We knew we wanted to visit Pearl Harbour as soon as we knew we were headed to Hawaii.||We chose Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra in Honolulu as our base for the evenings before and after our Pearl Harbour visit.|This hotel was perfect for our needs and the Pearl Harbour National Memorial is a 20 minute drive from the hotel. |It was close to the beach and has extensive shopping opportunities which are within walking distance. |It’s a conference centre too so there was a lot of comings and goings and a few events were taking place in the hotel the nights we were there.|However it was quiet in our room and we had no complaints. ||We didn’t spend a huge amount of time in the hotel, as we arrived late the first evening and left around 9:30am on departure day, so we didn’t get to utilise the leisure facilities. However there is a rooftop pool and a gym.|There is also a variety of stores in the lobby area and a bar on site which looked very popular.||The Ala Moana Shopping Mall, which is right next to the hotel, is extensive and has a great food court. |Both Walmart and Target are within walking distance which is great for buying the essentials. |We also drove to Costco which is only a 10-15 min drive away. |There is a large Starbucks inside the lobby area and it was great for grabbing a drink and breakfast in the mornings.||The beach is a short 5 minute walk and we saw an amazing sunset when we walked down the second evening. |Our room faced the ocean which was lovely.||There is some on street parking and loads of car parks but 99% of parking in Honolulu will set you back quite a few bucks. |It costs $39 USD per 24 hours to park in the Ala Moana Hotel parking garage.|We used the parking at the hotel and it was convenient and secure. |The parking garage is situated under the hotel building and can be accessed directly from the hotel lobby area. ||Overall the hotel was a great base and we would consider it again if we return to the island.

Rooms were very small, however needing was comfortable and clean. The building just seems a bit old, a lot of dark creepy halls. Staff wasn’t super friendly or helpful, I had no idea where anything was since I wasn’t provided a map or told by the front desk when I checked in. I also I was hit with “amenity fees”, I had booked through Expedia and had no idea. Location is nice only if you are going to an event at the convention center.

Google
Great location close to Ala Moana Center with all the eateries and shops. Also short 10min walk to beautiful Ala Moana Beach. We had an ocean view high floor double which was adequate for our family. The beds were comfy and we had a great night's sleep. Big thank you to Justin on front desk who provided excellent service. He was very knowledgeable and gave us good advice and local insight to make our stay special.

Google
This hotel was nothing like the pictures! Walking in the main entrance, the hotel looked really nice and up to date head on. Once we got to our room it was a totally different experience. The bathroom was not clean, the room had a bad odor, and the bedding was poor. The pillows were so comically small that they looked like airplane pillows. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Google
Brayden at the front desk was amazing, and saved us during check-in after we realized that our reservation didn't include the first night we needed. Everyone else was helpful, the place was spotless, and the facility felt open enough that nothing was too crowded, even though I know there were lots of guests during our stay. Perfect location to the convention center for my conference. Really great hotel overall!!

Google
Great hotel. Rooms are bit small and we had issues with the security box, but the staff responded quickly. I am not sure why your gym is not 24-7. It should be. We are using it at our own risk. I wanted to work out after 10 pm every night, when I finally had time but couldn't. Also your pool is old, and doesn't fit well with a Hawaii vacation or a fun place. Build another pool and/or an adjacent jacuzzi. I love the hotel otherwise. Hotel is very clean. Affordable and has a great staff.

Google
Our stay was okay. Our room was located on the back side of the hotel so the view from our room looked down into a parking lot and lots of other buildings no awesome view. Was happy to have our beds made daily and fresh towels again. The location is close enough to where we needed to go.

Google
Thanks for making our last two days on the island memorable. We booked a room with a partial ocean view to celebrate our life in Hawaii as we were moving off Island. We would like to say the customer service lady knew her job and and understood the assignment to have the perfect room on our low budget. She found us a great room with a view that stayed in our budget and allowed us the thrill of seeing our favorite place Ala Moana Beach Park. THANKS for making our trip perfect.

Yelp
Central location next to Ala Moana Center [Honolulu HI] The hotel is in a desirable spot near Waikiki and downtown. The lobby is huge with a Starbucks lounge. There is a connecting bridge on the second floor to the world's largest open-air shopping mall, the Ala Moana Center. Registration was easy but the guy was a bit slow in checking us in. We booked through a 3rd party so we were told that our room would be on the "Airbnb side" of the hotel. What does this mean?? Well, they said that any " extras" we requested (like add'l towels, pillows, blankets and other stuff) will have to go through where we booked (3rd party company). Okaaaaay... luckily, we're not fussy people and most of our days were spent out exploring... and eating シ Basic amenities included small fridge, microwave oven, and a flatscreen TV. Free WiFi. We had a queen size bed in our room. The bed was comfortable. The room is small, though, and hubby and I aren't big people. I do like the water pressure in the shower and a good shower always feels good before hopping in bed. Parking is $39/day which we paid ahead during check-in. The hotel is 100% non-smoking. We might consider staying here again since the location is walking distance to everything in downtown Honolulu. 3.5 Stars Review #3590

Yelp
Good location if you don't want to be around the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. However..... I gave it one star because this hotel is absolutely dirty! We stayed in the Kona tower and the rooms were so outdated. The carpets and furniture were filthy. I did not even want to leave my bags or luggage on top of them. The bed and pillows were shit. And the bathroom...oh my gosh the bathroom. The bathroom curtain smelled like sweat! So incredibly disgusting. Even after my shower I didn't feel clean! Enjoyed my time in Hawaii, but was super glad to come home to my bed and clean bathroom. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere!

