Al-Haramain International Food

Although the store offers everything I want for making a variety of different dishes, the unfriendliness and cold attitude has made me decide never to go back again-i’m a friendly and outgoing person. I always say hello how are you. I’m there spending my money supporting your business. If this is a cultural, gender thing, (even the women aren’t friendly.) then you are making it clear who you don’t want there- someone tried to tell me that this is how they are and I don’t believe that because I have Lebanese friends who are friendly and outgoing- i’ve been a handful of times now and it’s the same each time- And I’ve just decided I’m not going to give my money to a business that doesn’t seem to want my business.-there is a little place right by my house and they’re always friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, they are a smaller store and don’t carry a wide variety of items- but I’ll take friendly service and that over what this place offers

Love this grocery store. It’s a hidden gem. Today I bought fresh hummus, garlic whip, eggs, homemade pita bread and olives. The eggs were a good price. I buy free range. Often the pita breads are still warm from baking.

First time visiting, and I loved the specials they were running on some produce and some non-perishable food items, great prices! They also have an area in back where you can buy hot cooked foods! They were sold out of most of it when I got there, but there must have been close to a dozen trays with the remains of different sauces and tasty looking crumbs, so it's clearly very popular. Probably have more choices around lunch time.

I was going to buy chicken from this place and I checked the expiration date and it expires in 2 days. I also bought a soda and guess what I found? Literal dirt inside the bottle. I found dirt inside the bottle and no one would ever drink it so I threw it away. They sell expired foods or almost expired foods and their foods are never clean. Don’t come here.

This store is dishonest, unsanitary, and blatantly ignores basic laws and standards. They open packages, handle items, and repackage them for sale — I bought a “sealed” 50-pack of cups and half were missing. That’s theft. They’re selling items that clearly don’t belong in retail, including branded airline cups (southwest) that stolen, and they have pallet rubber slippers sitting in the bakery aisle. Filthy, unethical, and completely mismanaged. An absolute embarrassment to Farmington Hills. Avoid at all costs.

They put items on sale that are unsafe for consumption. Some of their sales are just regular prices with a much higher price crossed out to make it look like the item was priced like that previously and I find this dishonest. They have the most poorly kept bathroom I have ever seen, smell and appearance wise. Their baked goods are below average.

This store is an absolute scam. They sell non-halal frozen foods while the name of the store suggests otherwise. It’s completely misleading and feels deliberate. On top of that, the food is rotten and unsafe. After eating what I bought from them, I ended up with severe food poisoning — nonstop diarrhea and vomiting. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s dishonest, unsafe, and downright trash.

I'm so happy with this grocery store! The prices are good, and they have a great selection of Middle Eastern and Asian stuff. Since my husband's from India, it's awesome to have a local store that cares about its customers, products, and service.

This is a fairly large, clean and well organized grocery store that sells different variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks, dried nuts, spices, oils, and meat cuts, frozen goods, soaps. (They also have gerber baby food, pastas, pringles, cereals, spicy korean ramen lol). They even have someone manning the oven earlier in the afternoon and you can pick out a fresh pita bread STRAIGHT FROM THE FREAKING OVEN. Pop one in a paper bag and they charge you a quarter a piece. A quarter. I'm going to post a picture of how much you get for that shiny quarter of yours. (One thing is for certain, if I'm going to get some hummus later that day for take out (from a restaurant nearby) I'm hitting this spot first for bread.) Al-Haramain's Staff is masked up for the pandemic and some patrons wear gloves to touch the fresh produce. The store has hand santizer and extra gloves available at the front of the store if you need them. (but please be mindful to them and others. Bring gloves if you have them at home). (Honest note: I did not think to bring gloves when I came here and the owners said it was ok because he knows there is a shortage on gloves.) The owner and the staff are very friendly and they got a good business here. The deals are hard to walk away from... for example they had huge BOXES of fresh tomatoes ($.69/lb) the size of my face right by the entrance... that actually smell like they came from the garden. (not like the ones from Meijer or Kroger that have no smell at all!) So if you want to start a canning hobby, you should come here and pick out the ones you want. Other items on discount I purchsased were: -$.50/each for cilantro and mint (usually $1.99 at Meijer, Fresh Thyme, Kroger) -$.99/lb for Chinese eggplant -A medium napa cabbage for $2.80 $.99/lb for baby salad cucumbers To be honest, the one solid reason I came here was because they had chinese eggplant. I really really didn't want to travel to Westland to Joe Randazzos or Madison Heights for 168 Asian Mart. This year I've been trying to be more mindful of the local community close to me. I know Joe Randazzos and 168 are established. I read that Al Haramain International had new management so I wanted to give them a try especially during these difficult times when we are seeing local business throw in the towel at every other strip mall. I wasn't disappointed because I knew what I was getting myself into. I'm not walking here expecting Joe Produce Quality because I'm also trying to save a little money too. Don't misinterpret what I wrote there. I'm not saying that the produce isn't fresh here. I'm saying that there might be a bruise on something or the eggplant might not be as firm as something you'll pay full price for somewhere else. Overall the produce is fresh. You can use most of it within the first 1-3 days. There are some heavy mark ups on American goods here and it's probably so they don't have to stock it up all the time. We see that at most international grocery stores so that shouldn't come as a surprise. But what really ... meant a lot to me and inspired me to write this long long review on this store is that despite them being short staffed, the staff smiles with their eyes and engage in kind conversation to get to know you better. Old fashioned service. I miss that. They are the kind of store that offers a candy sucker to your kids. And if your kiddos are too young for that, they offer a small little toy because they probably don't see kids much now that the pandemic is making it's second wave here in Michigan. To be honest, I really appreciated that simple gesture as I don't go out as much as an Elite but when I do, I look for that welcome and experience that I got from Al-Haramains. Give this a place a try. :) See what you can find in there that can work for you and your family. :)

