Google
Small zoo that does not disappoint! Lots of really cool animals. Big Cats, alligators, lemurs, monkeys, giraffes, and much more It was very hot the day we visited but the experience was made better by misting sections and well air conditioned buildings for cooling off. The barn animals were cute and although the mining section wasn’t working that day; we were able to buy a bag and sorted through our gems at home. Which my kids liked doing it this way more than when we have done them at other zoos before! We got the big bag, and there is SO MUCH included in it! We ended it with my 15 year old taking a ride on the zip line ride thing. It was $15 and he said it was really cool at the top to be able to see the entire zoo and town too. The gift shop seemed pretty reasonable priced to other gift shops. they had some really funny shirts and lots of items to choose from. I would recommend them getting a better variety of magnets but other than that, 10 out of 10!

Google
There weren’t any clear signs directing visitors to the different buildings, like the reptile house or bird area, which made it a bit confusing to know where to go. Some of the exhibits were also under construction. We did visit on a colder day, so several of the animals weren’t out, but overall it was still a fun experience! Two of the seniors in our group rented scooters — they were $20 each, very fast, and had great brakes, which made it easier for them to get around comfortably. We also did the Sloth Encounter — while we didn’t get to pet the sloth, we really enjoyed meeting Archie the armadillo! He was absolutely hilarious and ended up being my favorite animal there.

Google
This is a nice zoo, but it is small. We walked it in less than an hour. It is also laid out very confusing. It has paths to walk that do not go straight to the exhibits. I enjoyed the animals they had. They seemed to have good habitats and exhibits. They had other rides that were nice, like a merry go round and a zip line ride. We had fun and would probably come back.

Google
Fun day at this zoo. Arrived early and got to see morning feedings. I especially loved the giraffes and lions. Gift shop employees were very friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of parking as well .

Google
Absolutely amazing, just as I had hoped it would be. It was 91 out we went 9/21/25 and most animals were nowhere to be found. Then I decided to go backwards and see if anything came out. I'm glad I did we saw both lions, both porcupine and even Benjamin was walking towards us. Such a great little zoo. I used to watch the show Little Zoo that could I believe. Just amazing great work yall! And Miss Patti (caretaker who was director during the show and hurricanes) Thank you for saving these animals.

Sarah P.

Google
This is a wonderful zoo! Somewhat smaller than some of the zoos in larger metropolitan areas, this quiet zoo was a perfect place to take our young kiddos for a more intimate and leisurely experience with the animals! The staff was also super friendly, and there were plenty of restrooms and places to hydrate scattered throughout the zoo. In addition to being stroller friendly, there were mist hoses (a wonderful way to provide visitors a break from the heat), playgrounds, and benches at all the major exhibits. We can’t wait to return!

Google
Wonderful, if relatively small, zoo. I grew up visiting it in its previous Gulf Shores location; this is a massive improvement! We visited with a 2.5 year old, a 1 year old, and an 8 month old. We went right at open, and I would definitely recommend doing that, both for heat and smaller crowds. The keepers were very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed speaking with several of them. There are several extra activities for younger kids: a carousel, animal feeding, a small train, "mining," and safari carts. For older kids or adults, there are several animal encounters that require reservations, so plan ahead for any extras you want to do.

Jessica P.

Google
It was very expensive, for a regular, nothing special zoo. We paid $25/ each person extra, just to see a couple sloths not really do anything, and you can see them from outside their living area for free. If I'd known this we wouldn't have paid extra. The animals looked hot and miserable, and most are hiding to try and stay cool.

Yelp
What once may have been a beautiful facility is now sad and run down. The grounds are grossly unkept and the animal habitats were tragic. The experience was depressing. I felt terribly bad for the animals... and terrible for those trying to keep this zoo afloat. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
google avatar

Darius T.

Yelp
The AGCZ was pleasant and overall nice for the family experience. However, not sure if all the animals were available or resting but there were no-shows. For my zoo visiting experience, I would have liked a little more interaction and guidance at certain places/exhibits. But I'm certainly not sure of the possibilities of that based on park procedures. I visited off season so I will make a note to visit during the peak times. However, if you in the area, don't hesitate to stop by and enjoy some of the featured wildlife.

Lori R.