Yelp
Had a great time at a fundraiser at the Ala Moana Hotel. I had an Apple genius bar appointment later on so I just parked in the Ala Moana Shopping Center parking area. There are a few stalls u need to pay for while going to the Ala Moana Hotel so pay attention to any nearby signs. Spacious bathroom facilities and a Starbucks on the ground floor. Banquet staff were courteous and efficient. Good venue for the fundraiser luncheon. Good acoustics when singers performed Phantom of the Opera songs.

Yelp
Nice hotel, conveniently located outside Waikiki main strip near the Ala Moana Mall with a sky deck bridge connection to the hotel. Pool and lobby was nice. Room was comfortable and clean from what I experienced. I would stay here again. Walkable to Waikiki and back.

Yelp
With the wide selection of hotels in Honolulu, you are spoiled for choice on where to stay. In the end, my girlfriend and I chose Ala Moana by Mantra and we had a love-hate relationship with the hotel. There were some things we really liked, but other things that we wished were done better. Starting from the customer service, I thought they were great! The check-in was convenient, the front desks were friendly and the room service was terrific! Additionally, the location is very strategic, you would get to your typical tourist sites pretty quickly by car (most places are within 30-40 minutes drive). There is a huge shopping mall right across this hotel (Ala Moana Center) which is connected through the 2nd floor by a parking lot! With that said, we weren't totally satisfied with the room. We thought it was a little too tiny. and the mattress was hard like a rock! However, one thing that really stood out to us was how great the water pressure in the shower was (nothing feels better than a relaxing shower before sleep) ! Overall, if location and water pressure in the shower are your number one priority when looking for a hotel, then this would be a solid choice ! On the other hand, if you are looking for comfortable mattresses and spacious rooms, you might want to consider other options.

Yelp
Gina and the entire staff serving the Hawai'i Coffee Conference this weekend were among the most attentive I've ever experienced in my decades of traveling to meetings, large and small. From the banquet staff to other services, conference organizers and vendors like my contingent were very appreciative of the impeccable service, attention to, and anticipation of, client needs, and in managing conflicting information. We had only one communication glitch surrounding parking, and each staff member touching the situation were on point, patient, and resolution oriented. We were even asked, "How can we make this right for you today?" And, the food was very good, fresh and tasty, from cocktail receptions, breakfasts, lunches, and our banquet dinner. Can't forget the bell and valet staff, for their cheerful and quick assistance as well!

Yelp
This is by far one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed. If staying on the Kona tower side, be prepared to hear yelling of homeless and tourists/patrons of the hotel, and the echoes of noise are insane. The glass bottles are next level. People spend sometimes 2 hours disposing of glass recycling, one by one, just about every morning. You'll get the sweet sounds of bottles being dumped each night, as well as each morning. As well, the delivery trucks and rubbish trucks at sometimes 330am, backing up. Bring ear plugs!

Yelp
Meeting venue in Honolulu, Hawaii... I've attended many types of functions at the Ala Moana Hotel. From weddings, birthday parties, seminars, and retirement celebrations, the Ala Moana Hotel has various room sizes for any occasion. On 10-14-23, my family gathered for a triple Memorial Service for my aunt, my cousin, and my cousin's son. The Garden Lanai room was the perfect size for the Military Honors ceremony, the PowerPoint presentation, and the singing of Hawaii Aloha together. The coffee, tea, and water stations were much appreciated. The restrooms across the hallway were clean and convenient. Air conditioning was wonderful! There was a parking validation stamp for those who parked at the hotel. Many of us parked at the Ala Moana Center and walked over, using the connecting ramp near Macy's on the mall level. Thank you for a comfortable venue for friends and family!

Yelp
Very good overnight stay while our home was being tented. Nice lobby with Starbucks. I got the breakfast package so both of us had the buffet breakfast without having to leave the hotel. Elevators are fast. Shampoo in shower wall container pump smelled nice. Iron board in closet if you need, hair dryer. Room was spacious enough with a balcony. Bath tub had grab bar. Good water pressure. Room cleaner greeted us as we were heading down to the lobby to check out. Why not 5 stars? Toilet seemed very low but that's just me, Room looked great. If I didn't look down I wouldn't have noticed the paint on the bottom of the bathroom door. Only thing is you pay to park at Ala Moana Center by QR code after 9:30 pm you can't enter up there. We had to walk down the up ramp and that slope can be difficult for aged knees,

Yelp
The Ala Moana Hotel is conveniently located right by the Ala Moana shopping center! Many locals (Kamaaina) stay here because it is outside of Waikiki. Elsie, Sales & Marketing Assistant, is very nice, friendly and professional. My daughter and her boyfriend wanted to stay here during the holidays. Elsie was helpful with confirming their reservation and very gracious by helping them move it when my daughter fell ill. She was prompt with my rescheduling request and lovely to talk to. Such Great Customer Service! Elsie definitely has the Aloha Spirit! Mahalo Elsie!

