Alam Indah Ubud

We loved our time at Alam Indah! It is a very special place. The hotel is elegant with beautiful Balinese art. All of the staff are incredibly kind and thoughtful. The gardens are lovely and the location is so quiet. It is so close to central Ubud and yet we didn't hear any traffic at all. Beautiful sounds of nature all around, it is a haven. We felt so nourished at Alam Indah and we would love to stay here again. Thank you to the caretakers of Alam Indah, many blessings!

This trip report reflects my stay in early January 2024—admittedly two years overdue—but better late than never! LOL! Over the past two decades, this was my fourth stay at one of the Alam Indah hotels and my first time staying specifically at Alam Indah. As with my previous visits, it was a fantastic four-night stay. From the moment I made my reservation with Ayu to the time I checked out, the entire experience was smooth and delightful. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed with a beautiful flower bouquet, a thoughtful gesture that immediately set the tone for the stay. The hotel grounds were serene, beautifully maintained, and exuded a sense of peace throughout. Breakfast each morning was excellent, and the family’s restaurant, Laka Leke, just a few minutes away—offered a truly memorable meal, especially the campur cheri. I am deeply grateful to all the staff members, who clearly treat one another like family and extend that same warmth and care to their guests. Although Ubud has become increasingly touristy over the years, I was both delighted and relieved to find that the Alam Indah hotels continue to preserve their authentic Balinese character.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Alam Indah. It is hidden in tranquil jungle with a gorgeous pool. The staff are so very kind, and helped us out with every possible request. Thank you so much for such a special stay!

We had a marvellous week at Alam Indah. The property is in a quiet location South of Monkey Forest where there are quite a few restaurants and cafes. The walk into Ubud is easy along a bike/walking track or you can use the hotel shuttle but there is a lot of traffic. The rooms are set in a beautiful garden and are very spacious. Beautiful pool. There are a lot of steps to the pool so be aware! Breakfast is good and there is complimentary afternoon tea. The staff are friendly. The only reason for the loss of a star was no fridge in the room but we probably could have got one if we asked!

This was the best hotel we have been in Bali and ever. It was simply a great balance between everything, room, ambience, staff. The whole experience of staying here was great. We ended up eating more often and staying longer in the premises than exploring Ubud because it was so enjoyable. Arriving there and entering the tranquility was the start, he team was so welcoming, caring but not invasive, offered us a fresh juice while we check in. They always knew our names which adds a personal touch. The room had this colonial feel, it felt outdoorsy, very in touch with the nature but with some glass panels to keep the aircon and probably some little animals away. The furniture is not new but that’s what makes it charming. The breakfast, afternoon tea and lunch were all delicious. The pool and the walk leading there were perfect. The garden is breathtakingly beautiful, specially in the morning with the offerings light incense scent. There were also two other exit gates in case you don’t want to go out without having to greet any guest that might be in the entrance. We definitely recommend and will return.

We had to book this hotel at the last minute, and they organized everything for us right away. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a cold drink and our room was ready. The room had a stunning valley view, was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The staff were incredibly helpful — they responded to all our WhatsApp messages very quickly and supported us with anything we asked for. One of the biggest advantages was the free shuttle service to the city center. The breakfast was excellent, and we also had dinner at the hotel — it was not only delicious but also very reasonably priced. Huge thanks to the team for making our holiday even better!

Also our 2nd time booking with Alam Indah. Nestled in the monkey forest, this is probably the only hotel that has such a lush nature surrounding it, stepping in is as if you are in the jungle surrounded only by crickets, birds and the occasional monkeys. The staff is super friendly, the rooms with amazing view, super big, clean and with all amnesties needed. They also offer dinner and I really would recommend to try at least one evening because the way it is cooked, is as if your local Balinese mom has cooked it- super! I hope we can go back for 3rd time!

Lovely bungalows in a peaceful garden setting. Nice restaurants nearby. The location is very peaceful next to the monkey forest, a wonderful refuge from the madness of central Ubud. But the access to central Ubud is tricky. The hotel shuttle takes 30+ minutes through the heavy traffic. If you walk there's a narrow cut through the monkey forest but that is thronged with scooters all day.
