Google
Loved it! What a great place, we got a history lesson on the diff cut of meats and thus ordered the most delicious meats but the pizzas, sausage and especially the lasagna were also a hit. When in Puerto Morelos this will be a definite stop. Good variety of wines too.

Google
This was the best dinner we had in Puerto Morelos. Intimate sidewalk dining. Great service, food and drinks. My wife and I had two empanadas, each ordered a 400g steak, shared a bottle of wine, and paid $2000 pesos (tip not included).Well worth it for the quality of food and service

Google
I had a nice dinner here. I ordered one empanada and one strip steak. It was cooked properly and not salty. It comes with a nice salad and of course the chimichurri sauce. As a foreign tourist, I was concerned about how the raw leaves for the sauce and salad were prepared. The staff took the time to explain how it was washed and sanitized. I appreciate that. I sat outside which was nice.

Google
This is such a cute little place! They’ve got lots of options for food. We ended up trying the empanada for an appetizer & pizzas for our entree’s and everything was spectacular. I also had a Sangria which was quite tasty! The only complaint we had is that the service was a bit slow, but that may just be due to our whole group (4 people) ordering pizzas. The pizzas are wood fired, so that may explain the delay in receiving our food! Our appetizers and drinks came out quickly and our server was very attentive while we waited for our pizzas!

Google
Easily one of the best restaurants you’ll visit in Mexico. It’s not Mexican food, but as far as Latino food goes, Asado from Uruguay complimented with the Perfect Chimichurri and take your pick of Wine, it just doesn’t get any better. Atmosphere is perfect and staff are all educated and very kind! Went for my Birthday making it that much more special! Gracias a todos!

Google
Cool spot. Smells amazing. Then empanadas were great, nice fresh and hot. . For the mains we had pizza and lasagna. Definitely good but it could have been hotter as it all was just Luke warm. Service was good as well.

Google
This restaurant was delicious! Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to our group of 5. The food was so good and we really enjoyed ourselves! 💜 We will definitely eat here again when we come back! 😃 Pics are of short ribs, lasagna and flaming apple crepe! Delicious!

Google
omg!! Another hit. My guy Arturo showed me this place and I am sooooooooooo impressed! Wait staff was amazing! Empanadas for real! Met the owner and they let us sit there, didn't rush us to leave, and we're so freaking friendly. Such a bad ass concept. Arturo tells me the steaks are the best here.Muchas gracias you guys for showing me a side of Mexico many people can only dream of!!

Yelp
The place is excellent to eat meat in Puerto Morelos. Al Chimichurri is well located just a block from the main park in downtown Puerto Morelos. They have the best service ever, serving nice meat filets with a salad, pizzas, empanadas, salads and more. You need to experience this restaurant in Puerto Morelos, for its food, drinks and most of all, the service.

Yelp
PROS: 1. AMAZING TASTE! All of our dishes tasted fresh and unique. 2. Great Service and friendly- not the typical snails pace, but they also wont rush you. 3. Lots of seating and the Garden Area is adorable. 4. Not insanely priced 5. Good variety of food for everyone! CONS: 1. Heard the wait can be long so I think you need to come early or make a reservation (we came at 5 ish on Friday night and there were plenty of tables but it was starting to pick up) 2. Smells are misleading- we really thought this was going to be a lot of smoked meats due to the smells... there are no smoked meats, just regular steaks. 3. Portions are awkward.... the medium pizza was HUGE, the empanada was small, my salad was HUGE, and the steak dinners were fairly small (to American standards) 4. There was ALOT of fat on the steak which made the meal even smaller. TIPS: 1. Come early/make a reservation 2. Order the "Meat Platter" or sharable meat meal if you have 3 or more people wanting steak 3. If you want your meat on the done side, order medium well or above... the medium was still bloody 4. If you order pizza this is definitely a shareable item if you get a medium or larger. We had 4 people and we easily could have each had 4-5 pieces as an appetizer. It is worth coming to for sure if you like steak and want fresh and new flavors. I would not come here if you're looking for smoked meats. I would also sit in the garden if possible. The only reason we gave it a 4 is because of the fat on the steak making the portion fairly small for a grown man :)

Yelp
Never had a bad meal there. The empanadas are the best in town. Yes I have tried the rest. Delicious salads and the meat is fabulous. The stuffed chicken is wonderful.

Yelp
Great steaks! I ate there 2 out of 3 nights I was in PM. Also, Mojito we're on point.

Alan S.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We were able to sit on the patio and it was very nice, even though it rained! Highly recommend.

Chrissy B.

Yelp
Wonderful meal in PM. Loved the outside seating. Delicious steaks and fair prices. Service was great ! And of course the chimichurri sauce !!!!!