Yelp
Nice Hotel with great steak house called signature. The elevators going up to the rooms are controlled only with your room key. The hotel is connected to the largest in door out mall in the world. Staff has the Aloha spirit. Lobby has a coffee shop and a restaurant Time of writing this they have plans on improving the grounds by adding condos.

Yelp
Disappointed in our visit. The pictures online show a gorgeous hotel, but the room was run down. The lobby and exterior look amazing however. The front desk, checking in, was busy. The worker's customer service reflected they were busy and stressed. They were cut and dry getting us checked in. He didn't even explain the self parking process to us, which we later had difficulty with. Luckily the parking attendant was extremely kind, patient and helpful. For the price we were paying for our "discounted" group rate and additional taxes and parking fees, the price was not worth what we got. The room was run down: older carpet, mattress was a bit lumpy, pull out chair bed looked old, old fixtures in the bathroom, normal wear and tear throughout the hotel room (which showed it hasn't been updated in a long time). There wasn't extra sheets or pillows and the room seemed smaller than an average hotel room. We booked our room in November for a May vacation. I called after I booked asking if I could do a late check out. I was told I would need to ask upon checking in. When I checked in, however, the employee said they are too busy and have been over booked and could not accommodate late check ins since they have been that way for months. Not sure why I was told two different things but this, in my opinion, is not good business practice. During our stay we either encountered very pleasant employees (5 star rating) or employees who made you feel unwelcome (1 star rating). Nothing in between. **If you are staying here for a convention or event, be very aware of the wait time for your Starbucks hotel. Our first time ordering took over an hour to get our small two person order.** Overall, it's not a horrible hotel, but definitely overpriced for what you get. The view of the city and ocean were great!! But definitely will not stay here again for the price we paid this trip.

Yelp
We had a great experience at this hotel during an extremely busy time due to an event across the street. The hospitality was on point and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
This hotel is located next door to the Ala Moana Center with lots of restaurant choices and shopping! This place is also close distance to the beach. Upon entering, the lobby is nice and clean. The rooms however feel outdated but the views on the lanai are spectacular depending the location of your room.

Yelp
They don't have comforters on their beds. Only thin sheets. So cold and uncomfortable. Called housekeeping for an extra blanket and they never came. Never want to stay again. Place was very old and dated.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights during our trip to Oahu. The room was fine for our visit - nothing exceptional but we don't need too much. After the first night, the cleaning staff stopped leaving new wash cloths and we had to call the front desk to ask for more. We reused towels but wanted fresh wash cloths each day. There is a Starbucks and some shops and other restaurants on the bottom floor, which was convenient. Parking was quite a problem - the garage is very small and a few times the only spaces available were for electric cars. People were parked in places that weren't spaces, blocking others in. At $35/night, they should have a better solution for parking, especially since many spots are for compact cars only. It was not a bad stay, just could use a few improvements to make guests experience better.

Yelp
So, this was my first time staying at this hotel and tbh, it was NICE! We had a wonderful time and a wonderful stay. I'd suggest to anyone to stay here if they had an event at the convention center. Why?! Because it's only a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. Bring here at the hotel made it so much easier for us to get to the graduation without having to deal with y he traffic, construction or parking everyone else had to face that night. Unfortunately, this was all late and unexpected but still, Aiea High School managed to pull it off! And main thing is... the kids HAD A GRADUATION! So, although we had to PAY for the easiness of things and the convenience of things, I'm glad we did! Kids got to experience a stay-cation for a few days. NOT EXACTLY HOW WE HOPED IT WOULDVE BEEN BUT STILL IT WAS SOMETHING WONDERFUL TO EXPERIENCE! So thank you Ala Moana Hotel for letting our family have a wonderful stay. I do wish the sauna was open and working tho! That was the ONE THING IN THE WHOLE HOTEL MY HUSBAND WANTED TO EXPERIENCE, the sauna. But NOPE! It was out of order! The room service was good too! We didn't need it until the last 2 days but they did change out the towels and what not. So thank you! The staff was very kind and helpful. There was a bit of misunderstanding at one point with one of the front desk clerks but the manager Alex, was great! He was able to help us in our situation. So BIG MAHALO TO ALEX!!! There's so much more for em to say and share but, I think I'll add that in later. For now, I'll just say that my stay was much appreciated & I would love to come back here for another stay.

Yelp
Ala Moana Hotel (Mantra) is a convenient & comfortable hotel in Honolulu. It's not in central Waikiki, so traffic and parking is easier to deal with at this location. Staff is friendly. A convenience store in lobby. Several eating places onsite including a popular steakhouse on the very top floor. There is direct access to Ala Moana Shopping Center parking lot with easy walking to the main mall. There are two towers: Waikiki and Kona. Waikiki is the better one (higher, better views, and bigger balconies). The view of NY's fireworks and sunrises were amazing on the 30th floor!
google avatar

Kristen U.

