order any main this time. Instead, we got several small plates for sharing. The dishes that stood out were the tuna pizza and mushroom pizza, and the Wagyu taco. We came here for the pizza, so I am happy that they were just as good as they used to be. The Wagyu taco is savoury and not too heavy, making it perfect for sharing. Other dishes we got were not outstanding but are still okay. I may come back next time to try their mains.

Yelp
Came here the second time, and still one of my top fav! Go to Dish 1. Ribeye - 5/5 we ordered medium. Perfect texture, not too soft not too hard, super juicy. The wasabi sauce wasn't as spicy as we thought which is great coz im not a fan of wasabi. 2. Tuna/Mushroom Pizza 5/5 - its the perfect appetizer before any hot dish. Its light and crispy. DELICIOUS. 3. Waygu Taco 5/5 its a bit spicy, but super favourable! We ordered 2 orders coz it was THAT GOOD! Go give it a try! (:

Yelp
Luxury upscale dining experience. Ordered the tuna crispy rice and it was melt-in-your-mouth savory and delicious! Got a few cocktails, and had an intimate and luxurious evening. Highly recommend for a date night.

Yelp
Hard not to love this place. A fusion of quality, Japanese, and experimentation. Was lucky enough to almost try the entire menu. My favourite dish (other than the amazing sashimi) ended up being their "pizza." Service bombed, however.

Yelp
Really good food and great ambience. Super dark and romantic vibes. The service was good as well. A little overpriced, but it is expected for the type of restaurant it was.

Yelp
For whatever reason I always forget about Akira Back, and I have no idea why! Every time I'm here I'm impressed with their food offerings and service. We were back on a Fri night and the place was packed as usual- our table was ready before we arrived (love when venues honour reservation times) and we were escorted to our seats right away by very friendly beautiful hostesses. The server greeted us immediately and got us started with some amazing cocktails. They make a GREAT off menu lychee martini which was a lovely surprise as I haven't been able to find a good one in Toronto recently. We're quite efficient diners so we ordered right away and devoured every plate! I don't eat meat but my partner loved the wagyu tacos and chicken- he actually finished his plates which is impressive as he rarely does. The fish options are always amazing and their desserts were simple but beautifully presented and had us wanting more! Our server was very on point- asking us if we were celebrating anything, and just noticing all the little things that was able to make it a extra special experience for us! I definitely will remember to return more often as I always leave with a positive experience.

Yelp
I booked a reservation at Akira back to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. I was able to book quite easily on OpenTable. But I did need to make the reservation quite a bit in advance as they do book up quite quickly. We parked at a parking garage nearby which was quite reasonable for downtown parking prices. We headed up to the restaurant which is located inside the Bisha hotel. The Decour is very dark and the crowd is quite loud, young and rowdy. But we didn't mind. Just thought I'd mention it in case that vibe isn't for you. Now onto the food. This was one of the best dining experiences we've had in Toronto. Each dish was a hit and we finished every last piece. The prices are on the high side and the dishes are on the small side but they are made to perfection. Definitely a place you'd only go on special occasions. Rock shrimp - crispy, flavourful, tender, delicious. Jidori chicken - i'm not sure how they cooked those but it was absolute perfection. Crispy skin and absolutely juicy tender interior. Ribeye - Perfectly cooked steak, we weren't the biggest fan of the wasabi sauce but that's just personal preference.