Yelp
We felt admission was highly overpriced for the small size of the zoo. We did not see all the animals as they looked hot, although enough to call it a zoo experience. It lacks adequate shade areas although there is one spray area to cool off. What is missing from it's small size is any interactive activities for children. There is no petting zoo and touching the animals behind the fence wasn't easy. Our biggest regret was paying for my grandson to drive the "old timey cars" that went around a circle that took less than 2 minutes to complete for a whopping price of 20.00. for four of us to ride. We love animals but this place needs an upgrade. Not the highlight of our trip we hoped.

Yelp
Went to this zoo with my sister and my niece. It is not a big zoo, but it is a cute spot to spend the afternoon. I think that my favorite exhibit was the butterfly house, most interesting. If you are looking for a huge zoo with tons of activities this is not the zoo for you. If you are looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon, then stop by and check them out.

Marlene A.

Yelp
All I can say is wow. We came many years ago to the old one. Was super excited to come back to the new location. Very disappointed!!! The animals were not out or no animals at all . For the price you pay not worth it. Very sad and disappointed. Carousel was broke and employees did not seem happy to be at work. Not one person greeted us coming or going. Hope they can change things for the future guest..

Yelp
We were visiting some family this week (January 2024) and decided to go check out the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. It's just a few miles north of Gulf Shores, or about an hour from Mobile. This isn't a huge zoo, but it is a great size if you have little kids. There are wide paved paths, very easy to push a stroller or wheelchair on. The zoo map is available via QR code, with signs posted around the zoo. You can bring in your own food and enjoy it at one of the many picnic tables around the zoo, or purchase snacks at some of the vending machines. Lots of clean bathrooms throughout, although I did not notice any family bathrooms or handicap accessibility door opener buttons. We went during a nice January day and were very comfortable, however there was no shade so I imagine it could be quite miserable during the crowded, hot, and humid summer months. The zoo has lions, giraffes, lemurs (so many lemurs), a huge alligator, snakes, camels, macaws, monkeys, ostriches, etc...as well as a reptile house. Enough of a variety to fill an hour or two and keep the family entertained. If you want more interaction with the animals, there are animal encounters you can purchase with lemurs, the sloth, the giraffe, and a few others. There are two playground structures for kids to climb and slide down when they need a break. You can also purchase animal feed for the goats and tickets for the carousel or train. The favorite activity from my crew though: mining for gems! (Cost varies depending on the size bag you purchase)

Yelp
This is a great place for the area. This was our daughter's first time at a zoo and she loved it. They had a wide variety of animals for a smaller zoo. They have several interactive exhibits including feeding the giraffes and a petting zoo. My daughter enjoyed the carousel and train ride as well. The carousel, train, soaring eagle, and giraffe feeding are all at additional cost. We will be back when we visit the area.
google avatar

Dakota L.

Yelp
Nice zoo for first timers! Affordable tickets and they offer military discounts! My favorites were the giraffe, parrots, monkeys and the pigs. I highly recommend this zoo!
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
Extremely fun place to go for a couple of hours with your family! We definitely enjoyed our time at the Zoo. We personally liked that it was smaller. Some zoos, you walk around all day and you haven't explored the whole place. We bought additional tickets to feed the giraffes and play with lemurs! We honestly couldn't pass the opportunity up! We loved it and it will be a memory for a lifetime! The staff that we interacted with sweet and hilarious! My reason for the four stars...please get rid of the car entertainment. My whole group hated that. They were obnoxious and I feel like the animals hated it. It made my heart hurt. Maybe that was just us. I'm sure it brings in extra revenue, but at the end of the day...
google avatar

Jasmine O.

Yelp
Very expensive. Be prepared to drop some money if you have little ones. Good variety of animals to see, but honestly, not worth the price. We knocked out everything in about 2/ 2.5 hours. Our favorite part was feeding the giraffe. It's VERY quick, and you only get a few strips of greenery for one take from the giraffe. My little one really enjoyed it so yay for that. Girls at the front desk were great and super friendly. Overall, it was fine but definitely not great. Not a zoo we'd revisit.
google avatar

Kryss P.

Yelp
Fun experience for the family! $25 to get in per person, great food. Kids had fun and you can pay to feed certain animals.
google avatar

Madison J.

Yelp
I understand that they are trying to take care of a lot of animals. But in the majority of animals had no shade, the water that was available was a really dark green. The Timber Wolf that was there barely had any shade and no water. All of the animals were hiding from the sun which is understandable because it was 91 degrees when we went. But they were hiding in the buildings.

Caryn J.

