Alaska Backcountry Cottages

What a perfect cottage for our first few nights in Alaska. The mountain views are breathtaking and we enjoyed the patio chairs to take in the scenery. We felt like we were alone, despite the other cottages being occupied. Linda was super responsive when we reached out with questions. The cottage was very clean and decorated perfectly. The beds were also very comfortable. We also booked a side by side tour during our stay, which was amazing. It was so nice being on site and just a few steps away from the meeting place for the tour. The cottage was also stocked with water, coffee, snacks, and breakfast items, which was extremely helpful. They also have a keurig machine for coffee. We will be back next time we visit Alaska.

I have been to Palmer a few times and the Alaska Backcountry Cottages are by far the best place we have stayed. The cabins was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The staff was attentive and friendly. They even took the time to stack a few groceries for us. We will definitely be back.

Cannot recommend this place enough!! Austin was an amazing guide on our all day tour! They took care of EVERYTHING!! We may not have had the best weather but we saw Alaska's amazing beauty! We also enjoyed staying in their cabins...once again they thought of everything!!

When my friend and I started to research our trip we stumbled upon this gem. The cottage was perfect ... in a location that was outside of the city. We enjoyed our stay and would encourage friends that may visit Alaska to stay here. They were very attentive if something was needed, they even provide some items in the kitchen for breakfast. It is perfectly nestled between some of the most beautiful scenery that Alaska has to offer in Palmer. If you are looking for adventure you can book on an ATV excursion or take a helicopter ride. If these adventures are not your thing that is perfectly ok also .. you can go north towards Denali, south towards Seward or East towards Glenallen. There are plenty of places to enjoy everthing Alaska has to offer within driving distance. We even were lucky to see a bull moose not far from the property!

I stayed here recently and it was a wonderful place. I flew in from Minnesota. It was my first time in Alaska. The cottage was very nice and had everything I needed. The view from my porch was amazing. Beautiful mountains. On my last day I had a visitor. A rather large bull moose. It came out of the woods behind my cottage. It took me by surprise! I took a little video of it and a few photos. I'll have that memory forever! Linda was great! And communicated with me to keep me fully informed. I would definitely stay here again if I were to return to Alaska.

We loved the cabins. They were very clean, comfy and cozy. They were also very close to where you met for the ATV adventure. The mountains were beautiful in the background. My negatives would be the cabins were all right next to each other so you really didn’t have privacy. If you were out on the porch your neighbors could hear everything. Also between you and the mountains was the ATV building and the helicopters.

Unbelievably beautiful view from these cabins. The cabins are lovely and have all the conveniences of home. They have several excursions on site including snowmobile tours. Beds were very comfortable with plenty of blankets for warmth. Our cabin had 2 queen beds in a loft plus a queen bedroom downstairs. The site is far away enough from city lights for great star viewing but close enough for a quick run for groceries. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.

In hopes of seeing the Auroras we wanted to stay further from city lights but close enough to do things in Anchorage and a boat tour in Seward. The Backcountry Cottages were amazing. The owners make every effort to make sure you have everything you need for easy check in and are incredibly responsive. The cabin is very clean and well equipped and the grounds have beautiful mountain views. We came in on a late flight and Linda was kind enough to leave a few breakfast items for us which was so thoughtful. The weather did not cooperate for the Auroras but we are so glad we stayed here instead of a hotel and hope we can make it back one day!

This place is very beautiful on a grand scale. My wife and I visited from very scenic Hawaii therefor it says a lot. We are definitely staying here again on any future visits to Alaska.

We stayed here in June 2024 in the Spruce Cottage. It is a great place to stay with a washer and dryer. The cottage was perfect for what we were looking for in an out of the way place that was very peaceful. The views were great too. We will definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to be guests at Backcountry Cottages. Matti and family are amazing hosts. They gave us great local alternative dining recommendations. The cabins are fresh, clean and stylish. Out our window this morning was a moose. Before dinner we had a neighbor guest arrive by helicopter. What a site. We'll be back, Thank you Matti!.

These cottages are incredible! I did an atv tour to the Knick Glacier with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours and afternoon stayed in there new cottages. The view from the porch is spectacular! Dan and Matti are awesome hosts. The booking was super easy and they were all ready when I arrived. These cottages are brand new and very clean. They even had a washer and dryer in the unit I stayed. If your visiting Anchorage make the short drive to Palmer and stay here. Also book an adventure with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours. The tour to the glacier is a must. Highly recommend.

Our group stayed at these cottages for 4 nights, we rented Pine and Forget Me Not. Both were exceptional. The interiors were spotless, pre stocked with some morning essentials and included pretty much everything we needed for our stay. Linda coordinated everything for us and did a great job, she made sure we knew how to get to the cabins, how to access the property and checked on us to make sure we made it in ok. My daughter also left one of her air pods behind and Linda and the housekeeper helped us find it and mailed it to us. Great job all around, great stay, exceptional service!

Great place to relax after an ATV Adventure Tour! Everything looks new in the house and it was spotless. Very comfortable beds. Check in and out was also easy. Highly recommend!

I love staying at Backcountry Cottages. The view is spectacular of the mountains all around.I stayed in many b&bs hotels this summer all over the US from Georgia Indiana Washington and all the states in between traveling and being back in Alaska with Backcountry Cottages was one of the best experiences I had had all summer. I highly recommend anyone who's looking for a place to stay for their vacation the hosts Linda and Rob are very accommodating. I just needed a place to relax and chill out away from all the hustle and bustle and commune with nature and God this place certainly fulfilled my needs.

Very nice! Very clean! Very comfy. People who work here are very friendly. The laundry facilities are brand new. Worth a five star rating.
