Al Ayjah Plaza Hotel in Sur – ideal for one night The Al Ayjah Plaza Hotel is perfectly located along the road. You’re close to the sea and to many nice parts of the town. The rooms are simple but spacious, which I appreciated. There’s a restaurant right next to the hotel — very tasty and authentic. Breakfast is simple but absolutely fine. Ideal for one night, but probably not the place for a longer stay.

PUBLIC WARNING: Avoid this hotel. This place felt like a money trap. They will nickel-and-dime you and demand extra payments for minor things. It’s not hospitality — it’s extortion-like behavior. Even worse: the food was dangerous. We were served beef and chicken biryani with meat that was black, rubbery, and seemed rotten, and rice that felt old and hard. It was so bad we couldn’t eat it. When we questioned it, the chef argued and kept insisting it was fresh. I rarely leave reviews like this, but people deserve to know: don’t risk getting scammed and sick.

Lovely little hotel with lots of character. We paid the equivalent of £30 per night including breakfast and we couldn’t complain. True, it’s rather dated and could do with updating but for the price we paid we were very pleased. The rooms are large and the sea view is beautiful. Recommend making the short climb up to the watchtower behind the hotel at sunset for a perfect view over Sur.

Very decent stay in Sur. Hotel is quite old with old furniture but well maintained and clean. The receptionist is nice and friendly. Get the room with the sea view to have a beautiful sunset

Great local hotel to stay at in Sur that actually has some character to it. Convenient access to pretty much anywhere in Sur. The room was spotless and the ac was ice cold which was much appreciated with the extremely hot and humid weather. The staff were super helpful and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Breakfast was surprisingly good with many options. We went during low season so may have had a more personal experience, but definitely happy with my choice in this hotel.

Rude and unprofessional staff First of all, they didnt provide towels, when we checked out , they stopped us and demanded to check our luggage. Later the house keeping staff confirmed no towel kept in the room. It was insulting and hurting. Very bad experience.

- Staff lovely - Clean room - Location - Hotel is older, so the rooms are somewhat outdated, and I found the pillows firm. However, the rooms are clean and pretty spacious. - Internet was very weak if it even worked at all. Could be the location of our room. - Breakfast. We got a call at 9am saying it was being served till 10am. I didn't appreciate the call, but my husband liked it. I think the hotel caters to groups and they probably are ready for breakfast at 6:30am. By the time we got there, the food left was just the remaining. Nothing fresh. If you like to eat first thing in the morning, there would be enough to fill your stomach. Overall, it was a decent hotel, and I would stay there again. The location was perfect for getting into the city and continuing on with your travels!