Yelp
Such a cute zoo. The kids loved it and it was easy to navigate. Little hidden gem. Staff is super friendly too.
google avatar

Jenn F.

Yelp
Room for improvement, which you can see they are building towards. I would give it a higher review if the cost wasn't so much. I've been to bigger, nicer zoos for less money than we spent here. I realize they need money to make the zoo better, but even a few dollars less per person would make a big difference and probably draw more people in. My kids favorite (mine too) was the alligator. That sucker was huge!!
google avatar

Reba G.

Yelp
This zoo is smaller, and it wasn't packed at all for a weekend. It was like hot outside , so that may have had impacted the day. Most of the animals weren't there to see, but we got to see a few. I don't know that we will revisit but maybe on a cooler day.

Emily O.

Yelp
Really sad. A lot of the animals are supposed to be in packs and there is only one. Also there is more space in the parking lot than the whole zoo. Animals are given really small living quarters, especially the big ones. They all look depressed. Also half the animals you can't see unless you pay an extra $25 after the $25 entrance fee.
google avatar

Reena G.

Yelp
The zoo is really tiny and very expensive per person. You have to pay extra if you want to feed the giraffes. This location was not busy at all but we did come on a very hot day. We saw few animals as the others were hiding in the shade because it was so hot.
google avatar

Jocelyn G.

Yelp
Loved this zoo! We went and it was super hot but we knew that anyway. The animals all looked well taken care of and had good water holes to cool off. This place looks fairly new and very clean and nice. A lot of things were not open to use maybe because of the day or time of year. I would def come back in cooler weather again. I don't know what people expect but I've been to many zoos and animals are almost always at rest. If you want to see action go see a show or when they are feeding them. The gift area was nice also and the prices were good on most everything. Definetly feed the giraffe Ben if you can! The staff all were super nice too!

Lori M.

Yelp
Was at the zoo on saturday march 1 with my 4 gkids. It was $93 for them and myself. we we there for maybe an hr. Very disappointed. no bears, no tigers, cheetas weren't out, that poor gator lives in less than a ft. of water, the grounds were unkept. we felt like it was a waste of our time and money. will not go back. Wished we would have spent our money elsewhere.
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
I am a frequent visitor of zoos whenever I travel, and I can say I was very impressed. This zoo is small but has incredible amenities and exhibits, particularly for it's size. I was shocked at how fewer visitors were in the zoo in this a crowded tourist area. I think of more people visited, thereby giving the zoo greater support, I think this zoo would be even better. The interactive experiences are well worth the money. I loved the lemurs and being able to interact with them. They were so soft and sweet such a joy.
google avatar

Mckenna C.

Yelp
If you enjoy going to the zoo, I would suggest going! As other reviews say, it will only take you about 2 hours max...but it's fun & they have some great animals to see. They have 2 playgrounds, a carousel, and a gift shop.
google avatar

Brannon B.

Yelp
Been wanting to check out the Gulf Shores zoo for a while. Got to check it out on a field trip. It did not disappoint. The facility is really clean and the animals look healthy. They had a sloth and it was actually moving back and forth on a rope. They had monkeys, alligators, lions, and giraffes. I was told there were snakes after we had left, but I didn't see them. They had play grounds that your children could play on. They also had a carousel. There was a truck that snow cones and a restaurant on site (Safari Club). Can't recommend the the restaurant because we didn't eat there, but it looked nice. I think they need a little more parking areas, because when there is an event, they run out. People were parked everywhere...on the sides of the curbs and on the grass. The souvenir shop was really nice, and I thought the prices were fair. So, if your down visiting and are looking for something to do, go check it out.

Yelp
We went here while in town for a mini getaway. First off it's very affordable. Only $20 PP for an adult. Little one was free. Women at front was pleasant and nice. This is a smaller zoo but has a lot of animals. Everything from tigers and camels and monkeys etc... we were very very happy with the experience and would 100% come back and suggest it to others. There are also many experiences you can pay extra to do. - feee the giraffes, sloth experience, lemur, etc... There's also a great playground around. All and all great spot!!!

