The main building magnificent and the setting is beautiful, but reception was not particularly welcoming and the rest of the place is a bit soulless with something of a resort vibe. Bungalow rooms were comfortable but had a smell of drains / stale refrigerator. Dinner was ok but quite basic for the price. Breakfast was decent.

|The Gardens and Grounds were lovely. However, there were virtually no staff - possibly because there were only 2 other guests and consequently we were asked if we would accept a room in the main building rather than what we had booked in a villa. The first room we were given smelt of drains. We were moved to the second floor with no lift which was inconvenient for my wife. The evening meal was very disappointing (processed food) and the last straw was no hot water the next morning. We left a day early and were told that there would be no refund - Although I hadn't asked for one a gesture would have been appreciated.

I stayed here as part of a work trip in late September. The prices were very reasonable, my room was absolutely stunning, and I slept so well. Breakfast opened at 9am but as my colleagues and I had to leave at 8am, they put on an early breakfast at 7:30 especially for us. Emilio and his staff were extremely accommodating and answered every request with a smile. The menu is small but very, very tasty. Also - I loved the swimming pool and jacuzzi!! The scenery was absolutely stunning. I love this hotel and would go back in a heartbeat.

Set in a remote part of the country this ticks all the boxes for a quiet but very enjoyable stay. There is not a lot to do in the locality, but the charm of this hotel is precisely that. The rooms are well appointed, the grounds are lush, the pool is cold and you can lounge easily and relax. It is not crowded or busy. We stayed in one of the tower rooms and enjoyed the period decor and furnishings The food is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly. Would certainly return to this oasis of calm.

Yes the grounds are lovely and the pool area is nice but the rooms are overpriced and the first question we were asked on arrival was had we pre booked parking?! No, we didn’t realise that after paying over €200 for one night we also had to pay for parking!! We ate dinner in the restaurant so texted our orders through in advance. Mine was wrong anyway. Breakfast was good but this was not the 20th anniversary treat I had hoped for.

This Hotel is really excellent and our one regret is that we only had one night there. We could have stayed a lot longer, had we not had to move on with our planned travel. It was so peaceful and tranquil and the rooms are amazing and the decor beautiful throughout the Hotel. The owners are very helpful, professional and welcoming and breakfast was excellent. We had a large lunch outside before we arrived, otherwise we would have sampled what the hotel had on offer for dinner, the menu of which looked good and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and if we return to the area, will stay for at least 3 or 4 nights to totally unwind. There is a swimming pool and a games room.

Stunning inside and out, very comfortable and with super friendly staff. Very good quality food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner! The hotel has retained lots of original features indoors and out - from fresco paintings to brickwork, stonework, and flag floors. There are multiple sitting rooms and drawing rooms including a library, billiards room and art gallery. We had two superior suites. These were excellent: spacious, comfortable and well furnished. It's worth noting there is no lift with all access to rooms via the wide stone staircase. Disabled access may be possible to the garden Room bungalows. The grounds include a pool and hot tub which we didn't use but look super. Would absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful architecture and very peaceful location and a great welcome. Our room was fine, but the bathroom was somewhat overwhelmed by a two berth jacuzzi. Food and service were very good. Very well kept grounds with ample secure parking.
