Feels like a business hotel and not the regular 2/3 star hotel. Room is large and comfortable. TV has YouTube and Chromecast. Location is decent although it takes a small walk from Akita station. No public bath.

This is an old hotel so don’t expect newer amenities or that new clean vibe. It feels dated. The rooms were clean but felt stuffy. They provided humidifiers, which helped, but they were too loud to keep on overnight. The bathroom was small but efficient, though the bath/shower combo was slippery. The staff is very helpful and while they don’t speak much English, with the few words I’ve learned and Google Translate, there were no major problems communicating. Keep in mind that their restaurants close between lunch and dinner, so plan ahead. I missed lunch time and ended up grabbing food from the 7-Eleven conveniently connected to the hotel. The 7-Eleven also has an ATM, which was useful since not all places accept cards, especially outside of Tokyo. One advantage is the location, right next to an art museum and a few shops, so you can find places to eat and shop nearby. It’s also just a 5-minute taxi ride from the train station, making it convenient for quick trips.

Great location just in front of Akita Castle Park and the bus right in front of the hotel.|Service and staff were professional, quick and efficient.|Pleny of restaurants and cafes nearby as well as conveniece stores and shopping districts within walking distance. At the bottom of the hotel there are cafes, convenices stores and shops as well as a bakery.|Carpark is onsite and free as long as you approach the concierge||Not close to train station if you place on taking public transport however there is a bus that stops right in front of the hotel fromt he station.

Located just a short 10 minute walk from Akita station and not far from the magnificent Senshu Park castle ruins and other attractions. Mr Takahashi and Mr Suzuki-san were very attentive, kind and polite and went out of their way to assist me with every query I made. The room was large and spacious and a luxury to have where most hotel rooms in Japan are generally on the smaller side. Next to the double bed was a T shaped desk/bench office space and an ergonomic computer chair. Under the bench was a little fridge with bottled water, a kettle, an ice bucket and green tea bags. The bathroom was average sized with a shower over the bath tub. A dressing gown and special cozy environment friendly reusable room slippers were also provided - pity they didnt have larger sized slippers to fit my large feet lol :) The icing on the cake was breakfast!! OMG! Served in the Castle Cafe in the foyer, there was everything imaginable, from fresh fruit salad, juices, eggs, bacon, local delicacies like udon, kiritanpo to freshly baked walnut bread, champagne bread and other bread rolls. To top it all you could end (or start) your breakfast with a choice of vanilla or green tea ice cream. Thank you Akita Castle hotel for a memorable stay.

We enjoyed the close location of the hotel to the train station, the park, and other local attractions. The rooms were very well kept and the staff immensely helpful in finding local services such as a good onsen. Stayed for five nights; would stay again. I'm not a Japanese speaker but that was not an issue during my stay.

Excellent hotel and a relatively cheap price for the quality you get. Spacious rooms, comfortable and large beds, good bathrooms. Location is very close to many areas in downtown and restaurants. Parking was not free. Breakfast was pricey, but that may have been because I paid at the desk and not when I made my reservation. Staff was very accommodating for English speakers.

I spent two nights at the Akita Castle Hotel in March (2023). It was a short walk from the train station near multiple attractions like the Akita Museum of Art and the castle ruins in Senshu Park. There's a large 7-Eleven by the entrance or a Lawsons around the corner for all your convenience needs. My room was perfect for a solo traveller, with all the comforts I needed.
