Alamo Pancake & Steakhouse Grill

Great chicken soft tacos! The salsa was fresh and service was quick. I have dietary restrictions, and the server made some excellent recommendations to help me!

Everyone we take to says how good the food is, we thought we would give it a try. We were unfortunately disappointed. We ordered country fried steak and taco salad. The steak was good, the taco salad on the other hand was poor to say at best. There were maybe 8-9 little pieces of lettuce and half the shell was full of beans that they had mixed the chicken into. The shell was average and the middle and the bottom was awful soggy.

Have eaten here a few times.. French toast is always good. Ordered pancakes this go.. doughy. Undercooked. If your name includes a specific food, you should probably be exceptional at making said food. 100% dont recommend the pancakes..

We ordered a Denver omelette with hash browns and toast, chicken fried steak (gravy on the side) with eggs (over medium), hasbrowns, toast, and a short stack of pancakes. Server took a while to get to us after we were sat. She kept walking past saying “I’ll be right there”. Probably could’ve at least grabbed a drink order one of the 4 times. Finally came to get drink orders and we tried to order orange juice but they were out, opted for apple instead. Drinks came out and we started to order our breakfast and were told that they were out of biscuits. Cool…deliveries get delayed and you run out of some things. Not a huge deal, just frustrated because I came for biscuits and gravy. Food came out and my gravy wasn’t on the side as I asked, but instead smothered the majority of the plate on top of the chicken fried steak. I think it wasn’t rang up as on the side because we could see the notes on the receipt and it wasn’t on there. Eggs came out as over easy (runny whites), and I just sent those back and told her I didn’t want any more eggs. Everything else is purely opinion but the pancakes were overcooked and a little burnt, gravy was kinda slimy/gelatinous, breading in the chicken fried steak was falling apart, & everything was DRASTICALLY under seasoned. And to top it off, I went to wash my hands after eating and someone had used the toilet and didn’t flush. The tiny bathroom reeked of poop. The sweet tea was at least a 10/10.

The Alamo Grill is a mellow homey atmosphere. The staff friendly and attentive but not overbearing. I wasn’t forgotten about :). Then theres the food. I ordered the steak and eggs….medium rare and over easy. I have eaten in many restaurants and both of those requests seem difficult to get right…not here! Everything was cooked to perfection. Crispy, I say CRISPY hash browns, not those sad little piles of shredded white mush. They are a breakfast spot (7-2) but the menu is not all breakfast fare. When I pulled into the lot there were 4 vehicles, when I left the parking lot was almost full! Obviously a local favorite. If you are in Alamogordo look up the Alamo pancake and steakhouse grill…you won’t be sorry. The cost of my meal was very fair and easier on my wallet than many other places I have been to recently! Like I said, if you’re going to be in the area…sit down and enjoy an affordable delicious meal!!

Didn't care for this restaurant?I had driven by this location for the last five months as i'm new to alamogardo , and me and the wife stopped in and had breakfast and I honestly have to say next time I would just go down the street too fast food restaurant like mcdonald's. This place is always busy.That's why we thought the food would be good.It was not good.The eggs were very small.The bacon was so salty.I almost couldn't eat it , and I love salt. The pancakes were undercooked and soggy. Also I would recommend to the owner to do a remodel inside as the build up from years of use is a bit disgusting in my opinion. I get that.This is a local greasy spoon , but with a little bit of extra care on the food side and at least paint the inside of the restaurant area , this would be a better place in the future. I do not wish anything bad on this restaurant.I am just giving my honest opinion as I do in all of my reviews.I am a former business owner and only wanna see businesses thrive.Not go under.

We stopped here not knowing what to expect. It was close to thier closing but the food was excellent and plenty of it. The service is really great. My husband had steak and eggs, the steak was perfect. I had a Philly steak cheese sandwich, took half home. The price was really affordable and worth it. We will be back

Great little cafe for every meal. Wide menu comprised of Continental and New Mexican style dishes with something for everyone. Great breakfast burritos and the No. 5 combo is a favorite as well. Service is fast, and its inexpensive too. Probably top 3 breakfast spot in Alamogordo.