Yelp
We absolutely loved our time at The Little Zoo That Could. The grounds are beautiful. Everything is sparkling clean (including the restrooms). The enclosures are clean, offer lots of shade, are spacious and have lots of enrichment activities/toys/treats for the animals to enjoy. For the price of admission ($20 for adults, and $17 for military/seniors) its a great activity for the family. All of the animal encounters were an additional $20 after the purchase of admission. They allowed us to bring in our own water bottles, which we really appreciated in this heat. Everyone from the girls working the register to the handlers out and about were exceptionally nice and knowledgeable about the animals. The gift shop has a lot of great items for reasonable prices and offer certain items that benefit the zoo/help care for the animals. Each enclosure told about the animal inside and included little bits of info about the resident (name, where they came from, etc.). Love love love this place!
google avatar

Emma R.

Yelp
The zoo was a fun small day trip! My partner and I were able to walk the whole zoo in less than an hour but was very humid and hot so most of the animals were just laying down or hiding. The gift shop had a few fun things but not a large selection. For the price of $22.95 was a bit much for the time we spent. It came out to $50.40? Something like that for less about an hour. We decided to do the lemur encounter and we had a lot of fun! It was 24.95/pp but was fun! We wanted to do the kangaroo interaction but was informed that was more for educational purposes and if we wanted more interaction to do the lemurs. So glad we did. At first they were shy but then they got active and climbed all over us and licked us. We got to pet them and take plenty of pictures that was well worth the money.

Don P.

Yelp
It's a decent zoo but nothing special. It's laid out a little odd, you end up backtracking several times to see everything. They need to mark exhibits that are empty so you don't spend time looking for something that isn't there.

Mandi S.

Yelp
Cute little zoo with room for improvement. Been to much bigger zoos for cheaper, but if you need something to do in the area it's not a bad option! The sloth "encounter" wasn't really worth the money, you could pretty much stand at the fence and hear everything the guide said. You might get to pet a sloth, you might not. This is absolutely fine so participants don't make the sloths uncomfortable, but for the money, there are better options. The lemur encounter was much better! You get to go into the enclosure with the lemurs jumping around, feed and pet them. There is a free petting zoo section that you can walk through and pet the farm animals. Overall not a bad experience. You could expect to spend at least 3 hours at this little zoo.

Travis B.

Yelp
We went early to beat the heat, but they didn't have a lot of the animals out yet. They were still cleaning cages and mowing enclosures. Also, the lemur experience has changed dramatically and you are only in the enclosure for about 7 minutes ($25/person). You feed them with tongs and that's about it.
google avatar

Jacob P.

Yelp
This zoo is a fun small zoo that can take up about 1-2 hours of your time. There are decent options to view which include lemurs and other small primates, birds, reptiles, gators, giraffes and more. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. So why only 3 stars? I took off two stars because of the size and layout of the zoo. In a zoo this small layout and space utilization is crucial. The layout didn't seem to utilize all of its space to the fullest potential. They also used a lot of space for farm animals like goats sheep and a donkey. These animals deserve love too but it seems like a waste of space for a zoo. Furthermore the flowerbeds were over grown with weed grass and the landscaping was barely attended to other than mowing. The biggest reason I took away two stars is because the pricing is high. There is a 20$ admission fee then there are 4-5 activities inside that cost an additional 20$ if you chose to participate. So if you were to participate in all the activities your 20$ per person could quickly become 100$ per person. I didn't ask where this money goes. If a reasonable portion of it goes into conservation efforts I would consider giving them the fourth star.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Very small zoo for the cost. The sloth encounter cost $25 and you can't even touch them. You just stand closer... The joey encounter was good, everyone was able to pet them on the back. We finished the zoo with a party of (8) in about two-hours with (2) fifteen-minute encounters.
google avatar

Deanna J.

Yelp
I loved the old zoo even though it was a little over priced. There was a lot of hype around the new zoo and I know a ton of money was raised and spent, this is my review: 1. It's terribly over priced for what it has to offer 2. All the money that was spent building it was to create more ways to get in your pocket. There is food and alcohol over priced and then the safari cars are $6 per person for a 100 yard ride around a building. Don't waste your money. 3. Safari restaurant has ok food that is over priced as well. There is better food with way better view for less money all over the gulf coast. 4. The cages aren't much better than the old zoo. Not much effort was put in there 5. It's a 1 hr visit zoo. You can see everything in 30 minutes, hardly any animals There are a lot of things to do in the area. The zoo had an opportunity to do something great that people would want to go too, this isn't it unfortunately. We were so looking forward to the new zoo and we're terribly disappointed. I won't take anyone there again.
google avatar

Alissa M.

