I stayed for two nights in this nice older style hotel which has with attractive wood throughout. I enjoyed quite a spacious suite with a wide sideways view of Kubota Castle's moat and (more distantly) part of its restored Omotemon Gate. ||There was a large and comfortable bed with bedside tables. Dressing gowns and PJs were provided. A two-seater lounge with a little side table, as well as a freestanding desk which was a decent size with convenient power sockets. The desk's chair was a good size and the right height (my knees complain if chairs are too low). No problems with the tv, wifi or air conditioning (and there was a humidifier). Reasonable clothes hanging space as well as a drawer (thumbs up), and a safe. The fridge was nice and cold (at some hotels the fridges aren't cold enough) and there was enough space in its door for taller drinks. There was an electric jug and a good stock of teabags and drip coffee bags. There were nice cups, especially the teacups which had cherrywood saucers. ||I had a very good bathroom with lots of bench space, a separate bath and shower, mirrors all around and the toilet not too close to the bath like it is in some places. The bath had water jets and a footrest. I appreciated the quality Provinscia shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It was helpful to have a retractable clothes line over the bath, and a bonus that the big push doors to the bathroom could be set to stay open. I needed to be a bit careful to remember there was a little step down to the shower/bath area. One the first morning I found my cosmetics and teeth cleaning equipment had been cluttered together by the cleaner, with some lying on their sides. ||Reception staff were polite and pleasant. My suitcase which had been forwarded was already in the room when I arrived. Breakfasts were good. The hotel is located directly across from Kubota Castle and within walking distance of other sights. There's 7-Eleven attached to the building and other shops nearby. It's about a 10 minute walk to the station. I'd be happy to stay again.

The hotel has a very good location. Although not immediately next to the JR station, it's a short and easy walk to get to the hotel from Akita Station. When you see the Museum of Art in the photo, you are arriving. Also, the famous Senshū Park is just across from the street. It's a grand hotel with nice rooms. The staff are friendly and professional. It's not far from the bar district. There are many interesting bars over there. After a couple of drinks, you can just walk back to the hotel.

Room is big and spacious. Comes with a table top mirror so study table acted as a makeup desk for me. Enjoyed my quiet stay in Akita. I like their carpark with access to our car 24/7, however there is no lift from the carpark to the hotel hobby.

Feels like a business hotel and not the regular 2/3 star hotel. Room is large and comfortable. TV has YouTube and Chromecast. Location is decent although it takes a small walk from Akita station. No public bath.

This is an old hotel so don’t expect newer amenities or that new clean vibe. It feels dated. The rooms were clean but felt stuffy. They provided humidifiers, which helped, but they were too loud to keep on overnight. The bathroom was small but efficient, though the bath/shower combo was slippery. The staff is very helpful and while they don’t speak much English, with the few words I’ve learned and Google Translate, there were no major problems communicating. Keep in mind that their restaurants close between lunch and dinner, so plan ahead. I missed lunch time and ended up grabbing food from the 7-Eleven conveniently connected to the hotel. The 7-Eleven also has an ATM, which was useful since not all places accept cards, especially outside of Tokyo. One advantage is the location, right next to an art museum and a few shops, so you can find places to eat and shop nearby. It’s also just a 5-minute taxi ride from the train station, making it convenient for quick trips.

Located just a short 10 minute walk from Akita station and not far from the magnificent Senshu Park castle ruins and other attractions. Mr Takahashi and Mr Suzuki-san were very attentive, kind and polite and went out of their way to assist me with every query I made. The room was large and spacious and a luxury to have where most hotel rooms in Japan are generally on the smaller side. Next to the double bed was a T shaped desk/bench office space and an ergonomic computer chair. Under the bench was a little fridge with bottled water, a kettle, an ice bucket and green tea bags. The bathroom was average sized with a shower over the bath tub. A dressing gown and special cozy environment friendly reusable room slippers were also provided - pity they didnt have larger sized slippers to fit my large feet lol :) The icing on the cake was breakfast!! OMG! Served in the Castle Cafe in the foyer, there was everything imaginable, from fresh fruit salad, juices, eggs, bacon, local delicacies like udon, kiritanpo to freshly baked walnut bread, champagne bread and other bread rolls. To top it all you could end (or start) your breakfast with a choice of vanilla or green tea ice cream. Thank you Akita Castle hotel for a memorable stay.