Yelp
It was a last minute decision to stay because we had an event in town. It's convenient and staff is friendly. I like that it's outside of Waikiki and walking distance to the mall. They accommodated all what I had asked upon arrival. We stayed in a smaller room because we were literally just staying there because we didn't want to drive back to the westside. The last time we booked a suite. The only downfall is the elevators. The hotel was so busy that it was hard getting on the elevators. The parking is also pricey.

Yelp
If you like to be the center of attention J/K . This hotel connects you to the famous world largest outdoor mall in the world. Feel free to fact-check me on that. It's a one stop location pretty much a whole day event. Lots of eateries food court and around outside the mall. It does have a walk way from ala moana hotel. Our room is a Ocean view room means facing the city and the ocean is on the right side of your balcony. Room is spacious the bed is like full size. I would stay here again. SYOY

Yelp
Back again and Zach really went above and beyond for me. I will only stay here because of Zach! He truly knows how to take care of his customers. I was checked into an amazing room! It was truly priceless. Thank you Zach!! I will only stay at Ala Moana Hotel when I visit Hawaii. He truly deserves a raise and promotion. 10/10 stars would recommend!! Bryson at the Front Desk also went above and beyond. He really gave me the best room in the house and I was so appreciative because it was a special occasion. He really deserves a raise for a promotion to Manager. Thank you so much Bryson you really really made my vacation some special and I'll only stay at Ala Moana because of you!

Yelp
I only chose to stay at this hotel because of the convenience of it being next to the mall. I should have read the reviews first. Arrived around 10 pm, only one other person in line, about 5 staff at the front desk. Not one single greeting or "we will be right with you"... Just two female employees that clearly see me waiting in line but too busy talking and doing something on the computer. It would be nice to be greeted at least and say something to the effect of "we will be right with you". Another staff member had to tap her on the shoulder and point out that I have been waiting and have not been helped yet. She takes a brief glance at me, says yah I know, then goes back to jabbering away with the other front desk person. I booked a "city view" room and of course, I have a view of a roof. The room is extremely small, it's dingy, smells bad, it's dirty and the bathroom is stained and has random hair. I feel gross staying here. It's worse than a motel. I'm dreading every minute in this room. I'm extremely regretful I booked this room. Never again.

Yelp
There's certain aspects that I enjoy about staying in this hotel and other things that I dislike. Pros: Second floor connects foot traffic and pedestrians from Ala Moana Mall parking lot to the hotel. If you're staying one or more nights, you're able to save money by scanning red and white Premium Parking QR code and pay via credit or debit card. Park along the row same side as QR code. You're welcome to add more funds if necessary. We utilized this option for overnight parking only. Close access to Ala Moana Mall, Ala Moana Beach Park, and start of Waikīkī. Cafe 410, a breakfast buffet serving local and continental food, located on the 2nd flr. Cafe Dada serving lunch or dinner on the 3rd floor next to the pool. The Signature Prime Steak & Seafood has their own elevator on the 1st flr. Hydration station located on 2nd flr to refill Yeti, Stanley, flask. Starbucks located on 1st level. Fitness room on the premises. Partitioned cabanas, egg shaped chairs, blue cushioned seats, lounge chairs at pool on 3rd flr. Enjoyed floating and swimming in the cold pool. Always bring your room key(s) - need it for elevator and on 2nd flr if returning late in the evening. Beds and pillows were comfy. Combination of locals and tourists. Staff and housekeeping are helpful. Cons: Breakfast is not included in room price. You're welcome to add it to your room bill. There's no sauna to warm your body. We stayed in Waikīkī Tower. Bathroom needs to be cleaned better or remodel it. Tiny. Only can fit one person comfortably. No bidet. Charging stations are not up to par and doesn't charge quick. Bring your own portable mobile charging devices. Thank goodness we brought three with us. The PA system at the pool appears outdated and rusty. Replace with a new and updated version if necessary. An eyesore while catching some vitamin D and suntanning on lounge chair to the right. Parking rates are higher at the hotel day and evening. Return pool towel(s) when you're done. If not, expect $25 charge on room bill. Outdated. Try it once and see what you prefer. I'm not able to give four or five stars because I've experienced immaculate hotel stays on O'ahu and in two third world countries.

Yelp
This is a very good place to stay in Waikiki. 10-15 minutes walk from beach, shops, and grocery.

Yelp
Was nice until my entire family and I were bitten by bed bugs. Shower water was only slightly warm. I was only given a half a roll of toilet paper and no extra. Various room outlets did not work. Bring ear plugs because you can hear everything through the walls and floors. Elevators were messed up because they would start ascending before you could even scan and press for your floor. I've stayed in worst hotels in Oahu such as Pagoda and Shoreline so I'm giving this hotel a 3/5.

