Personally loved this place. They had a great band on and served lovely cocktails. I just wish they had a bigger range of whiskeys.

Very cool bar with a lot of character and good cocktails! Live country band and good food, from memory they serve free peanuts with each order too 🥜

I had high hopes for my visit, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. We arrived to a lovely atmosphere, only to be met by a rude and out-of-order bouncer who immediately questioned us about how much we had to drink, despite the fact that we didnt drink at all! His condescending remarks, like “don’t drink too much,” were not only unnecessary but downright insulting. Having just spent $100 on 4 drinks for my friends, things took a turn for the worse when, while we were quietly enjoying the music, the same bouncer approached me and had the audacity to accuse us of being intoxicated after just one drink. We were completely sober and just trying to have a good time! It was infuriating to be treated like that. The cocktail maker was fantastic, and the venue itself is beautiful, but the obnoxious and unprofessional behavior of the security staff ruined the entire experience. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and it’s clear we won’t be returning. Forgive me for ordering an alcoholic drink at a cocktail bar. How rude of me.

Awesome Live music on a Thursday night. Delicious burger (at half price on Thursdays!) and great cocktails. Service was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a hidden gem worth visiting.

Depends on what you are into. Very American kitsch but not for me. The retro music was the not so great stuff my parents used to make me listen to, it's a bit dirty, dark and noisy - and there's no ingredients on the cocktail list so it's 20-25 bucks to find out. Also due to its speak easy style entrance it's not easy to navigate to if you get separated from your group at the Portuguese Tart shop. Maybe for the 18-25 age bracket but I like nicer things.

As a lone traveler from the states i had a great time here! They had line dancing lessons when i came in and a live band after. Ended up meeting some cool strangers and sharing a table with them. Definitely a must go if visiting Perth!

Absolutely the pinnacle of what it means to be an American bar. Whisky selection is incredible. Cocktails are filled with extra details which make it unique and special. Do they need to have a special whisky blend with their whisky sours? No, but hell yeah it makes it a special drink. Do they need to add a marshmallow? No, but hell yeah it makes it memorable. Sazerac was made incredibly well, service was unparalleled. Staff actually cared about working there, and they had full control of the music selection which added some humour which was very much appreciated. Staff were friendly without being overbearing. Plenty of seating, atmosphere was fun even during the quiet moments. Honestly, in terms of venues in Perth if you have any interest in Americana culture, this is an absolute must visit.

Yelp
Damn if you want some whiskey or just a good time, this place is hopping! Bartenders know their stuff. Prices are high but you will get an amazing American whiskey selection and fun atmosphere. Live music makes you feet like you are in Alabama! They have some great cocktails too. Definitely coming back here!

Yelp
Alabama Song is a one of those cool bars we've needed in Perth for years. Not massive and sprawling, but nice and cosy. Paid a visit with a few mates where we just wanted to each fried chicken and sip bourbon and beer, and this place was perfect. The atmosphere is great. Looks like it's been there forever, and really well lived in. The staff were all friendly, and the food and beverages went down a treat.

Yelp
What a super brilliant bar. It's old rough red neck bluegrass Americana themed and it was brill. Everything in here was well decorated and had a gen -u-wine feeling about it. The atmosphere was buzzing and I was drawn into the music with the 2 man band playing behind the chicken wire. Just like the Blues Brothers movie when they sing rawhide. My friend Leanne and I decided to be barflys and the service was fantastic. The hipster bartenders were very attentive and served a good drink. They were also great with their suggestions. Definitely would recommend this place and will be coming back.

Yelp
Visiting for the first time tonight with two friends and ordering a small can of Coors each, we stood at the bar having a quiet conversation. After ten or so minutes, one mate walked off to the bathroom and soon after a woman with a camera walked up to the bar right next to us and started taking pictures of a freshly poured drink with what was clearly a reasonably expensive camera. I realised it was a staged promotional photo, but my friend quietly asked her what lens she was using. The woman behind the bar in a black hat told him obnoxiously to "fuck off"; he said nothing in response and we went back to our conversation. Around two minutes later a bouncer in Halloween attire approached us and said the manager had insisted we needed to leave as we were "behaving poorly" and had "created a scene". The absurdity of this situation was highlighted by the total strangers around us who tried to reason with the guard on our behalf that we had done nothing wrong - at my request they dropped the issue and walked away, as I didn't want to create a scene. To his credit the guard was very reasonable and discussed the matter politely, but said ultimately the manager had demanded that we leave and he had to follow her directions, so we left quietly. I did ask if it were possible to speak to the manager concerned but they refused, so I went next door to Mechanics and enjoyed another couple of quiet drinks without any issue whatsoever - interestingly in conversations with the bar staff there they advised they'd heard similar stories repeatedly about this female manager at Alabama. I am the landlord of around four hundred commercial businesses' including a number of licensed establishments, and haven't ever been asked to leave any bar in the 20 years I've been able to attend them. I look forward to hearing back from your licensee if you would like to discuss this further.