Yelp
The zoo staff does not tell you that the whole zoo closes for lunch. This is possibly because of staffing issues; however, it would be nice to know this right off so we could plan our trip. Even the snow cone places close down. EVERYTHING. Another thing that the staff does not tell you is that there are animal time slots instead of 10:30-3:30. They do at least tell you that your tickets are good all day. Please know that there is very limited shade and it is very very hot on a summer day. It was nice to see the animals and had a few that I had not seen before. Would I come back??? Possibly, now that I have learned by experience. I would much rather go to the gulf breeze zoo about an hour away. The best zoo.

Yelp
My family was very disappointed with our trip to this "zoo". We decided to go on a Wednesday, expecting it to be not as busy as the weekend. Upon arriving, there were four school buses and a tour bus and the parking lot was so full that people were pouring in from neighboring parking lots. Our kids had been looking forward to this zoo since we began planning our vacation from Michigan weeks ago. So, we trudged in, paid the $58 admittance fee (3 adults, 2 children, and 2 cups of animal feed), and went through the tiny gift shop which had five million people in it to get into the zoo. Outside, I was immediately disappointed with the size of the zoo itself. Back home, we have a small children's zoo that is easily double this size. While we did see some cool animals, and enjoyed spending time watching the monkeys, we were overwhelmingly displeased by the size of the animal enclosures. The biggest enclosures belonged to the donkeys and goats. I feel terrible for the tigers, lions, and wolves. Surely there's somewhere else they go after hours to run and play, right? I'm just going to convince myself of that. Many animals were pacing back and forth, endlessly looking for a route of escape. The tigers had only a platform to lay on, and nothing to entertain them. There were monkeys in cages with hardly any room to swing around. The reptile exhibit was the worst experience - imagine a tiny, hot, dark building with no airflow and five thousand people trying to push through in a single file line... all the while, ruthless children yelling, screaming, and crying, and entire families trying to go against the flow of traffic causing traffic jams around the corners. I'm lucky my husband, who doesn't deal well with crowds, was not with me for this part of the experience! I've never been to a zoo that lets you have animal encounters for a reasonable price and I was beyond excited to get inside the enclosure with the lemurs. To my dismay, we arrived at the lemur encounter at the end of our visit only to find a sign that said they were closed for an hour and a half for lunch. At that point, we decided to try the reptile exhibit for my son, who was beyond excited to hold an alligator.

Nicole B.

Yelp
I thought it was a little pricey for the size. Gift shop was not crazy high prices. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. It seemed like they really cares about the animals when we watched interactions. I'm not sure how old the zoo is, but I'd guess it's been around awhile and it could use a little bit of upgrading. Overall, I wish I had researched better. My son was pretty devastated to learn the tigers passed away last year by reading the sign on the exhibit.

Yelp
Major oversite on my part for not having already reviewed the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. It is a treat. First of all use 20499 Oak Road E. for directions. Our GPS took us to the old location so be aware this is a new location built from the ground up with the animals health and safety plus conservation in the forefront. We were able to tour the zoo prior to its opening with one of the contractors building enclosures. Seeing it after completion we were really impressed with how much detail has been put into the property. There is a very wide range of animals. We arrived early and basically followed one of the zoo keepers on his rounds. While he was feeding and cleaning enclosures he gave us so much background information no only on each species but also on each individual animal he cares for daily. When he got near the animals were so happy and not just for breakfast. They interacted with their handler. It was obvious they are socialized and cherished. I have never seen porcupines so happy to see their person! This zoo is very walkable. There is so much shade and so many areas to stop, sit, reflect. The zoo is also very assessible. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo has a beautiful gift shop with everything you can imagine relating to their animals. There is a delicious restaurant on the property. The Safari Club has a full range of delicious food with a beautiful deck to allow outdoor enjoyment of the beautiful space. Highly recommend. We plan to visit again and again.

Yelp
This is such a gross sad place, all the animals seem to be in really bad conditions, this place is way to expensive for what the offer, the people working there also seem to have no knowledge on what they are doing, I don't recommend this place, save your money and watch animal planet, you will get more action and excitement than this place.

Kathryn W.

Yelp
The new zoo is so clean and beautiful! Staff is extremely friendly except for the guy running the lemur encounter, I think his name is Tim. Extremely rude for no reason.