Food and ambiance good. Busy place on a sunday morning. But what separates them from rest is that they are the only quality place open on a sunday!!

It's actually become quite expensive to eat there, and not that great. I got four pieces of toast, a.k.a. two slices of bread and a little bowl of gravy for $16 plus tip and 3% credit card use fee and tax. If you order anything extra, queso, cheese, anything, the price goes up five or six dollars immediately. I ate for my last time there today. The fajita beef was so chewy. I'd have to spit it out and I made a little pile of meat and just finally quit eating it. I asked if they could help out on the bill since I didn't need it and they gave me a generous 10%. My reply was, well it's the last time you'll ever see me. I had to order a waffle so I could leave there at least four and not have to go to a 2nd place. Took about $32 to get a burrito and a waffle. The bacon is usually raw, the hashbrowns are never browned...... I don't have. I'll stay in business serving the crap that I got today.

What could improve? A short order cook who cares about the food he shoves or to the customer. 2-12-2025 was the day to go to Alamo Grill. Food was stone - freaking- cold. Ever have nachos with cold refried beans? Enchilada was canned chicken rolled in corn tortilla.

Really good food; nice portions; affordable; comfortable atmosphere; great service. I was visiting my family & friends for a week recently. I made sure to eat at the Alamo Grill twice within that week because everything was terrific. I would recommend the Huevos Rancheros.

Chicken sandwich was very bland needed spices. Ask for grilled onions which I didn't get. My friend's Philly cheese steak was not roast beef it was more like beef tips with onions and missing the mushrooms. Fries were good though .

I really enjoy eating here. The food is good, you get good portion sizes, and the staff are friendly and attentive. If you decided to eat here, be prepared to pay an extra 4% on your bill for using a credit card and an extra $2.50 for a side cup of sour cream.

Tried Alamo Grill today with a group of six at lunchtime. Seated fast with no wait and the food came out fast. Excellent hamburger. Everyone's food looked great. Only two complaints, waitress never offered refills and taquitos were soft not crispy. Will definitely return.

Horrible service. Dirty restrooms. Food sucked. The staff was forgetful forgot to refill coffee forgot food order forgot to take food order.

Found this place out of luck. Food is great and Christina was even greater. I was traveling through Almagorda and had car issues. Had to put my truck in the shop and Alamo Grill was so accomodating to let me use their patio for 2 hours while my vehicle was being serviced. I simply love good places and great people like this one!

Great place! The breakfast was delicious! I don't normally like chain places because it seems the food was prepackaged. So, when I tasted the homemade pancakes, eggs and bacon with a hot coffee it was like eating at home! I love supporting local, and was not disappointed here! The service was also amazing, as I never ran out of coffee! Great job!

Good food. Nice folks. But wow so slow out with the food, check, etc. you'd better have lots of time. If so it's great.

Are you an Alamogordo local? You'll be fine here. If however you are seeing this and passing through- keep right on going, you're not going to feel very welcome here. To our waitress- sorry for inconveniencing you by stopping in for breakfast, but it won't happen again. Simple order, eggs over easy, hash browns and toast. Wife had a blueberry waffle. Mine was fine. Nothing to write home about, but was ok. The blueberry waffle- a plain waffle with a dollop of cold blueberry jam on top. No syrup. That's it. Pretty humble pickings. Out waitress couldn't be bothered to check on us, fortunately some of the other staff got coffee refills and provided some syrup. After breakfast, the awkward wait for the check began. We finally gave up and went to the cashier. It was pretty obvious seeing the other customers service that they were known to the servers and treated accordingly. Not to worry, we won't be returning.

On par to a community coffee house. Friendly folk. Decent food to fill your hunger. Better than most restaurants in Alamo. Give them a try. I'm happy.

Haven't been here since it was Ramona's back in the 90's. Had the huevos rancheros for breakfast and it was outstanding. Maybe the best I've had in Alamogordo. I will definitely be coming back.