Yelp
We were looking to celebrate our anniversary and we were thinking we wanted some high-end sushi, so a little research pointed us in the direction of Akira Back. We showed up right on time for our 7:00 reservation and were shown to a nice table in the middle of the restaurant. I was immediately impressed by the dimly-lit, artfully-designed dining room. (I wasn't quite as impressed by the calibre of the other patrons, though. It felt like we were surrounded by dolled-up influencers and obnoxious businessmen. The food was excellent, yes, but the place seems to be catering to the wrong type of crowd.) We decided to share a few different things. From the Cold Share side of the menu, we got White Fish Carpaccio ("gooseberry / nanbanzu") and Hokkaido Scallop Kiwi ("onion salsa / truffle paste / yuzu soy"). Both of these dishes are excellent. The Hokkaido Scallop Kiwi is especially mind-blowing, as it's full of flavor and somehow manages to incorporate kiwi into a scallop dish. It's really terrific. Our only pick from the Hot Share section was the AB Wagyu Tacos ("bulgogi sauce / tomato ponzu") and holy moly did I enjoy the heck out of these. The very tasty ground beef was enhanced by the bulgogi sauce and tomato ponzu, and honestly I could've eaten about a dozen of these things. Finally, we decided to order a couple of rolls from the Akira's Signature Rolls section: Hot Mess ("sashimi poke / screaming o' sauce") and Show Me the Roll ("shrimp tempura / salmon belly aburi / chipotle sauce"). I really enjoyed both of these rolls. They had traditional elements but also felt completely original and innovative, which I definitely appreciated. Really top-notch stuff. (I do want to note that all of our dishes were brought out super quickly, to the point where we were finished eating less than a half hour after we ordered. It felt very off-putting, and I couldn't help but wonder if we were being rushed so they could turn over the table.) We closed out the meal with the Chocolate in a Cup ("nutella chocolate cake / vanilla ice cream / banana foam") and this turned out to be the weakest part of the meal. The chocolate cake was unevenly heated, as though it had been microwaved, and the icy, far-from-smooth ice cream was too firm to really enjoy. Honestly, this tasted like something a young child would make for you at home. All in all, I did enjoy my meal at Akira Back, but considering we spent well over $200, I do wish that certain things had been improved. (Again, why was our food rushed out to us?)

Yelp
The interior is beautifully decorated with a super intimate feel. It's definitely a date night place. As for the food, it was good but unfortunately the service wasn't up to par. The wagyu tacos were yummy but if you didn't tell me they were wagyu I would've just assumed it was regular beef. Also they look bigger in the pictures, they're actually just two biters. The jeju domi was like a fish sashimi with a sauce that tasted like orange blossom and gochujang which was interesting. The rock shrimp was deep fried with a spicy sriracha sauce that was actually decently spicy. The wagyu short rib is super delicious so would get that again. However, I would pass on the brother from another mother roll as it wasn't anything special. The biggest downside to my dinner was that service was really slow. Dishes came out one by one with a long wait time in between and my preference when eating tapas style is to have at least a couple dishes at the same time. It might have just been because it was the holidays and they were short on staff.

Yelp
The food was okay , but the price was outrageous and the serving sizes were very small, I spent $150 usd and we were still so hungry after. The best part of this place is the service which was friendly. I would not return again just due to the price to food ratio which is just too small.

Excellent service with a cool look. I had a party we came here for with some friends. The service was excellent. The food was very good with only 2 plates i didn't love out of the entire meal. The sauces were exceptional and made the dishes memorable. Definitely will be trying it on a regular experience vs a large party. I would give it a 4.5/5 based on the group experience.

Yelp
Amazing dining experience. Tried some of the best food I've ever had in my life. God only knows how they made my dessert because it was so beautiful. Waiter was kind, knowledgeable, and funny. It had a perfect night ambiance with modern designs inside.