Yelp
I headed to Alabama Song on its opening weekend. If you're not sure where it is, it's the other open door in the alleyway near Mechanics (it's the old Bar Open) and instead of heading in on the ground level, head up the stairs on the left. The interior is Southern American themed, with taxidermied animal heads on the wall and very dimly lit leather booths. The staff are very friendly, no sombre hipsters looking down their nose at you here, with a bowl of peanuts on arrival. The menu is mainly all about whiskey. I tried one of their whiskey negronis, it was great. Another American themed bar to add to your late night cocktail bar crawl.

Yelp
Loved this bar so quirky and really friendly service, also did some great unique cocktails liked the western sort of decor

Yelp
What a little hidden gem of a bar. Located in the same alleyway as the Mechanics Institute this little gold nugget is a Deep South slash Old West themed bar. No queues to get in bouncers and bar staff were very friendly and the drinks were good. loved the fact that Dolly's Jolene was playing as well. If in Nbridge make sure you pop in for some good ol times! Yeerhah!

Yelp
Wonderfully dive-y whiskey bar with an impressive collection of American Bourbons. Wonderful, lively vibe (caution - the music's a bit on the loud side) and open late. Map location had this on William, but the entrance is actually in the alley one block east. Went with a large group and had a ball!

Yelp
Yep, this is my kinda place. Been here a few times now and have to say, it comes very close to a good old honky tonk bar back in the states. The owner has done a great job with decor and music selections. The very first time I came I immediately thought it was very much like Sneaky Tony's as far as decor was concerned, not surprising seeing as it's run by the same people however I think Alabama Song feels a little more laid back. Also not quite as dark inside. Love the booths to sit at and the stage ready for a good rockabilly/honky tonk band, complete with the old chicken wire fencing to ward off those stray beer bottles ha! They have an extensive range of American whisky and scotch and some decent beer on tap, though like any new hip bar in town the prices are a little brow raising. I have to say, every time I've ordered the same beer, it's been a different price.... And on the note of price and payment, they still don't seem to have their eftpos machine up and running which is a bit annoying having to run down and get cash out from downstairs. But everything else makes up for it... Including the handsome and very friendly young bartenders behind the bar. Always smiling and ready to help. Most surely this will be mine and my friends new hang spot.

Yelp
They describe this as a "dive bar" but the American dive bars I've been to don't have swanky looking leather booths! But Alabama Song is a nice dark bar that does good whiskey based cocktails. The bartenders are friendly and put a lot of effort into their creations! The crowd is a bit older (25-35). I hear the honky tonk band they have is good but I'm yet to be there for it.

Yelp
Awesome place with a great vibe. The bar staff were friendly as were the patrons on a Friday night. Fun cocktails and nice range of options. Fantastic decor, it really makes you feel like you just walked into a saloon. Will be going back :-)

Yelp
Will not go back after the appalling treatment I received last night. My group of friends and I decided to get a drink after dinner we were sitting upstairs listening to the great band play when the lady manger walked by, I simply asked her if they had any other snacks other than peanuts (would of bought something off the menu if it was offered) as I am allergic which I politely explained. She turned around and rudely said " No! You've come to the wrong place" and walked off. My friends and I were so shocked, but we did not react to her rudeness. Shortly after the lovely female security guard came up to me asking me to leave as they believed I was very intoxicated... my friends and I only had 1.5 glasses of champagne each which we had bought from the bar. I explained to her that I was not intoxicated and simply just asking for an alternative snack as we couldn't see a menu but they kept bringing around peanuts. I then asked if I could speak to the manager and make a complaint which they told me definitely that was possible but I would have to wait outside for someone to come down with a form. The bouncer at the door then laughed at me and told me they would of said that to get me to leave and there was no complaint form on it's way. So by the end of all this I felt humiliated and tricked and discriminated against for simply having a nut allergy. This ruined our groups night as we were celebrating our friend being accepted into a scholarship program overseas and that was her favourite bar. Not anymore. Never again. I am exploring other avenues available to take further action against this discrimination.
