Al Sangiovese is a well-known purveyor of bolognese dishes, a little out of the centre but worth the short walk to get to. Firstly it has a friendly and family like atmosphere, comfortable and up market enough for a nice evening out. The starters were an eye opener, two unique dishes neither of us had seen before, with the chard and herb tart being a highlight. The bolognese was lovely by all accounts and my mushroom tagliatelle was spot on. It's priced well and has nice house wines by the glass. Well worth a visit!

Incredible food. Our go-to restaurant in Bologna. All the pastas are fresh and delicious. Very authentic, traditional Bolognese food. Will keep going back every time we visit.

Nice restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. The risotto and lasagna were both delicious, but the real standouts were the wine and the apple cake - absolutely exceptional! I highly recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant is almost always packed. Definitely worth a visit. Waitress was very friendly and made our experience even better.

Our favorite meal in Bologna and possibly in all of Italy! The lasagne was the best I’ve ever tasted. Thank you to our wonderful waitress Antonella for being so kind and welcoming. This place is fantastic and well worth the short walk outside of the main tourist area of Bologna.

The lasagna was absolutely mouthwatering rich, flavorful, and elevated by the unique touch of spinach. We also loved the tagliatelle it was so fresh But the highlight…Antonella’s dessert. The real life Nonna herself was our server. She made a torta cioccolato, so good it nearly brought me to tears. Hands down, the best dessert we’ve had in Italy.

Just the perfect hidden gem of a restaurant. Outside of old town city center. Portions were generous and price for 3 was lower than expected. HUGE mixed plate of meats and cheese, with bread, was almost too big for us. Lasagna, tagliatelle ragu, and tortellini filled with ricotta in sage butter sauce was incredible. Beer, wine, Coca-Cola, 2 desserts for under 100$ . Would come back just to give the owner another hug. She was so fun and made our night feel special. Make a reservation…always full. Only 1 turn of tables.

Unfortunately, it was the worst experience that we had in entire Italy! We travel a lot but the atmosphere from this restaurant was so bad that ruined our night and leave us with a bad memory from Bologna! The lady who served us was making bad jokes on our back and on another’s couple (also turists) but was very friendly with Italians. The food was nothing to impress, the pasta with no taste and the piadine were uncooked (we couldn’t eat them). Even if we wanted to have also dessert to celebrate my husband’s birthday, we decided to leave the restaurant as soon as possible and to go for a gelato somewhere else. Avoid this restaurant if you are not local because you will not be good welcomed!

First night in Bologna, and this will be hard to beat. Most fabulous lasagne I’ve ever had, light as a feather somehow and the flavour…. Been all across Europe recently, this is an absolute standout.