Yelp
I waited an hour and a half for an undercooked steak that was super tough and cost $25. On the bright side, the waitress was nice about the wait, and the salad dressing was good, but not good enough for 2 stars. I ordered the piraña steak, 400gr, medium, and it was rare and bloody except for a quarter inch around, but it was a 4 inch cut. Gross.

Yelp
We have been here a few times and it's always good. We were told to get the skirt steak which I have a couple times and it's great. My dove ordered a filet minion and it was amazing. My daughter had a pizza which was good, my wife had the lasagna and my daughter had ravioli. All was good. Service was good too.

Claudia S.

Yelp
I am from Uruguay so I may be biased in my review! I've also become a vegetarian so the spinach canelones were my go to. The empanadas and salads are fresh and tasty. My meat eating friends love all things meat at this place!

David T.

Yelp
By far one of my favorite places to eat at in Puerto Morelos. Had something for everyone including my kids. The pizzas were enjoyed by all. Mediums are huge by the way. I saw other reviews stating this and they weren't lying. The empanadas are amazing and i highly recommend. We came here on two separate occasions. One time i had the skirt steak the second time the picanha. I had no complained about either of the steaks. Ask your waiter for some salt and pepper and they will gladly bring you extra so you can add more if you'd like. The staff wont rush you out. So if your sitting in your seats for a while without receiving your bill, now you know why. For seating you have outdoor on the street side, a garden area and an indoor area which are all nice but i liked the garden the most. The staff are all really nice and helpful.

Yelp
This restaurant was packed so we knew it was going to be good! We tried a variety of empanadas and they were all delicious! Highly recommend. Great service!
google avatar

Yelp
Ended up here by default. But wow! Absolutely the best! Service was excellent! Food was fantastic!!! Ambiance in the garden was perfect. Will be a top choice for future visits!!

Yelp
This place was wonderful! The service was very good and the food was even better. We took some recommendations from our server and ordered a variety of items from the menu. Everything was even better than expected. We sat in the courtyard and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The meat, ah yes, the meat, this place is a carnivore's dream. The empanadas were good but the meat is what you won't regret!
google avatar

Yelp
We are bug fans of Puerto Morelos!! Al chimichurri was excellent. Cute outdoor patio with lights made for a nice romantic dinner. The empanadas were excellent!! Food was a little pricey for a small town Mexico meal. Lots of delicious pasta dishes, very authentic Uruguaian food!
google avatar

Carlos R.

Yelp
We try to hit this place every year when we're in Mexico. It's a Uruguayan steak house but with an asterisk. I would not recommend the steak here. I've had two different cuts on separate trips and both were tough. They were almost to the point of inedible. My buddy's steaks were the same. Having said that, I would wholeheartedly recommend it for the empanadas! They are delicious! They have quite a variety also. You could come and eat only empanadas for a full meal. Each one is pretty large. So go here, but skip the steak, ok?

Gary E.

Yelp
Our experience was so so. Small piece of steak with gristle and fat. The chimichurri sauce was obviously from the day before. And the bottle of Merlot was way overpriced. The fries were nice and crisp. But at $75 for two steaks and a bottle of wine this was way overpriced for such an ordinary meal.

Yelp
My husband ate here about a year ago and said the food (especially the steak) was a amazing, last night must have been an off night because it flat out sucked. The service was terrible. At first we weren't not greeted for a table. We have to wander around until we found a server to ask for a table. That took forever at 9 pm on a Friday. Then once sat we waited to order and it took 45 min for our appetizer to come out. One empanada. One. We waited again for our dinner and had to ask where it was. My husbands steak was "okay" and my cannelloni was doughy and so full of spinach I should've just asked for a plate of spinach for my meal. Overall we will not be returning and I do not recommend this restaurant. I have it one star for the authentic atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Buh-Bam! Wandering, as we do around new towns, seeking some adventure, bickering over menus, we struck gold. 3 kids, hungry wife, me, not caring for anything but the regular thing we happened in. So.Good. Kids downed the pasta, we had steaks. Kids loved ravioli, daughter 2 made a meal of two empanadas and her eyes rolled back. We could have made a whole starter platter of them. Awesome. Then dessert. Winner? Daughter 2 with the dessert del dia- a chocolate cake. Perfect. I had the flaming apple crepe with ice cream. And it was fun and the right add. Make this the first stop in Port Morales.

Stacey M.

