Al Hoota Cave is one of Oman’s most famous natural attractions and definitely the best-known “show cave” (tourist-accessible cave) in the country. The cave is huge and really interesting — honestly I’ve never seen anything like it before. What made it even more amazing was learning how it was formed. It’s a karst limestone cave system, created over a very long time when rainwater mixed with carbon dioxide and slowly dissolved the limestone mountains. Over time this formed natural tunnels, large chambers, and underground water features. Seeing how the water has carved and shaped the mountain from inside is truly fascinating. We went in the late afternoon, and it was perfect — the experience felt calm and enjoyable, and it wasn’t too crowded. I would definitely recommend visiting in the afternoon if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy it properly. A must-visit place in Oman!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Al Hoota Cave is an amazing natural attraction and a must-visit place in Oman. The cave is beautifully maintained, and the guided tour is very informative, explaining the history, rock formations, and unique ecosystem inside the cave. Walking through the cool tunnels is a refreshing experience, especially considering the hot weather outside. The lighting inside the cave highlights the stunning stalactites and stalagmites, making it feel almost magical. The visitor center is well organized, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a great place for families, nature lovers, and anyone interested in geology. Overall, Al Hoota Cave offers a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommended if you’re exploring the Nizwa area or planning a trip around Oman!

Amazing place, a must visit for tourists and residents. Operational from 9am till 5pm. I suggest to come early so can visit museum afterwards as well. Adult citizens pay 3.5/person. Non citizens pay 7.5/person. I had kids with me and they enjoyed it to the fullest. The cave approx takes 30-45 minutes after golf cart drops you. The train has been dismantled and removed altogether. The restaurant was also closed when we went there. The cave is magnificient, with guided one-way path that circles it. There are a lot of steps, no food is allowed but i suggest to take big water bottles as it get humid and sweaty inside sometimes. You can have guided tour and go without guide as well. We went without guide so enjoy the cave slowly. The guides are usually in a hurry to finish off the cave quickly. You can always start from zero again if guide was quick. SUNSET AFTER COMING OUT IS AMAZING! It has mosque, free parking, clean washrooms.

If you are looking for a natural wonder in Oman, this Cafe will be perfect tourism choice . It is located at the foot of Jebel shames, in the Al Dakhiliyah region of Oman, near the town of Al Hamra. It is about 2 to 2.5 hours by car from Muscat. The cave is estimated to be over 2 million years old and stretches for approximately 5 kilometers, bout only about 500 meters are accessible to the public. The cave is generally open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Online booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons.

What an experience, well worth a detour. Wonderful nature creation. The tour through the cave was lovely, well built staircase and interesting information boards on the way. In addition to that there is an information centre and climbing wall which is charged in addition to the ticket. The only thing that could be improved is the coffee machine as the cafe did not serve latte or cappuccino 🤭

Great place to visit if you are in the area! There is a comprehensive museum in the main building. The cave itself is around 2 minutes away from a golf cart, which is included in the price. You can walk inside the cave by yourself or with a guide, we decided to go by ourselves. Complete walk last around 30 minutes and it’s very interesting to see how nature and time are capable of building amazing things like this cave! I took one star because the cost is a bit too much in my opinion.

We visited Al Hoota Cave on a holiday, and it turned out to be one of the most enchanting experiences in Oman. As always, being with my dear friends made the trip even more special. The moment you step inside the cave, you feel transported into a different world — for a while, you will be in and out, wondering which part of the globe you are actually in. Once you reach the main gate, you take your tickets and wait for the small train that carries visitors to the cave entrance. That short train trip itself is a fine piece of mesmerising experience — the views and the anticipation build up the excitement before you even step inside. The guided tour takes you through millions of years of natural history, with spectacular stalactites, stalagmites, and an underground lake that is home to rare blind fish. The atmosphere inside is cool, calm, and almost magical, making it a refreshing escape from the outside heat. Outside, the museum and displays add, more insight into the geology and history of the cave. Everything is well-maintained, organized, and makes the visit smooth and informative. If you’re in or around Nizwa, this is definitely a must-visit attraction. Whether with family, colleagues, or friends, Al Hoota Cave is one of those places that leaves you amazed and makes you appreciate the hidden natural wonders of Oman.

Al Hoota Cave is one of the most beautiful natural places hidden by nature in the Sultanate of Oman. It is considered one of the oldest mountain caves and the largest cave in the Arabian Peninsula. It is home to short-tailed cave bats and blind fish that live in the lake. The beautiful landscapes falling from the top of the cave, with their beautiful colors, add to the magnificence and beauty of the place. It is a marvel of nature in the Sultanate of Oman. I strongly encourage visiting it, as there is a science exhibition on the second floor of the main hall of the cave.