This store owner is not honest. He mixes good apple with bad apple. All of the fruits in the store are bad. Some expired items on the shelves. Prices are high too I bought some bad peaches which was on sale end up throw in a garbage can. What a waste of money and time. Please be careful buying from this store. Owner is very greedy. Give customer right stuff

Lots of produce selection. Not sure how fresh they can be. Hope they don't spray any chemicals to make it last longer. I saw 2 bottle sprays on the floor at the produce aisle. You could find a variety of nuts, candies and canned goods. They have the deli, meat and bakery area. The guy who checked us out was friendly. He must be the owner. Clean area. Will come back for the candies from Middle East!

New owners new name and new improvements to the inside. Fresh smiling faces and what looks to be some great updates to come (in progress) They still have the amazing freshly made Iraqi bread too! I wIll be back

Loved the produce and the large variety of spices. The clerk was happy to explain things to me if I asked. Plus they have farm cheese in several varieties. Prices are great and beat or meet the larger chains.

The store is supposedly Owned by Muslims and sells halal food. However, the people who work there don't seem to practice honesty or islamic values. Although some of the prices are marked down indicating sale, you quickly discover that you are charged the regular price instead. Moreover, sometimes you discover that you are charged for an item you didn't buy! When you remind the person at the register, he/ she will really try to make it difficult to refund your money, like "go to your car and get the item" or "wait until the customers in line leave" or .....even though you have the receipt but that will not help you. This happens to me personally several times within few weeks and my friends had the same experience. It is unfortunate to see some of the Muslims put profit/ money a head of their own Islamic values!

Great Service and quality. Very friendly staff. They have lots of variety, always find what I need. Meat section spotless with good quality.

Good for middle-eastern spices/groceries. I usually shop here for sumac, dried mint, dried whole lemon, shawarma spices, pine nuts, candies. They also have the meat section with variety cuts of Lamb, Beef, Chicken. And yes it is Halal. Their grilled items were quite tasty before but not so sure about it anymore.

Nothing that fancy, noting that bad either. They advertise crazy deals. But, when you go to store, you notice that those olive oils are actual Blends with 80% Canola Oil. It is hard to see the word Blend on the flyers. Also, some advertised items were gone early. There are better stores in the area. I am not sure how often I may want to go this place. It is good to have it in the market for competition for the sake of customers.

Great selection of foods and customer service. Very nice staff, I will be coming back even though I live in Waterford.

Okay! I went there today. Vegetables and fruits are NOT fresh. I bought ground beef. When I got home, I was skeptical when I opened the bag. The meat looked too weird to me. The texture was different. When I cooked it, it didn't smell like beef at all. When I tasted it, OMG. It tasted like cottage cheese. The texture was weird. Will never go there again. Never. And I do not recommend this place at all especially for meat/chicken/veggies/fruits/bread.

The food is not fresh here. I bought baba ganoush and when I got home and opened the package it was moldy. My husband also went there for chicken and vegetables. Everything had mold. Would not recommend this place.

10 Limes for $1!! The olives were disgusting and infested with flies.. good for fresh veggies tho, I love buying ingredients from here to make tabbouleh

No stars. No customer service. They will not help you if you ask questions. We work near the store which is convenient but will drive farther to other middle eastern markets when we need items.

my FIRST visit to zamzam today. Mid afternoon, only ONE other customer. Wanting to purchase ready-made foods at the back of the store, I was the ONLY customer. A butcher was present behind the joint counter. As was another man behind the prepared foods. Did EITHER of them make eye contact, acknowledge my presence across the counter glass? No, not once. Did either of them choose to assist me? No. Both even went back behind the scenes for a minute while I waited. NO SERVICE, no attempt at service. I emptied my cart of already gathered items, shared my anger with the sole (and no customer in his line) cashier with my guarantee never to shop there again. No deal is that good, fellas.

"I travel to MI. a lot, and thought I'd go in to see what this place was all about. I use to live in Bel-Aire and always loved the smells coming from Greenes burgers, and walked to this shopping center all the time, but walking up to this store all you can smell is from the backside of their store the stench is disgusting to the point of not ever trusting whats inside to be close to "Fresh". You can even smell some of the same stench when you walk inside the store. I will never return to Zamzam to look at anything in this store again, because if they can't keep the back alleyway free of stench, and cleaned like every business before them did, then why would you think they would keep the inside clean or for that matter the products they sell? I will not be returning or telling my friends to try this place, or even have you waste your time shopping here. I'd drive to Detroit before going in here again. It wouldn't let me give a no star rating, but if I could that would be my choice."

Zamzam carries poor quality Veggies, Fruits and Meats. The staff at the counter and across the store this past Friday (October 28, 2016) had charged me double the price for Bakery item and other items even after pointing it out. This is a dishonest business and we need to put them out of business. I will also notify the State Food and Drug Admin.....
