"I observed that on July 20, 2025 Alaska Airlines suffered a significant IT outage that forced a system-wide ground stop for both Alaska and its regional subsidiary Horizon Air; the airline said “a critical piece of multi-redundant hardware at our data centers, manufactured by a third-party, experienced an unexpected failure,” which impacted several key systems and necessitated keeping aircraft in position. Although flight safety was never compromised, the outage produced more than 150 flight cancellations and the carrier warned additional disruptions were likely as it repositioned aircraft and crews; Alaska offered a flexible travel policy for passengers with flights through July 23." - Jessica Puckett