Yelp
We're down here for vacation and wanted a break from the beach, so I saw a pamphlet for here at the condos and came by! It was super hot today, the area is under an excessive heat advisory so a lot of the animals were pretty lazy. I loved seeing the big cats and monkeys, and there was really cold AC in the reptile house. If you're expecting a butterfly garden, don't get your hopes up because it's just an exhibit of pinned butterflies. Also, I don't recommend looking on the website to see what animals they have because we found out it's not up to date. We were really excited to see opossums and ferrets because those are our favorite animals, and it showed them on the website..but once we got there we found out there are none. Besides the website being out of date and off by quite a bit, it was a good experience even in the heat!

Yelp
IGNORE THE PRE-2020 REVIEWS!! This is an all new zoo that just opened in 2020 at an all new location & is a very well planned and executed zoo experience! These folks have a rich history as zookeepers, and I love history. There's date back to the original opening in June 1989 in Gulf Shores. Back then entrepreneur Joey Ward built a small, community zoo on a family-owned parcel of land in the heart of town, a mile from the beach. Zooland Animal Park became home to a collection of tropical birds, snakes, big cats and other exotic wildlife, run by a small staff of zookeepers. In 1995 Alabama transplant Patti Hall joined the zoo as a become volunteer. Her passion for animals and professional credentials in management, administration, education and public communications puts her on a path that dramatically changed the zoo's fate forever. In 1997 Joey Ward and the Zoo Board of Directors asks Patti Hall to take over as Zoo Director. 1999 Patti hires Cyndi Johnson as Head Zookeeper who will later become the zoo's Curator. In 2000 Patti and the Board decide to rename the zoo to bring more credibility and prestige to the organization. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo was officially born. In 2004 the zoo had its best year ever but there was big trouble brewing when on Sep 13th the news was of hurricane Ivan headed straight for Gulf Shores. A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for thousands of residents. But what about hundreds of zoo animals? No US zoo has ever been completely evacuated for a natural disaster, until the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Over 36 hours, Patti and her staff pack up over 265 animals and transport them 20 miles inland to her home and property where they, her staff's families, and their pets, all hunker down. On Sept 16th the zoo was completely destroyed & under 14' of water. After days of 90° heat, no power & limited supplie, not one animal life was lost in the transport or during the relocation, and no zookeeper has been injured, except for Patti who received a monkey bite on her finger. Word got around and a 13-episode TV series was developed and sold to Animal Planet to bring this heroic and touching tale to a global broadcast audience. Several years later Animal-lovers Clyde Weir and his daughter Andrea who had been deeply touched by The Little Zoo TV series & decided to help in a big way. They stunned Patti with a gift to the zoo of 25 acres of prime Gulf Shores real estate located four miles off the island. There were many challenges for a small non-profit to put together a mulit-million dollar facility but they eventually made it happen with a grand opening in March 2020 to the current zoo's new home home from a spot a few blocks off the beach to one well north of the Intracoastal Waterway. This is the first ZAA-accredited U.S. zoo to be built from the ground up in more than 20 years. The 25-acre zoo not only provides a more spacious modern haven for the beloved animals, but also includes: theme-park family entertainment, fun animal encounters, interactive animal shows, and giraffe & kangaroo feeding stations. This new zoo boasts nearly 500 animals, 118 species, 22 critically endangered, endangered, vulnerable or near threatened species. It's spacious, well landscaped & maintained with shade trees & benches throughout. We walked around the whole zoo in about 90 minutes stopping to feed Benjamin the giraffe and my honey waited for me & #1 son to check out the reptile house. (she doesn't like snakes) While I've been to some bug zoo's, like DC & San Diego, this one is not huge but it's very impressive for a small beach town & just keeps getting better. Here's the deets: They're open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $19.95 for adults (ages 13-54), $16.95 for seniors 55 and up and for veterans & military personnel, and $14.95 for children ages 3-12. Also on the property is The Safari Club & it's a very good restaurant with a full-service bar and is the first "green certified" restaurant in the state of Alabama. For more on the restaurant see my review of the Safari Club Gulf Shores at: https://yelp.to/rRNn09CgBcb Bottom line: This is a great place for kids young & old and I highly recommend this family green zoo to one and all!!

Yelp
This zoo is small but mighty. There is a large variety of animals. The sloth experience and lemur experience were so much fun! Go check it out :)

Yelp
This is a tiny but cute zoo that small children would enjoy. It takes about 30-40 minutes to see everything. Not a lot of animals, but everything was clean and they looked very healthy and well cared for. There's a small zipline, some carts to ride in on a short track, and some things to climb and swing on. Not much in the way of treats and vending, but appropriate for the size. There is however a restaurant that has very good food. We were impressed by the quality of everything we ordered. They have a nice little gift shop too. They are very Covid conscious, but not all patrons were. Luckily, we weren't sharing the park with many people on our Sunday afternoon visit.

