"A convivial spot with almost 1,000 bottles to choose from, offering local wine varieties like Valcalepio."

Very classy wine bar. This is the second premises to the main restaurant / wine bar. Staff were very helpful and kind. Fantastic wine list and we picked our bottle from the shelf. We ordered Parma ham platters, bread and oil, cheese boards, olives etc. I love this place and will definitely return. Met the owner who was lovely. All staff attentive and pleasant. This is what Italy is all about. We were never rushed and left to relax as long as we liked. Don’t change guys 🙏🏼👍🏻❤️

A very classy wine bar in Bergamo altra, which is just down from the main piazza and opposite its main restaurant of the same name. The decor is trendy and the service was first class. I tried the local white wines, which were excellent. I didn't eat here, so I can not comment or rate their food. I was, however, given olives and salted almonds free gratis.

Went to Donizetti at the end of January. The food was spectacular, the local wine pairing was amazing and their desserts oh, but oh so good! We also enjoyed our server who was very nice, on top of things and knowledgeable. Ordered the Casoncelli, the Polenta e formai e speck, and the Spedo di Manzo. Everyone loved their meal!

Nestled within the charming warren of the Città Alta, it's a place where the aperitivo hour feels less like a prelude to dinner and more like a main event orchestrated by a particularly enthusiastic maestro. They don't just offer snacks; they present a veritable stage production of nibbles. Think tiny, artfully arranged plates of local cheeses that sing of the Lombardy pastures, cured meats that whisper of ancient traditions, and olives that pop with the briny zest of the Mediterranean. The drinks, of course, flow with an Italianate elegance, each glass a carefully chosen partner to the culinary symphony unfolding before you. It's a place where you can happily lose track of time, surrendering to the gentle hum of conversation and the sheer, unadulterated joy of good food and drink. They have clearly worked out that the combination of location, and high quality produce, is a winning one.

The polenta and the Pasta of the day were great! Good Aperol Spritz drink as well. Great service

The waitress was very rude and impolite. I do not recommend visiting this place to avoid ruining your mood. We came in and waited for someone to assist us, after which the waitress came and, without offering us a menu, told us to look at it on the wall. We waited 5–7 minutes to get a table, but no one approached us. Then we decided to approach on our own, to which the waitress responded very rudely, telling us to wait and join the queue, even though we were already first. Our mood was spoiled by the impoliteness and rudeness of this person.

This used to be a place where you could get an economical meal - a plate of cheeses or a plate of hams with a glass of wine. Now every plate is at least €22. We had tiny bowls of pasta and a glass each of house wine. €66! Big rip off

We sat outside for an aperitif but then decided on a light dinner based on our interaction with the staff. Food and drinks were good and we enjoyed the surroundings. Prices are a bit steep for the area including a 7€ per person Coperto which is very high!

Yelp
Amazing food!! I ordered the artichoke dish and one of the pasta specials and they were both absolutely delicious. Wine was great too. Very cute place with great service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Donizetti is a delicatessen which has evolved into a wine bar and bistro. The transformation has been swift and remarkable. And it deserves every bit of its success! For several years Donizetti was a little corner shop selling traditional meats, cheeses, biscuits and wines. As its wine stocks grew, so did its clientele. A next door premises was colonised so that clients could eat a snack and drink a glass on the hoof. A few small tables were added for those who wished to linger longer. Then they went for broke. Alongside the shop is a covered arcade supported by ancient columns, once used as an outdoor market. Donizetti was allowed to set out tables, chairs and a food counter. Suddenly, covers had increased tenfold. And do you know what? It is packed out day and night. Massimo Locatelli's success story is founded on superb products at highly competitive prices. His range of 700 wines is remarkable for a small shop in a pedestrianised street. His bistro staff are young, energetic and helpful. They extended the opening hours for our party, when a couple of stragglers turned up late. Among faultless food, the cheeses stood out for their variety and flavour. Following our visit, I discovered that Donizetti has a web site where you can shop online. I wonder if those cheeses will travel....?

Yelp
Friendly staff and simple but excellent food. We had an amazing starter of Italian and Spanish prosciutti, with polenta and chicken for our main, all accompanied by a nice bottle of a local specialty wine. With the wine, I think we were around $40 per person. Our waiter was very friendly and very helpful. Atmosphere was cozy and intimate but still casual. We didn't have reservations but were seated right away - but we were there in mid-December, so you'll likely need reservations when there are more visitors in town.

Yelp
Really nice place, with great wines and kind service. Book a table under the small arches and taste local cheeses and ham. We had a really great time.
