Excellent location. I was able to walk to the university and then to City Center. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The Park Bar just down the road has live Scottish music. There are many good restaurants close by. The subway is about a 15 minute walk. I booked the Skye room which is next to the breakfast room and lobby. I had no issues with noise. Love the rain shower!

We stayed for three nights, checking out on Christmas Eve. The guest house was not exactly what we had expected, but it was charming. Can certainly see why it’s called a guest house rather than a hotel. Lovely furniture throughout and comfortable amenities, though not quite spectacular. The breakfast was a very nice touch and we were really very happy with what was offered. The area was a bit sleepy, though there are some nice restaurants and bars nearby. It couldn’t be more convenient for getting to Kelvingrove gallery. I’d say the price seemed fair for what we received.

At first arriving at the Alamo we were a bit disappointed by how small the room was. We had gone for the most affordably priced room as the price range is high. The room was conveniently labeled 'intimate' on the brochure and website, we felt that the online presentation of the Alamo on the website gives the guest house a more luxury feel than what it is in reality. It was explained that the bathroom was outside of the room when we booked online which we did not mind much when staying, they provided lovely robes and the bathroom itself was nice with a deep bath. The woman who greeted us was super friendly but we did find it slightly unprofessional that she was wearing socks and it made it have an almost hostel like vibe. What was a bit disappointing was the breakfast, it came out undercooked and cold. It also took them an hour to bring it out and it appeared the staff were flustered and underprepared. We were the only ones in the breakfast room at the time so it really shouldn't have been that much of an undertaking to cook two breakfasts. We left feeling hungry and disappointed. However the staff member who served us apologised and offered complimentary cream tea to make up for it which we appreciated. I would still recommend staying here as I feel the breakfast was perhaps due to some fault in the kitchen and it seems we were just unfortunate in our experience. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and the room was cosy, quiet and comfortable. I would definitely stay again and was happy we had chosen the guest house. Also the standard of cleanliness was exceptional. The area where it's situated is a great too!

We won an Instagram competition which included a free night stay with bed and breakfast, we chose to stay in the Arran Suite, and it was AMAZING! Everything about that room! From the bed to the shower and bath facilities it was perfect! I can’t thank the members of staff enough for their kind hospitality while staying here, if you are looking for a place to stay while in Glasgow this comes highly recommended! Clean, affordable, Relaxing and just all round good vibes! Thank you once again! I promise you we shall be back!!

We stayed at Alamo Guest House and had mixed feelings. The location and the historic house have potential, but for the price (about £250 per night), we expected more. On the downside: you need to ring to get in, and there are only stairs to both entrance and rooms. Breakfast has to be reserved for a fixed time, which feels a bit restrictive. We unfortunately had a 24-hour flight delay and, although the booking was non-refundable, we provided proof of the cancellation. A goodwill gesture (like refunding the missed breakfasts) would have been appreciated, but nothing was offered. The rooms are carpeted throughout – which is a matter of taste – and we ended up in a basement room. While no “park view” was advertised, a basement wasn’t what we expected for this price. No bathrobe was provided, which would have been useful given the shared bathroom. The toilet flushed poorly (needing long, hard pressing of the button). Coffee at breakfast was very disappointing (just French press and not tasty). Overall, it felt expensive for what you get. On the positive side: the young woman at check-in and check-out was very friendly, as was the breakfast staff. The beds weren’t very large, but we slept well. Even from the basement, we had a partial view of trees. The bathroom was pleasantly warm, and the à la carte breakfast itself was tasty.

We can’t say enough about our stay at the lovely Alamo Guest House. The property is beautiful, on a peaceful street facing Kevingrove Park. Our room was spacious and immaculate. The hot breakfast was ample and well prepared. All staff members were accommodating - we try not to be high-maintenance guests but sometimes we are. I’d like to single out Annette for being singularly warm and helpful during our stay. We are seniors who do a lot of traveling, and I suspect Alamo will remain at the top of our list for a long time.

I was absolutely blown away with the service and accommodations offered by the Alamo. From the moment we arrived until we checked out, my family was treated with phenomenal kindness. The rooms are spacious and decorated in theme with the architectural style of the building. The included breakfast is cooked-to-order and was a delicious way to start the day. The hotel is tucked just outside of downtown Glasgow, offering a quiet retreat while visiting the city.

We stayed two nights at the Alamo Guest House. It was a clean, good sized room with comfortable bed. Quiet location within walking distance of many dinner choices. Close to bus stops and park. Our room was located in the lower level of the building and could use some updating. Breakfast was good. I do feel this property was a little over priced, but would recommend it if you get a good deal on it.

Yelp
The guest house was quaint and provided a great breakfast. It is across the street from Kelvingrove Park and a short walk from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It is also well-situated for accessing downtown Glascow. Unfortunately the toilet did not work well in our room (#4). The owner admitted that the toilet had been malfunctioning for some time and said that it could not be fixed during our stay; consequently, it was suggested that I use the public bathroom across the hall. The guest house manager offered to reduce the cost of the room to make up for the inconvenience of having to leave the privacy of my room for the hallway bathroom. Unfortunately, the inn's owner, at the time of our stay, did not honor the concession. When I contacted him about the matter, via email, he offered gibberish. I understand that the inn was sold after our stay and is under new management.

Yelp
Extremely hospitable owners and staff. Plush, comfortable rooms with flat screen tvs and elegant decor. Very comfy beds. The bathrooms are shared, but there are enough of them that it was never an issue where I had to wait. All in all, an excellent value. Utterly adorable breakfast room overlooking Kelvingrove park tennis courts. Nice breakfast spread with bacon, eggs, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, toast, juice, and more. In addition to a DVD collection that you can borrow and enjoy in your private rooms, there is a laptop for free email/internet that you can use during the day. A fat, happy kitty cat welcomes your pets when you come in from your day in Glasgow. That makes me feel at home! A huge thank you to Steve, who went out of his way to help us with a variety of needs. He really goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are happy and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Glasgow.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came and stayed at the Alamo for three nights in July 2010. We actually screwed up and arrived a day early but we were happily accommodated for the evening in one of the newly renovated, higher-end suites. The other two nights we were in a standard room which had also been upgraded with a new TV. During the whole stay the staff was very friendly and helpful. We never felt like we were putting anyone out by asking questions even when the staff was working. Things were clearly explained to us, such as when an emergency electrical problem would keep the power out for most of a day. The location is also really nice. You are across the street from Kelvingrove Park and Museum and easy walking distance of the U. of Glasgow. And with the museum right there you can easily hop on a tour bus to see the rest of Glasgow. Basically I have nothing to complain about. =)

Yelp
Stayed as a single chap in their cheapest room and it was superb. Shared bathrooms were elegant, plentiful and available when needed. Breakfast had great variety and very generous, staff were attentive and very polite, I would recommend to anyone as the perfect place to stay in Glasgow. Perfectly situated with easy access to the park, bus routes and underground.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed staying here in Spring 2007. The room was super clean and comfortable and the breakfast was filling and served in a relaxing parlor each morning. Steve, the proprietor, was very friendly and helpful in addressing all our needs and the location was great, with the amazing Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum right across the street and some cool restaurants and shops within walking distance. Recommended.

Yelp
Excellent guesthouse with just the right mix of period fixture and fittings, antique furniture but with all mod cons. It has an extensive DVD library to borrow from and wi-fi access to keep you connected. The four-poster beds are luxurious and guarantee a sound night's sleep. A very welcoming place and you immediately feel that you can come and go as you please. however, the most outstanding feature is the view out of the window, which takes in the panorama of the Art Galleries, the University and Kelvingrove park,