Yelp
Save your money. This is zoo seems to be more of a retired zoo. There are zoo animals that you think of as being in a zoo, but more maintained like a farm. It is way too expensive for a family for what you get from this zoos experience! For example, after paying the expensive price to get in, it is still five dollars per person to give the giraffe some feed. The workers are friendly.

Yelp
All of the charm of the little zoo that could is gone. Sadly our yearly tradition of 15 years is ending. No more will you be able to feed the scrambling goats little pellets (now it's a handful of hay and 3-4 goats in a barn. Bird house is completely gone. No more lemur interactions. The zoo seems to have halved the amount of animals and the ones that remain are behind two layers of fencing that is very difficult to see through. They tripled and quadrupled he priced as well. Used to be 5 for kangaroos. Now it's 20. Used to be 7 for sloths now it's 20. Etc. Used to be 5 for reptiles (gone completely ). It's a shell of its former self. Cost us 70 dollars to walk in the door (2 adults and 1 kid). Walked the entire place in 45 minutes and saw maybe a dozen animals. I'm heart broken. The gift shop was awesome though.

Yelp
I was so surprised by this zoo. I had very low expectations and it turned out to be much better than any of the big zoos that I have been to. These animals are so well loved and all of their enclosures and habitats were so clean. All of the animals were active and so fun to watch and play with. I couldn't believe the wide variety of animals that they had there. They had a big black bear, a lion and lioness, numerous tigers, a big alligator, a large aviary that you can walk in and numerous exotic birds all around the property, there is a large variety of reptiles, sloths, ferrets, goats, sheep, deer, giant turtles, all different kinds of monkeys and baboons, a beautiful black leopard, bobcats and other types of cats and many more animals that I can't think of now. You must pay the extra money for the LEMUR EXPERIENCE!! It was amazing!! They are so friendly and fun! I will definitely go back.

Yelp
If you try to search for this location on your phone, it may send you to the old location and not the new location. If the pictures look like the place I went, you are at the old location. Apparently, the new location is down the road. DOUBLE CHECK THE ADDRESS. I will have to check out this mysterious zoo in the future.

Yelp
I reached out to staff and did not got any response , so just makes this experience that much more unenjoyable. Not very pleased with our visit. Paid $60, which is a lttle steep and rides were closed. Yet the safari ride had one employee sitting in the little car with his feet propped up on the seat in front of him, while 5 other employees stood around, no masks talking and playing on their phones. The safari food truck by the Pepsi umbrellas had an employees going out to smoke his vape and not washing his hands between customers or vaping. Drove down here from Missouri to spend a weekend. For the price, and lack of interaction and nonsanitary practices from your own staff, we will not be returning. Very disappointing to pay what we did for the type of visit this was. Avoid going here until they are able to get it together.

Yelp
Thought was gonna be a fun time with family but quickly turned miserable. My family and the animals most importantly. they CANNOT deal with this summer heat. They cannot! The poor giraffes had no trees in their exhibit. they need trees. Since no trees had this very very tiny tarp hanging up. Other giraffe had to stand under a very small shade spot because that one was so small. The poor ostrich..looked so malnourished and his wings were dropping down into the grass. They all looked so overheated and malnourished. The lions and tiger were all panting, in again very small shade spot they had. Water bowl is out in the sun so they get water but they get scorching hot water. What's that about? Horrible living environment for these poor animals. Such small exhibits and cages. It's terrible to see. i just felt a wave of sadness for these poor animals. They need to get transferred.

Yelp
Very beautiful entrance. Very beautiful parking lot. Clean and nice. Price for this zoo is TOO HIGH! It was $100 for me and my husband and my, 3,9, and 12 yo. It's full of concrete, there isn't a lot of shade. There really isn't a lot of animals. It takes roughly an 1.5 hours to go through it. They have a really nice play ground for the younger kids, but it's in the bald sun and my kids couldn't play on it because it would burn them! The gift shop was very nice. We were on vacation. We are zoo lovers and support zoos, but we will not be back to this one!

Yelp
So fun! Randomly stopped by and glad we did! All of the animals were out and the staff was very friendly.