Yelp
Nope nope nope I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. Holy moly the rooms in the Kona tower are so small and cramped, it's making me claustrophobic! No joke if that is an issue for you don't stay here, feel like I'm Suffocating in an MRI machine. I'm here for a conference so I get to run out during the day, the furniture looks like it's from 1995! I can't imagine someone spending their vacation here! The coffee machine looks gross and old the blanket is literally an old thin brown throw. Can't believe I traveled all day to come to this. Ugh can't believe I'm stuck here. Never again. This place needs a multimillion dollar renovation. You couldn't pay me to sit on the chairs in the lobby. They are so old and gross feels like you could catch an STD sitting on it.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with beautiful views... but our room had bugs everywhere in it. Felt disgusted and didn't have the energy to pack up our belongings just to move rooms.

Yelp
I came home to surprise my parents. They recently moved into a retirement community and this would be their first Christmas there. Usually we travel somewhere. I had read through the recent reviews, good and bad, but I decided to take advantage of their Kaima'aina rate. It was Christmas Day and my flight was delayed. When I arrived, there was no waiting. The young woman was very friendly and when she asked if I had a car, she found a better Kaima'aina rate that included parking. I appreciated that. I wish I remembered her name. I had booked a room online in the Kona Tower, and requested a room on a high floor and away from the elevators. She gave me a room on the 13th floor, way far away from the elevators, but with a great view of the ocean! It was perfect! No one in any of the rooms near me either! Peace and quiet! It was a good size room, at least for me. There was a microwave, a two cup coffee maker, and a small refrigerator. There was also a room safe. I do wish the sliding doors opened more but I was ok with that. I also wished there was a good desk chair since I did have some work to do. Other than that I enjoyed my week long stay! One of the best things was that I could come and go as I please. Places I've stayed in Waikiki only have valet. I also liked being close to the mall so I could get my steps in. The gym is adequate for the hotel guests. The pool looked nice, but I didn't take advantage. Also, the workers I encountered were all very friendly! I only had housekeeping come in once, and she did a great job! I would definitely stay here again! Sure some people may have had a different experience, but mine was great! Made my stay so much more enjoyable!

Yelp
so i'm giving this hotel 4 stars to try to balance out the 2.9 it currently as (oct 2023) because we had a pretty great stay, though it did not come cheap for starters, i read up on the hotel before booking it and everyone seemed to suggest you must stay in the waikiki tower because they have been more recently renovated/are better maintained, and looking at some of the photos other yelpers have posted, i have to agree we upgraded to a one bedroom with a great view (see uploaded photo), which had this perhaps unintentionally interesting feature where there are two doors to the same room. inside, is an old sliding door you can use to separate the kitchenette area from the bed and bath, which actually worked out really great for us, as we were traveling with a toddler and we could then enter and leave without waking him up at all self parking was $34.50/day which at first sounded outrageous, but then we were charged $50/day at another hotel in the heart of waikiki (so my annoyance has since subsided). the starbucks opens at 530 which is great for us jetlagged folk, but everyone has the same idea so expect it to be pretty busy even in the early, early morning location is great, being a 15 minute walk to foodland farms and their magnificent poke; if you don't have a car, you can pay $5 to hop aboard the waikiki trolley pink line which'll take you to the royal hawaiian center, among other places. all in all, really convenient, and if you get the right room, well worth it in the end. try to read up on the kona vs. waikiki rooms; that may very well be the difference

Yelp
This hotel is VERY inexpensive! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are on a budget! The rooms are very nice and as displayed in the pictures online. We stayed on the 25th floor! For 5 nights of stay, we paid about $1600 for both the room AND parking! Parking is $39 a night and you cannot beat that! Most hotels charge $50+ a night! There is a pool on the 3rd level, very clean! They have Starbucks in the lobby area and a cafe as well. The rooms very clean! Oh, and there is a bridge to the Ala Moana mall on the 2nd floor! Housekeeping is very helpful, I had to tip a few times due to the drunk night LOL! Would highly recommend staying here! The hotel and flight ticket was enough for me and I am very grateful for Ala Moana hotel for the awesome communication and assurance of my stay!

Marlene T.

Yelp
Hotel is perfect spot for everywhere and everything. Think more than half of the hotel is owned by "Mantra" but the upkeeps needs to be improved. The four times we stayed there the bathrooms were in need of upgrades. The sink faucet was always dripping, bathtubs did not drain properly, lightbulb was burnt out and we bought more toilet paper and tissue. Stayed there for four days and have to wash your own set of towels so we also brought our own. Laundry area is on two floors. (Knew in advance from previous stay) Also bought trash bags because no room service but if you want to pay an extra fee of $$$. Hotel stay is not the same as Mantra.

Yelp
Being located next to the shopping, food courts, & activities is the reason to be here. Location. As for accommodation, it gets sketchy. (i.e. 1 bath/1 sink @ 2 BR suite, dust encrusted crevices, etc). Simple & Functional, not fancy, furnishings. Again, it's close proximity to shopping, dining, transportation that makes the difference.

