Great place with a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed our time there. Good coffees and hot chocolates too. I’ve forgotten the managers name (Mog-something)- a fabulous Polish man and he was hilarious, hospitable and had the best energy. Highly recommend

I stayed there for 10 days for business purposes. This is a great value if you come to Akureyri. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Great breakfast. Rooms are agreeably simple. Warm atmosphere overall, especially on the weekends. Some tiny downsides: -wifi can be slow at times on the higher floors. -showers are collective, under the main floor. Regardless: would 100% recommend!

Ate and drank here. Didn’t stay. Returned numerous times and the cod and chips and reindeer burger were brilliant. The cod was incredible. Great value. Good vibe.

Was only in for something to eat and we had a fabulous meal (Brunch} the young staff were very upbeat and jovial. There was a TV game on the TV but not my team so I cheekily asked if they could switch the match over and they obliged right away. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the surroundings comfortable.

Whenever you are in Akureyri stop in for the friendliest and most fun experience with Melchior! Our tour arrived to town on New Year’s Eve with no dinner reservations to be found. Melchior had the best advice in town, set us up with a meal from Taste’s and a warm table to eat dinner! Best New Year’s Eve in forever! Take care of those who care for you!

The burgers in the restaurant are under-cooked. They arrive nearly instantly, but they're very red inside. We left parts of ours. This is irresponsible. Cook burgers properly please.

Restaurant only: I’m gonna become a regular here. It’s an unpretentious and warm place with great food. I’m tired of “fake fancy” food so I’m thrilled to find this gem. Had the chicken Caesar salad and the salmon and both were great. Didn’t read the fineprint (what’s in each dish) and realized I ordered way too much. What does this mean for you - there are healthy portion sizes. :)

Akureyri Backpackers is always a reliable spot for good food and great service (I cannot comment on the accommodation as I have never stayed here). I was actually a little hesitant about ordering food here. I guess the word "backpackers" put me off, and I wrongly assumed the food would be very basic. But it's actually quite tasty! We tried the chicken burger as well as the chicken caesar salad, and both were a great, fairly priced choice. Staff have always been helpful and pleasant, too. Backpackers is particularly useful over the New Year period, not least because of how many other places close in Akureyri. They are often either the only spot, or a spot among only a tiny number of possible choices. But other than that, year around this place is a great spot whether you're looking for food or simply a drink.