This place was authentic and amazing. We almost did not come because of some of the reviews but everything they said was so far from the truth. The waitress was so nice the cooks were incredible even the bathrooms were spotless! The food was like grandma was in there kitchen cooking with love. We are just passing through but we saved this place to visit twice a year!!!!!

Get your butt down here for some great green chili pork! The pork was tender and the sauce was fresh! You could just taste it. The staff were super friendly. The decor...I am just here for the food and not so much ambiance. You won't regret coming here!

I asked for Huevos Con Chorizo and was a pain in the butt about how I wanted it: Not scrambled. Overeasy eggs. Tortillas, not toast. Chorizo on the side. And what did I get?! Exactly what I wanted. The server was extremely pleasant. The food came out fast. The menudo was pretty good. All in all it was a good experience and the prices were fair! I'd recommend getting the more New Mexican / Mexican dishes here as opposed to getting the American dishes like pancakes/waffles. The waffles were just okay. There is plenty of seating and plenty of parking. Check it out :)

The pancakes are to die for! Get them. You wont be sorry!!! We had the Huevos Rancheros, which was very good.. and the Pancake combo... the pancakes... sigh...

The staff is friendly and attentive. There are two sections of dining. The front only has 2-3 person booths and tables. The back section has larger booths, but it was freezing cold the day we were there, everyone was complaining. They also have outside covered patio seating. They have a large menu with a variety of food. My dad ordered the liver and onions and said it was the best he'd ever had!

Food is below average. Service is garbage, be prepared to wait much longer than you can possibly expect. Not worth the wait .

Had the Chile rellenos for breakfast in both red and green and it was fabulous! I'm live in Texas and dearly miss my New Mexico food, this place hits the spot.

Great breakfast burritos. Small local eatery my daughter took me too while visiting her in Alamogordo. Good/friendly service, daily specials and right amount of food for breakfast to start the day.

Enchiladas to die for. Delicious food, good service, small mom and pop grill. Enchiladas and huevos rancheros is great!

We came here after a long day of dirt bike racing in the desert and it was pretty empty at dinner time. When we came thru at breakfast it was packed so we were surprised. They brought chips and salsa that were decent. We ordered their mozzarella sticks (I am a sucker for these) and they are so good. We all had steak for dinner and the steak was a good steak as an old school family dining. This hit the spot for us. It isn't going to win awards for best steak but it was deliciously on point for us tonight. I was disappointed at first to not have the option of a baked potato but the fries pleased me greatly. Definitely would eat here again.

I have never had such horrible service in a mom and pop type restaurant! There were little kids running around the restaurant which appeared to belong to the servers working there, I paid 15 dollars for a Philly steak omelette that look like it was made by a five-year-old. It was burnt and disgusting! I'm not complainer, but this was absolutely by far the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in Alamogordo! Thanks again for ruining my breakfast, and my experience at your restaurant!

Service was great! Food was okay, almost too expensive for quality. They serve breakfast all day , locals seem to be drawn to it.

Coming back from quarantine in Cloudcroft. Needed to stop for a bite and to use the restroom. This restroom was super clean by the way. Food is 3 stars. Great waitresses ups that to 4! It might have stayed there except... During this stupid pandemic we are staying away from folks for the most part, so we were not real happy with one server not wearing a mask or them requiring customers to wear one in. C'mon! You are a food establishment...stop seating people next to each other and put on a mask. Breakfast all day. Mom always said it was hard to ruin breakfast. And my huevos a la Mexicana was fine for scrambled eggs and rice and beans. Nothing I couldn't have made at home. Steak tampiquena was tasty but the Muenster cheese was odd. And the chef's sauce was a red sauce. First time to have it with a red sauce. Great chips and salsa. Super service - except for the no mask part. Easy parking and on and off the main drag.