Yelp
First time staying at this hotel. Was looking forward to it because it was right next to the Ala Moana shopping mall. Check in took a while because the line was so long. I explored the lobby in the meantime and there's a Starbucks. When we got to our room, I was pleasantly surprised. The view from our balcony was fine. I could see the pool and partial view of the ocean. We stayed at this hotel for several nights. Most early mornings I would sit on the balcony and do some work on my laptop while enjoying the morning breeze. The Wi-Fi worked well except for one morning. The rest of the room was nice. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Nice size TV. Bathroom with the usual amenities and plenty of counter space. Safe, microwave, coffee maker, and small fridge. We never ate at the hotel. Since we were walking distance to the Ala Moana shopping mall, we chose a few times to eat there. So convenient to walk to the mall using the connecting walkway. Hated the fact that the pool was only available for use during very limited hours. Construction on the outside of the building facing the pool. Hated parking. Limited and sometimes you had to park outside of the hotel with the few parking spaces that were available if you were lucky. Sometimes cars were double parked in the hotel parking lot. Best to get back to the hotel early in order to find parking. Would I stay here again? Yes, I would and hopefully the parking improves.

Yelp
Normally I wouldn't leave a review of a hotel but I thought I would share some thoughts. I had booked my room what I thought was the hotel site. Of course wanted kamaaina rate with free parking. But seems I didn't get it even though I selected it. Somehow it was linked to an outside agency. Ok my bad. When I checked in I said do I get free parking and check in staff said no because I didn't book the kamaina room. "Those agencies don't know what kamaiana is so you didn't book it. You need to call for kamaina rates". Ok missed that on the hotel site. My bad. Even showed my Hawaii drivers license Before few days before I just happened to be doing an event at the hotel. Ran down to front and asked politely that I had a reservation in a couple of days and could I request a late check out. Clerk answered "no late check outs we all booked and too busy" no apologies or we are sorry that it won't be known until that day... Sorry for asking ... geeez Called the hotel later and left a message about seeing if I could get late check out. Polite call back the next day that I could check on day before check out. Nice reply and thanks. And btw parking is $39 for all day no in and out. No kamaiana rate even if I showed my Hawaii drivers license. Need to train staff more about hospitality. Or did I just happen to connect with wrong staff members? Ok one good point. Close to convention center.

Yelp
Full discloser that I was not an overnight staying guest at the Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra. This past weekend was the Miss Hawaii 2022 Pageants held in the Hibiscus Ballroom. Friday was Preliminary Night, while Saturday was Final Coronation Pageant Night. Huge event area that could seat possibly close to a thousand in attendance. Mini-Bar and very clean restroom facilities were just outside, parking was easy and convenient, they also have valet & self-parking, a Starbucks in the Lobby, Signature Steakhouse which I've frequented in the past and again in the future, also if you're an out of town guest, Ala Moana Center is just walking distance from the hotel! This is the only full-service hotel in the Ala Moana district outside of Waikiki! FYI: Miss Hawaii will telecast on Spectrum KFVE Channels 6 and 1006 on June 2 & 11, 2022 @ 7pm.

Yelp
Overall pretty pleased with our first stay at this hotel. Arrival walking into the large lobby was impressive, looked new, clean updated. Check-in was pleasant with a sweet helpful lady. We booked a Waikiki Tower partial ocean view room. There are 6, yes SIX elevators so that tells you how big hotel is. Our room was fine, not very spacious but had the necessities ( fridge/microwave, mini coffee maker) the decent balcony (2chairs/table) for our room 810 was above the pool and had two distant water views between hotels. Beds comfortable, rooms pretty quite, clean, and had a good tub that you could actually lay back in comfortably. The only flaw that really stood out and which was really lack of good maintenance was the rug edge next to tile was pulling apart and unraveling from vacuuming looking tacky as you enter room. Simply tacking it down and trimming would have made such a difference instead of eye-sore. Another mention is for some reason we didn't have lotion in bathroom and thought at first hair conditioner too but realized what I thought was shower gel was actually shampoo-conditioner all in one which I cannot use. I usually bring my own but didn't this time thinking this place would have better quality bath products. The next day we noticed lotion was supposed to have been there because she left it second day. Housekeeping is available daily but we declined for our 3 night stay and just got replenished on couple things. Hotel perks: Starbucks and mini/mart on lobby floor along with a couple small boutique shops, a hair/nail salon ( I got pedicure $35), and a casual cafe but best of all the hotel perks is the steak/seafood restaurant at top floor (34th) called Signature steak. It was the best overall dining experience we had this visit. Excellent happy hour, atmosphere/view and service!! Didn't use the pool unfortunately because it did have lots of spacious lounge areas even cabana style. The reason we chose this location was for location and having direct access to the gorgeous Ala Moana shopping center next door. A 7-10 min. walk and your entering Macy's. Every store from Target to Louis Vuitton plus food options ranging from Jack in Box to Morton's steakhouse! Awesome! And Ala Moana beach park/Magic Island about 10-15 min. walk as well. We'd recommend this hotel due to all the location perks.

