Yelp
We stayed in one of the restaurants three accomodations for four nights. Location is nothing short of amazing. Breathtaking views, quiet, killer-sunsets just in front of your door. The whole peninsula - which is a National Park (Parco Nazionale del Gargano) is worth visiting and exploring. Fun to drive as well (a bit narrow at times).
Since we had our "home" for a few days here, we did naturally come to this restaurant for dinner. Every night. The first night was a night to remember. A huge storm hit the place, people had to hide insight and wait out the storm. But the mood was still good and people enjoyed their drinks. After the storm did quiet down we had our first dinner here.
They have fantastic food here. Italian and seafood dishes. With a twist. Also a huge wine list with fantastic wines. For white wine try some Puglian Fiano (INSOLITO -Michele Biancardi or Antica Enotria). For red try out the LE BRACI Negroamaro - Severino Garofano.
The kind of pasta we've enjoyed the most were the "Troccoli". Thicker and heavier (homemade) than Spaghetti. A real treat. There are several dishes here you can order with this kind of pasta.
That said all the meals were wonderful. Never fell short. Great standard, high quality ingredients. But what stands out even more than the pasta is the fish and seafood. It doesn't get better and/or fresher than this here (except you catch it yourself). Probably the best and freshest seafood we've ever had. And we've had many.
Some of the meals we've ordered:
- Troccoli with Vongole (clams)
- Fresh troccoli pasta with a spring onion cream, cuttlefish* and a smoked
herring paste
- Fresh pappardelle with a catch of the day fish ragu
- Fusillone pasta with a mix of raw and sauteed prawns* in a fresh rosemary
infused tomato
- Mixed pasta with seafood and cured fish roe
- Deep fried trawler fish, prawns and calamaretti with zucchini scapece
- Traditional stuffed mussels
- Traditional salted cod oven baked with hyacinth bulbs and potatoes
And now the best for last:
- Raw seafood platter of the day
This raw (crudo) platter is an experience. The freshest seafood you'll ever put in your mouth. A huge platter with oysters, squid, raw fish, shrimp, langoustines and clams. All so good, don't shy away in case you've never eaten raw seafood. Oysters were amazing. And the Langoustines were so full of flavour, you can taste the sea ... and so sweet. A wonderful platter. Great starter (serves 2) and for 22 Euros a steal.
An amazing restaurant. Location, views, freshness, quality. It's all there. Since we were staying with them we even were able to let them serve some pasta for us for lunch to our accomodation. And in the evening we always got a table. But: If you don't stay here, be sure to make a reservation. It's a hugely popular place. Be it the restaurant or the outside section (with a reduced menu) to watch the sunset.
Loved it. A must-do when in the area. And worth an even longer drive.