I don't know what's happened to Alamo Grill , but we had the worst breakfast ever there yesterday.. The place was an ice box and every time the doors opened it got even colder. My wife got a chicken fried steak and eggs, she said the gravy smelled like wet dog hair and didn't taste very good and her eggs where so tuff and rubbery that they were not worth eating, even though she ask for soft scrambled eggs, they weren't even close. I got the huevos rancheros , they were warm, not hot and all I could taste was cheese, though I asked for no cheese. We will not be back and suggest you consider some where else to eat. I don't understand why the Restaurants in Alamogordo think people should eat in their heavy coats, no matter which restaurant you go to, they are like meat lockers inside. I can really understand why the restaurants are doing so crappy in Alamogordo and Tularosa, they don't care about the patrons. If they cared they would have more patrons and more money coming through their doors.

We found this place driving back from White Sands. Our waiter was fun and very accommodating, onion rings are amazing here!! It was filled with locals so that's a good sign. Philly cheese steak, burgers were great too....they only small tiny negative was they forgot my pickles on my grilled ham cheese and pickle sandwich - but oh well, we cleaned our plates anyway.

Not sure if this is a breakfast joint, a steakhouse or a Mexican food place, but it is delicious food, reasonably priced and served by friendly people. I had a taco salad and it was fresh and tasty without being over the top spicy. I enjoyed it.

Terrible service: I've been to this establishment before and admittedly the service isn't why you stop here, we have never had good luck with that. Today put us off for a good while. Walked in and were acknowledged by the staff, they wiped off the tables we sat down at and then never spoke to us again. 15 minutes of waiting, my wife had gotten up and grabbed some menus we knew what we wanted and were just waiting for a server, saw two other tables be seated and receive their drink order as well as an old couple just walk out as all the other tables were dirty and unserviced. There were 3 tables seated and eating when we got there, Alamogordo is not known for great customer service but this was the worst I've seen in the 6 years of living here.

On our way down from Ruidoso, NM we decided to try a local spot with many cars outside. This is the place. Fast and friendly very good flavor. The food is hot, the servers are friendly and even is a vintage restaurant they have taken care of it. The bacon is crunchy and sauce on point. The steak has a great flavor and the huevos rancheros are a great option. Is open seating, which makes it friendlier at the time you step in.

Absolutely amazing service. The ladies that served us were so nice and friendly, and checked back often. We stopped in for breakfast which ended up being delicious. They forgot my eggs but quickly got it corrected. What is important was that the food tasted good, they had a great selection of options, and the service was great! Will definitely return if I'm back in the area.

Service: outstanding considering there was two girls working and one was hustling way more than the other. Food: I had the green chile omelette. It was straight up overcooked and not hot when I got it. It needed more chilis. They need to use real cheese instead of processed cheese. The hash browns were undercooked (borderline raw). He had the Saturday special of 8oz steak and eggs. He asked for medium rare and got rare. Eggs were perfect sunny side up and the hash browns were like mine. Good coffee.

Small restaurant with seating for about 60. The waitress, Ceres was on point with the salsa and chips, the drinks as well. Food looked good but was a little disappointing. I had the Steak a la Mexicana, with refried beans and rice. Overall I give it a 7 out of 10 for today. Maybe on Friday the fish fry might be better.

Fish Fry Friday is good. Staff is friendly and the fish is nicely done. Big pieces of real fish and not overly breaded. The sautéed veggies, fries and Texas Toast come with the all you can eat fish dinner too.

The people who manage this restaurant did their best to deal with the issue that occurred when me and my elderly mother went here. We ordered our food correctly over the phone. When we got the food it was not correct. We returned all of the food and Mandy told us she would bring it out to us when it was ready( a beef and cheese burrito and eggs and ham breakfast plate). We waited in the parking lot 35-45 minutes. My mom called and was understandably upset we were waiting so long. The waitress Mandy then brought us out the food we originally brought in due to not being correct and basically told us they were not going to fix it or refund us.

Great little local restaurant! Went there for breakfast and food was delicious. Service was also excellent. I would definitely recommend to any visitors!