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel before but the quality seems to have gone down since then. We recently stayed at this hotel and they are still under construction since we visited last year in April. Mostly by the pool side. The check in was fairly easy. We've never had a problem. They usually have accommodated us early to check in. However the quality of cleaning was poor. The bathroom has previous person's hair on the shower wall. There were multiple stains on the towels that were allegedly clean. We also found a ton of white dust that was under the sink and on the tables. As if our room was under construction when supposedly it was just exterior fixes. I found a few dead bugs and trash behind the drawers. We have stayed in the Kona tower before and we've never had issues. Our hotel room just seemed like it was passed over and barely cleaned. The only reason this hotel is getting 3 stars is because the staff is actually super super friendly and helpful. I didn't want to cause any issues while we were there so we just cleaned up ourselves. Another reason was because of the location. It's connected to the Ala Moana mall which is prime for shopping and eating. We are not sure if we will be staying here anymore in the future but hopefully they can improve their cleaning quality.

Yelp
Rented out the Garden Lanai Ballroom for my grandson's first birthday party. With the help of the Catering Manager, Dennis, he really helped the process and made it easier for me to coordinate. Shot out to Mel and Matt, the Banquet Captain's that helped with managing their staff and also to the bartender Nick. Plus all the staff that had a part making the party a PARTY. My family also rented out some rooms at the hotel which I highly recommend if you're throwing a big party. It was epic , thank you Ala Moana Hotel!

Yelp
I've stayed at the Ala Moana Hotel for 20 years. It's historically been consistently above average. Not any more. Apparently, the hotel is now a mix of privately owned condos and hotel rooms. When booking the room online there is no distinction. To our surprise we were booked into a dumpy condo. With this booking comes: no daily room servicing (no clean towels, additional supplies, or cleaning), the internet does not work (can't be fixed), and when I asked for any additional services was told by the front desk to contact the owner. WHAT? Who & how? Do not book the Ala Moana!

Yelp
Ala Moana Mantra handles the transactions for Ala Moana LSI, yet if Ala Moana LSI has a screw up Mantra does nothing to try and provide assistance. Their staff are told not to do anything and are not permitted to become involved. Though Ala Moana LSI would get zero stars from me I give Ala Moana Mantra at least 2 stars since the staff was pleasant and seemed genuinely concerned. On another note however, I wound up being transferred to an Ala Moana by Mantra room in the tower and it is not very clean. There were used plastic dental picks on the ground; sticky liquid spots on the Entry tiles; dust and dirt on the night stand & dresser surfaces and greasy substance on the table, all which is clear indication they were not wiped down and disinfected as is protocol. Pretty gross actually.

Yelp
Hotel definitely needs to continue its facelift as it's way behind. Service - Check in was great. The best experience at this hotel. Junior Suite - Outdated and old. Furniture old. Bathroom is terrible with no ventilation and old amenities. Shower drainage sucked and filled with water. Definitely not worth the price. Never would go here again as we will be frequent visitors now since our son is going to school there. There are far better hotels to spend your money at and get a location that is up to date. This place is not worth the money. Sorry.

Yelp
Upon a work trip I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel. I love that it's walking distance to the grocery store, mall and lots of places to explore, cafe 410 had a breakfast buffet included and besides the food being wonderful the staff were very kind and attentive even with all the breakfast rush. My room was small but perfect for my work trip. I had two night stands and a desk. The only complaint I have about the room is the nightstand had a clock with one usb outlet and no other outlets unless it was on the desk across the room. Other then that it was nice to have small kitchenette for the duration of my stay! Loved the location and look forward to more work trips in the future! Mahalo!

Yelp
Terrible customer service from the front desk clerk Lyn. She was very rude & did not show any consideration to my needs. I informed her about my delicate situation, and simply needed to stay another night. Lyn definitely added stress to the situation we were experiencing. She was very unprofessional & inconsiderate! Before moving forward, and staying at this establishment in the future. I hope to have a front desk clerk with higher quality standards & a beautiful personality. Hopefully, corporate will review my concerns & speak to her about her improvement on customer service. I reached out to management & hoping they will return my call. Peace:):)

Yelp
the location of this hotel is great because you can walk to a lot of different locations. however, if you're not paying TOP DOLLAR to stay in the "better side" of the hotel. i wouldn't stay here. You would think paying almost $1.8k to stay in hotel is top dollar when actual reality it is not. $1.8k gets you a stay in the Kona Tower with moldy bathrooms, stained floors, stained furniture, non smoke rooms that is filled with smoke smells and just a horrible smell in general. The pictures that you see online is for the Waikiki Tower aka "Better Side" not the Kona Towers! S/O to the maintenance guy for informing us that we were not staying in the "better side", not luxury area of the hotel. However, the front desk were accommodating and switched us from our first room that was not up to par to the next room, which unfortunately was only a few rooms down and was by far worst than the first room that was received. Made, best with what we had. But, i wouldn't recommend staying here unless you're paying $2.5k and above but the pictures are deceiving!