Yelp
Meh... won't go back here. Service was below average. Got my steak before my drink. The sirloin had a lot of fatty pieces and was served in top of a sad looking salad.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is simply fantastic! In the season you might need a reservation or failing that, go early. Whatever you have, it is going to be good, but be sure to have an empanada to start with with a little of their signature chimichurri sauce. Their filet mignon in gravy is simply a poem. So rich! I usually have a salad with steak on top (any salad can be ordered this way) Pair it with a bottle of Norton Mablec and you are on your way to a memorable meal.
google avatar

Yelp
First, eat in the side courtyard!!! We barely saw it and asked so we got a table there. So freaking adorable. Then the food....mmmmmm. We had a slew of empanadas that were all tasty esp with the awesome chimichurri. Great drinks, great service. My fav empanada was the elote but like I said, all were sooooo good. Will def go back.
google avatar

Bob D.

Yelp
Very mixed opinion. This restaurant is not relaxing. They clean the table, sit you down, push the food at you and out you go. Service is perfunctory in terms of getting your order and delivering food. Don't expect anyone to offer your drink a refresh unless you flag someone down. That said, it is the only good steak in town (IMHO). And the steak is where it begins and ends. Food review: All in a 1 to 5 (5 being good) Empanada with mushrooms - 2 (raw mushrooms/undercooked/commercial grade mozzarella) Salad caprese - 3 (commercial hothouse tomatoes and factory mozzarella) Steak (vacío) - 4.5 (delivered as ordered Medium, nicely crusted outside) Service - 3 Ambience - 3

Yelp
All the reviews sum it! The flank steak mr is one of the very best i have had anywhere period; not BA, not NY, not Houston (Okc, Dallas, west Tx) Anywhere. For most people 400 grams can be quite intimidating. My steake was nicely cooked tender throughout with very little fat or cartilage. The empanadas both compressa and spinach we're not greasy but quite flaky and tasty. We'll go again many times. The tannat vino from Uruguay was a fantastic accompaniment. Go early with reservations and stay for the Mayan entertainment about 7:30. One of the best restaurants for beef and price on Riviera Maya. We also found the wait staff friendly but hurried. The outside seating can be dynamic and changes at patrons will so service of courses is a seek and find process for waiters. Again, patience is most often rewarded.

Jill C.

Yelp
This is a great place to go!! Do not leave until you had tried the empanadas, we go to this place alot, we drive 12 miles just to have one. I have not had a bad meal there yet, save room for dinner, you may not have room.
google avatar

Mar Y Cielo R.

Yelp
This is one of the best places, definitely a MUST of the riviera maya. You'll see that's not a luxury place, in fact it is just an Uruguayan grill on the street but oh my gosh they make the best pattys I've tried in my whole life. My personal recomendation is to order one of corncob that have a lot of cheese yumi, and a capresse. Put on some habanero sauce and of course their famous chimichurri, prepare your palate because you'll taste paradise. The prices are incredible comparing the quality of the food. If you wanna eat delicious for a very low price. This is the best place.

Yelp
That atmosphere was amazing sitting outside with mariachi band playing. The bread they brought out was so soft and amazing. I had the flank steak it was so tender and great taste. My husband had the filet it was good to but the large portion is enough to share.

Yelp
We ate here in 2013 and loved the pizza and empanadas. We returned last night to fill our daughters pizza fix. Mi Esposa enjoyed spinach and beef empanadas and a salad. I was in the mood for a steak, I was not disappointed with a New York Strip steak. The meal was finished off with the teens sharing a Nutella crepe and the adults enjoying the dessert special, a delicious chocolate moose. Great Meal! Great Value! Delicioso!

James K.

Yelp
I had the short ribs. They were tough and chewy with a relatively small portion (especially for the price). The salad was good. The fries were mediocre. Resort prices. There are a LOT better places to eat in PM.
google avatar

Yelp
Was very happy to come across this place on a recent trip to Puerto Morelos. The bread and special sauces they give you at the beginning of your meal are amazing! We got a medium sized prosciutto pizza and it was more than enough for two people! We ordered that and a variety of empanadas. Food was amazing, except a little saltier than my taste. Only reason for the 4 stars.

Man M.

Yelp
Make reservations because it gets busy. Great Very sweet waitress, Jessica. Great service. Bread Chimichuri sauce Habanero sauce Margherita Pizza Empenada queso Good Rib eye would have been great with a little more salt. Sweetbreads Margarita OK Nutella crape Dulce de Leche crape

Season M.

Yelp
Delicious steak! My husband raved about his steak. I enjoyed my chicken with vegetables and empanada. Nice garden setting with good service.

Yelp
Great little steak restaurant, very near the main plaza. Great variety of tender and tasty cuts.

Yelp
We heard great things about this place from the locals so we decided to try it. It was amazing - Best empanadas we had + beat steak we have ever had + some of the best ravioli we have had. Then we got yummy dessert. We plan on coming back for pizza before we fly home.

