Gerolimenas is one of the most beautiful Seaside village of Laconia. This small village has a small natural port on a bay and only about 60 habitants but is very welcoming and tourist friendly equipped with a couple seaside hotels, Greek Taverna for drinks and excellent traditional Greek food and fresh seafood. The village is located at the southern tip of Mani peninsula in Peloponnese. We have stayed at Akrotainaritis with our kids twice and we plan on coming back. The hotel is run by an older couple (family owned) and they are just lovely people. No formalities, as soon as you arrive you get your keys and feel at home. The stone built hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the bay with a little pebble beach right opposite for swimming and hotel lounge chairs with umbrellas on site. The stone built rooms, typical Mani construction, are very comfortable. The quadruple rooms have a loft with two individual beds on top and double beds at the bottom with efficient A/C unit. The TV is outdated and has no channels available but with such panoramic setting who would want to stay inside your room. The rooms have their own balconies with frontal or side sea view. The food is made fresh as you order and very tasty which you can enjoy sitting on water front tables with umbrellas on the pavement. You also have more than one choice to eat at other Tavernas next to hotel also waterfront. The entire city center is about 500 meters all on the water which makes this destination very exclusive and definitely off the beaten path. The one inconvenience, I experienced was the quality of the free internet. Was very sporadic and weak, but I assume it must be due to the it's remote location, but If you want a secluded place to relax on the Mediterranean Sea that doesn't cost a fortune, this is the place for you. I feel that a lot of the Greek Islands are over rated and extremely expensive. This place is rugged with a rocky landscape of wild beauty. Swimming in these waters is an adventure, the water is so clear you will be amazed at all the sea creatures around you. Worth a couple days if you are in the Peloponnese.
