What a wonderful dining experience! Such a beautiful change from city restaurants and such an enjoyable night. Book a table outside in the garden and reserve their signature Veal Milanese Cutlet in advance. Absolutely delicious, tender meat and super crispy breading, and very generous in size! Lovely atmosphere, great service, and such a unique location. Must do when in Milan.

Absolutely loved our dining experience here! The service was exceptional from start to finish — the staff were warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was equally impressive: delicious, full of flavor, and served in very generous portions. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. It’s rare to find a place that combines outstanding hospitality with such high-quality cuisine. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Absolutely adorable restaurant which I would love to visit again if I go to Milan. It has the nice rustic romantic and cozy vibes and with so many cute details. The food was good too, recommend the eggplant dish! 😋

Al Garghet – A Hidden Gem Near Milan (Make Sure to Book!) We recently visited Al Garghet, just outside Milan, and what an experience it was! A place that truly feels like you're visiting your grandmother’s house—if your grandmother happened to be a world-class Italian cook. First off, make a reservation! The place is huge, yet fully packed, a true testament to how loved it is. We hadn’t booked in advance, but the kind lady who greeted us went out of her way to find us a table for three. Her warm hospitality really set the tone for the afternoon. The service was excellent, and the food… absolutely incredible. It's almost unfair to compare it to a home-cooked meal—unless your nonna can whip up a perfect Pavlova, a creamy Tiramisù, or a massive Cotoletta alla Milanese that literally spills off the edges of a very large plate. Speaking of the Cotoletta, even if you come starving, it’s a serious challenge to finish it. Thankfully, they’re so thoughtful—they pack up whatever’s left for you to take home. We also had Vitello Tonnato, among other dishes, and everything was bursting with flavor. You’d expect Italian food to be good, of course, but this was on a whole different level—ten times better and completely authentic. No doubt about it: I’ll be back. There are still so many dishes on the menu I want to try. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a truly special Italian dining experience just outside the city.

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Milan, Al Garghet offers a cozy, rustic setting that feels like a countryside escape. The warm, candlelit atmosphere is matched by exceptional service — attentive, kind, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. The menu is a true tribute to traditional Milanese cuisine, from the iconic cotoletta alla milanese to rich, comforting risottos. Every dish is prepared with care, using high-quality ingredients and staying true to classic recipes. If you’re seeking an authentic and heartwarming Milanese dining experience, Al Garghet is a must.

The atmosphere is warm and rustic, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family. The menu features classic Lombard dishes, well-prepared and generous in portions. The quality is consistent, though a few plates could benefit from a touch more refinement. Service is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience. A solid choice for those who appreciate traditional Milanese cuisine in a cozy setting

Absolutely wonderful experience at Al Garghet! I started with a delicious appetizer of crispy fried gnocco served with high-quality prosciutto crudo. For the main course, I had their famous Milanese-style cutlet – make sure to pre-order it when booking your table, it’s a must-try! The service was outstanding – attentive and friendly – and the setting was truly charming, with a unique atmosphere that made the evening special. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We went there with my husband for a birthday dinner and it was such an experience! I am a bugger fun of gnocchi, I ate the ones with pumpkin, and it was an absolute masterpiece! I also loved the sweet sparkling red wine, which is my new discovery! When we informed the stuff about our celebration, we got the cake with the candle, which was a very nice touch :) Also the atmosphere is very private and cosy, even though the place is big. Just remember that you need to make a reservation before going there.

Yelp
Perfect getaway from the city center of Milan. Easily reachable by taxi/uber. The place is very cozy, but also super big at the same time (lots of tables). The food is local and comforting, highly recommend!

Yelp
Not easy to reach Al Garghet: in fact, it is in Milan, but at it's limits, in the first fields and agricultural environment of the Lombardy countryside. Beside this, cars GPS normally suggests crazy ways to reach it, so Google Maps is much better! Several typical and different old fashion dining rooms, full of nice paintings and accessories, also with a piano, played during dinner. Great service and typical traditional Milan food: risotto, cotoletta, ossobuco, brasato, polenta and many, many others. Large wine list, with many excellent regional ones: Inferno, Sassella, Sfursat.... Very attractive prices. Even if is large, reservation is a must.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 10 to celebrate our study abroad semester in Milan. Hands down the best meal I had while abroad. By the end of the meals we were full from food, tipsy from wine, and happy from 2.5 hours of reflecting and laughing about the semester. A few things stood out about Al Garghet. It's situated in the middle of fields on a single lane back road south of Milan. It looks like it was a country home in another life--now the various dining rooms each have a distinct theme and feel. Our table was in an enclosed back sun room that allowed us to soak in the dwindling light at dusk. Our antipasti was a round of plates of mixed salami and prosciutto, fried mozzarella, and breaded and fried vegetables. The fried vegetables delicious and a great way to start the meal. For my entree I chose the braised beef with polenta. I had some meal envy over friends' Nephenta pasta, which had a tomato, bacon, pepper, and cream sauce and crispy cheese garnish. Al Garghet is especially known for its cotoletta (fried veal breaded cutlet). It's huge, so definitely split between two or three people if you're getting antipasti and primi piatti. This restaurant is rustic and gives you great value for great food. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. It's a great lace for celebrating, dating, or anything really. The waitstaff is friendly, patient, and will take the time to help you choose the right dish and win. Five stars for Al Garghet.

Yelp
One of the beat place in Milan, original Milan tupé of food. Greatest in spring and su mer. When the garden is open. Good wine list.