Yelp
The best dinner we had in Puerto Morelos. Intimate, candle lit sidewalk dining. Great service, food and drinks. The two of us had cocktails, aplit a salad, pizza and a chicken dish and the bill was under 400 pesos.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
A great place! The empanadas were a great start, and the churrasco was most excellent. One of our favorite spots here!
google avatar

Ellen F.

Yelp
We had read previous reviews about the slow service, so we were prepared. But they totally proved those reviews wrong!! Not only was the service fast and with a smile, but the food was to die for! The steak, the vegetables, the caprese... All done to perfection! Even the dog begging at our table was sweet and polite. We will definitely go back!!
google avatar

Martin L.

Yelp
A little hole in the wall with great food. I recommend the empanadas and their cuts of beef. Very affordable and huge portions.

Anna B.

Yelp
So good! Try the empanadas. Great bread and friendly. Wait staff was very nice as was the food and drink. Also great authentic-feeling restaurant. We will be returning for more!

Yelp
I heard about how yummy their spaghetti was and decided to check out this place out. We were greeted by a young women in her pj's and seated outside (so I can smoke). The pasta was soft, the sauce was thick, flavorful and delicious. The food is great but the service is horrible. They're soooo slooooow, like turtles are waiting the tables. We waited 30 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. Another 30 minutes to get our drinks, 30 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our order. Everyone has gotten their food except for me, the waitress told me that my food will be right out, I waited about 20 minutes, finally when I got my food I had a few bites and ask her to box it, that took another 30 minutes. If you're looking for a place to hangout, chit chat and catch up with your friends this is the spot because the service is soooo slooooow you can spend more time together and not feel like the waiter is in a hurry to give up your table to another customer. If you're super hungry, go somewhere else.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Go for the food quality - ignore the service. Al Chimichurri offers some of the best Argentine/Ururguian food I've ever eaten, get the caprese empanada and the flank steak (which is easily shared at 400 grams) and papas provincial and enjoy. I'm not a fan of the Uruguian chimichurri but that doesn't change my opinion of this place. Amazing food quality and price, would love to have one of these in NYC.

Andee Z.

Yelp
Super disappointing meal. We arrived and were told it would be a 20 min wait...an hour and a half later we asked them to at least bring some pizza out for the tired and hungry kiddos, which they did, and it was delicious. Then we took the kids home and came back just in time to be seated. After we ordered drinks and food, we waited and waited and waited. We had to get water from the table next to us because no one ever asked us if we wanted more drinks. Our food started to arrive, not all together, which isn't uncommon in Mexico, but one meal came and as it was being eaten it became clear that it was raw chicken..then another meal came as we were nearing our 4th hour so we just asked for it to go. Its a sweet spot with incredibly friendly staff but they just can't support the number of tables they have. Their staff and kitchen just can't handle the load especially when they allow several large tables at a time. Hopefully they figure out that less seating and better timing is better than too many people being undeserved.

Yelp
The best food in town. We had the best empanadas during our 10 day stay. The ravioli and the crepe was to die for! :) Wish we could have come here earlier and had every meal here.

R M.

Yelp
Our family of 9 had the best steaks here during our vacation. We had about 3 kilos (they also sell by the kilo) of all kinds of steak - Ribeye, Flank Steak, New York for dinner. Will definitely come back to Puerto Morelos for the steaks here.

Adrian T.

Yelp
Was looking for another place but it was closed so I found this place open. Glad I did, everything that we had was great! Spaghetti , pollo enrollado and al chimichurri. I recommend it if your in the neighborhood. Definitely coming back.

Thomas B.

Yelp
Two couples ate on a Sunday evening. The place was packed and we had about a 15 minute wait for a table but it was well worth the wait. We had a variety of empanadas and an order of shrimp ceviche to start. The ceviche order was ample for four people and delicious. We had two steaks, mine was the flank steak, and a small (but big enough for two hungry men) pizza to share. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Desert was a crepe with caramel sauce. We had two rounds of very good margaritas. The total, including tip was about $80 US. The added attraction to the meal was the entertainment. A quartet of Mayan musicians in full Mayan costume were performing in the street in front of the restaurant to start. They were as good or better than many of the Mayan shows seen in the hotels. They were followed by several street musicians who took requests from the crowd. We will be back.

David B.

Yelp
This place rocks! It's authentic South American meat & grilling at its best. The Mojitos are good and the Margharita pizza is yummy! Very casual scene.

Bill R.

Yelp
Most excellent beef. Ana is super nice. This is a nice, friendly place to eat. Did I say the food is great
