A very beautiful mosque just around the Place de l'Etoile where you find most of Beirut's historical sites. Mosque is open only at prayer times, so make sure you are there at the right time if you wish to peek through

This used to be a crusader church for saint john turned into a mosque with the mamlook occupation of beirut almost 100 years after it was built. It is almost 1000 years old and is a very nice place to visit.

This mosque used to be a church in ancient time. That is why it is in rectangular shape.

Al-Omari Grand Mosque locted in Downtown, Beirut. The Al-Omari Grand Mosque was originally the old church of Saint John the Baptist, built by the crusaders in 1150. In 1291, the Mamluks captured Beirut and converted the church into a mosque. The Mosque was badly damaged during the Civil war 1975-1990 and refurbishment was completed in 2004 to bring back the Mosque in it's original condition.

One of the most Islamic heritage we still have in Beirut. Side by side with Church Bells and the call for Prayers... Love it