Yelp
I was booked to stay overnight at the Ala Moana Hotel by a company I work for, meals included, and I was really looking forward to it! On check-in, arriving at noon after a very long overnight flight from Australia, I was told my room would be ready at 3 pm. The receptionist handed me my meal vouchers and told me to go and have lunch... It was a disappointing welcome, so I sought out the DaDa Cafe that was listed on my $30 coupon and ordered $26 of food and a drink. With taxes, it was $32. I had no local currency, so i cancelled the drink.. I'd like to point out I couldn't order a main course as they were all priced over $30. I then waited another 2 and a half hours (I had hoped to go sightseeing at this stage) and got into my room in the Kona Tower at 3 pm. Yes, the room is pretty basic with a view of the multi-level carport next door. I finally freshened up and did a couple of hours seeing the sights before dinner. I was looking forward to dinner as the coupon said it was in the Signature Steak and Seafood Restaurant. I was given a dinner voucher for $42, but the cheapest main course was $47.95, so I was going to chip in some of my own money to get the full experience. However, on arrival at the restaurant the maitre de inspected my voucher, said it would really be about $36 after tips and taxes, and suggested I sit at the bar as "service would be quicker". I thanked her but explained I'd rather have a table (there were at least 12 empty tables). As she guided me to a table, she said, "If you like, you can get it to go and enjoy it in your room." She clearly did NOT want me in her restaurant. Suddenly, the allure was gone, so I ordered French onion soup, a Caesar salad, and a coke... all of which arrived on my table within 3 minutes. I ate as fast as I could and got out. THAT is what I will remember about my stay at the Ala Moana Hotel. I did contact the management through the Facebook page, but as of right now, they still haven't even opened my message. #alamoanahotel

Yelp
My family and I LOVED this hotel. Shout out to Sam and Paul at the front desk. We ran into a little bloop with housekeeping and Sam get Paul involved. We had our parking comped. This spoke volumes to us. They really cared about our stay. We come about 2 times a year and cannot wait to return.

Yelp
I stayed at the Ala Moana Hotel by Mantra while my house was being fumigated. The Kamaaina discount is available for locals with a local driver's license to verify. It's my second time staying here. The first time, I went to the Honolulu Marathon with a friend since Ala Moana is the starting point. I had no problems checking in. The customer service from the front end was warm and personal with aloha. I got to the parking garage early because I wanted to make sure I got a parking spot. The limited number of stalls might make it hard to find during busy times. My hotel reservation also included the parking fee. As with my first stay, my room was clean and organized. It was easy to control the temperature with the thermostat. I was not too fond that once the AC reached the temperature, it would idle and then come on again. There needed to be more consistency. Despite the lower setting, it stayed on all the time. TV channels were up to par, and with Spectrum services, I could watch some live Japanese television, which made me feel like I was back in Japan. There were also live Chinese and Korean television and other Asian channels. Despite its shortcomings, the bathroom was not without its moments. A standard set of towels was available. The package included drinking cups (glass), lotion, a shower cap, and a fash soap bar wash. There was some mold on the rocks/titles of the bathroom, and the metal that supports holding soap and stuff looked old and like it was rusting. They could clean with bleach soon or do a complete makeover. The shower pressure was soft/low, and calcium buildup was on the shower heads. The water temperature was adjusted by turning a dial from cold to hot. When switching to the shower setting, water still spews from the faucet for the tub. All in all, everything was okay. I enjoyed my shower with a limitless amount of hot water. Other than that, I am quite pleased with the price and accommodations during my stay. If the opportunity does soon again arise, I'll visit again.

Yelp
This review is for the Eco Living Store on the Lobby floor. TLDR; experienced racial discrimination, prices are expensive, customer service is manipulative. It's recommended to stay away from this store & shop somewhere else. While browsing, I noticed that the stuff I got from the swap meet were the same exact things they were selling at the store (SAME BRAND & FEEL/MATERIAL) & noticed the price difference. I then told my mom that I was relieved we got things at a better price elsewhere to which I then experienced racial profiling and discrimination by the lady working the floor saying that "Filipinos are very challenging" because she was trying to convince us that their items are "authentic." She then told us that she is Chinese, which was useless to announce?? Further elaborating by explaining that she has a coworker who is Filipino and talks so much, goes "blah blah blah" which was funny because she was doing most of the talking. In addition, the material in this store is ordinary and can be found at other retail stores, as well as the swap meet. The lady working the floor tried to gaslight the customers by persuading that her items are "authentic" and "cannot be found anywhere else." I tried to take a photo of one of the tops that was the SAME EXACT top I purchased for my husband at the swap meet for $15! However, I was forced to delete it due to a strict "no photos policy" that was not mentioned anywhere whatsoever, probably because she just made it up so I couldn't prove a point. There was another customer trying to purchase an overpriced dress so the lady tried to convince that it was unique & the best quality. Eventually saw the same customer wearing it outside the store, poor girl paid so much when she could have saved more. As a person who has worked in customer service for more than 10 years, there were definitely better ways to articulate a sales pitch for her "authentic" garbage. The lady working the counter had blonde hair that needs toner, excessive use of foundation that couldn't hide her hideous attitude, and a terrible mindset - so keep a watch out to avoid her and her service. Do not shop here! I recommend going to the swap meet at the Honolulu stadium or going to the second floor to access the Ala Moana Shopping Center for better service, prices, and overall quality of experience.