Yelp
This place is pretty mid despite its price point, definitely have had better sushi for less than half the price. One of my pieces tasted off and the wagyu fried rice dish was one of the worst I've had. The old fashioned I got tasted terrible as well - they don't add simple syrup so it's basically a whiskey on the rocks with bullet bourbon for $20. I can usually justify a high price point with ambiance but the fact that the restaurant was not air conditioned enough ruins that as well, was hot and uncomfortable. Two stars instead of one because the service was good and the dessert was creative

Yelp
I get it...due to Covid, restaurants are placing QR code stickers on the table/picture frame so guest can see the menu online. That works for me no problem. The problem is...where is the QR code? Why does every table has a QR code in the table and ours don't? When I asked the question to our server, he said you are supposed to keep that page when you came in when you did your Covid questionnaire. Who keeps that page after answering the questions? The point is every other table has it and ours don't. He should have realized that we are missing the QR code on the table from the beginning when he offered water. The restaurant should also offer paper copies of the menu in case some quests are not techsavvy or simply prefers to read a paper menu. Anyways we got passed that and moved on to ordering food. As someone who has tried many different kinds of Japanese food from omakase to Kaiseki and have travelled to Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Okinawa in Japan, I am quite picky on my Japanese food. We ordered two cold dishes - yellowtail Serrano and the Hokkaido yuzu kiwi. Surprisingly, they were quite fresh but I think the truffle didn't match well with the Hokkaido sushi. The strong taste of the truffle oil overshadowed the freshness of the Hokkaido scallop. The best dish of the night was the Alaskan king crab legs. It is very meaty and baked to perfection. The wagyu tacos was nothing special. If they didn't say that it is made from wagyu beef, I couldn't even tell cuz it tasted just like regular bulgogi beef. The two sushi rolls were fine but they were way overloaded with sauce. The sushi's are like swimming in the sauce. You can barely taste the ingredients in the sushi. The desserts were just mediocre... Overall, the hype for this restaurant is way over done. The environment is very noisy like a sports bar. I don't see a reason to come back again.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my birthday. Akira Back exudes an upscale air - there are swanky booths and tables on the sides, and we were seated in the centre. It was pretty dark, but not bothersome. We were undecided on the mushroom and tuna pizza so opted for half and half. We devoured it in no time, and had to order a second round because it was so good! I highly recommend doing the half and half to start. The yellowtail Serrano was also another favourite. Really tasty, and full of flavour. I also loved the AB Wagyu tacos. The meat was flavourful and the taco shell delightfully crispy. I love uni, so I was pretty excited to try the Triple Uni. It didn't disappoint. The rolls were also great choices and super tasty. Can't go wrong with either of them. Pretty much everything we ordered was delicious; however, the only mediocre dish we could do without was the baked crab hand roll. The Nori cone we had for dessert was also good! I would absolutely return to Akira Back. The atmosphere is nice, the food is amazing, and even the plates are gorgeous.

Yelp
Our favourite restaurant in Toronto! We usually go here for special occasions and every time we've been, it has not disappointed. While entering the restaurant, you feel like you're part of a swanky VIP club. The staff are top notch, attentive and very accomodating. Food itself is superb and reasonably priced for the type of establishment. Highlights included the tuna mushroom pizza, wagyu tacos, hokkaido scallop kiwi, and rib eye. Skip the rock shrimp.

Yelp
Made reservations to come here with my boyfriend for my birthday and when walking in, you'll notice the place is pretty upscale and classy looking with dim lights and candle lit dinners. Got the lady murasaki drink which I enjoyed since I like cocktails that are on the sweeter side. For the food, however, we thought it was alright and honestly pretty average for their price points. We got some shareables including their crispy rice, wagyu tacos, show me the roll, as well as lamb chops for their main. My overall favourite would have to be the wagyu tacos, as it was pretty flavourful, although the portions were very small. The lamb chops and vegetable fried rice we had ordered was also very tasty, however, everything else was nothing special. Likely would not come back, simply because we found the food to be underwhelming.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful aesthetically and the service was quick and dishes came out fairly fast. If you're a person who likes taking pictures, there's a beautiful staircase and opportunities for that. The food was mediocre, I thought the waygu steak tacos would actually be pieces of waygu steak but unfortunately it was ground beef and did not taste better then your average at home tacos. The steak was cooked to medium well done and it had loads of fat. And the lamb chops were cooked to perfection. Me personally I'm glad I went, but the food was not good so we probably won't go again.
