Great Mediterranean (Egyptian) restaurant in old town Aarau, famous for their falafel balls. Particularly the sampler platter for 2 is great, either as a meat or vegetarian option. To-go or eat-in. Reservations recommended as there only a few tables. Fast ans friendly service.

The food was good overall, the bread could be improved, it was very chewy & hard. I think it is crazy they charge a pot of tea, 16 CHF, the mount & quality of mint in the tea could be only 5 CHF worth at best. They also charged tax about 7 CHF, which I have never seen in Switzerland.

Best falafel i've ever had! Wasn't dry as most of the others and the added selfmade sauces made the whole plate utterly delicious 😍 the meat plates are good aswell!

Best falafel in Switzerland.. it’s true. Coming here since years. Trying falafel everywhere, but still the best is here.

Very disappointing, 32 sfr for 3 micro pieces of meet and just a little bit of hummus and the wrap was hard not fresh, the mind tea is full of sugar I ASK if he accepts cards, he say yes, but at the end they don't , not trust worthy people

Excellent falafal and hummus. Expensive. A pot of mint tea costs 16 CHFs? For hot water and some mint leaves? They only accept cash. The prices on their website are not updated.. the actual prices are now much higher. All in all expect to pay 40-45 CHFs per person including drinks. Too expensive for more than the very occasional visit. Very small restaurant.

Cash-only joint with a small menu. Otherwise, the food is super-tasty! Just make sure to bring cash (yeah, in 2021...)

Yelp
Again... one of those 4.5 star reviews that I can't, in good conscience, give only a 4 but it's not quite perfect either. In any case, we were in Aarau for a design show and having never really explored the city before, we were wandering around, hungry, and ended up in the Altstatt where we happened to round a corner and saw the sign for Al Ahram. Aha! Sadly, it's really tiny inside and it was completely full. So, we ordered and then sat outside and watched the people go by. Our decision to split one of their falafel platters turned out to be have been a good choice. One each would have been way too much food. Their falafel is quite obviously homemade and was some of the best that I've ever had. The Platter comes with various sauces, etc., all of which was scraped clean by the time we finished. The reason for that is because it was really good and we didn't want to waste any. If they had any dessert, ala middle-eastern fair, I missed it. Aside from that, I can't complain about anything and don't want to. We'll definitely be back!