While the staff is friendly, I asked to try a small bowl of Meundo to see if I'd like it. Our server said she would go check. She came back and the manager said no hat she would have to charge me for full bowl. I didn't want to pay for a big bowl if I didn't like it. Oh well they lost out on a sale. Okay round 2...or should I say strike 2. Again our server was very friendly but the food....blah. I order pancakes and they were stale and not even warm. Well I don't know if I can do a round 3. Don't waste your time.

One of my go to breakfast places. Service was practically non-existant. Sat down by myself-ordered huevos rancheros. After I sat a 3top and a 4top came in and sat in adjoining sections. About 10 minutes for the waiter to come by and take my order. The 3 and the 4 were done shortly after. So after about 25minutes the 3top and the 4top were served. my server...crickets. I work in a restaurant... I'm a cook. I know this was messed up. My order should have taken 5 to 10 minutes tops based on how busy they were...slow. So I waved down the server from the next section- asked her about my order. She came right back with it. My waiter...not present. I left it on the table, gave her the cost plus a good tip and asked her to cash me out and left. My waiter was a clown - should f-off out of there. My worst experience there ever!

Food was okay but the lack of staff was very noticeable. The two waitresses had to be cashiers, busboys, servers, and help in back, all with a FULL house. This is a regular thing. The owners need to hire more people and stop treating those hard working girls like slaves.

We stopped here for breakfast after driving 1000 miles. Our waitress was fantastic, we had two screaming children with us and we were all tired. She handled ha with grace, and our food was actually really good. It's just a diner type place with a diner menu with a NEW MEXICO flair with most everything having green Chilis or jalapeños. We enjoyed our stop, and will stop again for coffee.

I always forget this place is here, I don't go nearly enough! Great food and service; I really like the different kinds of food on the menu. I like to take mixed groups here where one person wants breakfast, another wants classic diner fare and some (me, always) wants really good New Mexico Mexican food.

Kind of hole in the wall, yet good. Service was fast and friendly, my burger was very good. Steak fries were hot and fresh; I love steak fries! I walked out stuffed for under ten bucks... lots of locals here. At the time I went there it was a sea of cowboy hats all around. Tasty food that won't break the bank, ample with lots of good service.

Great all-around local restaurant that hits the spot when you aren't craving the standard mainstream restaurant meal. Their menu consists of burgers, Mexican, fish...think home style with Mexican mixed in. I have to admit I always eat the same thing because it is delicious - the Avocado & Bacon Cheeseburger! This burger is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten and the home style fries (the ones with the skin still on them) are great. Yeah, it's greasy but I'm not eating a salad. I've had the onion rings too and they are good. My wife gets the Mexican taco plate and their tacos are great as well. Sometimes folks forget about the rice and beans but they are just as important. The rice here is always cooked perfectly (not under cooked like you often find) and has a great flavor. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a hometown place and that's just the way we like it. I've never noticed anything dirty which would definitely lower my review. Great place and I would recommend it for families that need to satisfy varying tastes.

I've always enjoyed the Alamo Grill and mainly call and place take out orders. Today I called and asked to place an order and was asked to hold because it was their lunch rush, 5 minutes later she came back on the phone and asked if I could call back because it was busy there! Really girl? Left on hold than told to call back later? My money isn't good enough anymore I guess! Dianne W

It's tough to find a great Mexican-American resturant in Alamogordo..until now. Having grown up in CA and having lived in TX, I expected NM to have their own flair for Mexican cuisine, and they do. Nearly ALL of them in ALamogordo miss the mark. Alamo Grill DOES NOT! They are the ONLY Mexican restaurant in Alamogordo that I will eat at, otherwise I will stay home and cook my own version. Never had a bad meal or experience at this place. AND, they have Mexican menu items seldom seen elsewhere in Alamogordo, like Tripas tacos, and homemade Posole. Alamo Grill is not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it is the best in Alamogordo.

Food was great. Chips and salsa brought to you soon as you sit. Cerena, my waitresses, was fast and helpful. I was craving a country fried steak and it hit the spot. Definitely recommend.
