Ancora Cortina (Cortina d'Ampezzo, Alps / Dolomites) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"An 1826 original on Corso Italia, its sky-blue shutters open to interiors reshaped by Vicky Charles with owner Renzo Rosso. Thirty-eight rooms and suites include the top-floor Ancora Suite, complete with a broad terrace facing the Dolomites. Expect dark woods, custom pieces, sheepskin and stone fireplaces, plus galleries of vintage Cortina photography and stacks of art books. A Viennese-style terrace dining room serves alpine comfort dishes; there’s a multi-level spa, a gym, and the phone-free Brave Club for cocktails and a suitable soundtrack. Made with a mix of heritage and intention, Ancora feels less like a revival than a return to form: Cortina’s old soul, seen through a sharper lens." - Tablet Hotels

I will start with the positives: the hotel has an excellent location. Easy to be in the heart of Cotina within a few steps. The continental breakfast had a great variety to choose from and the latte macchiato was delicious. |My issues with the hotel started upon arrival. Because of construction, you could not reach the hotel by car. We schlepped our bags through a blocked off parking lot, over railings, and along corridors to get to the lobby. There was never any mention about construction in any of the information about the hotel. |We were shown to our room, which did not look like what I had seen online. The room was shabby and poorly furnished. The bed was squished into a small half blocked- off room and didn’t even have bedside tables. Woodwork was dented and scratched and the rest of the furnishings looked like Soviet era style chairs. I was so depressed thinking this was where we were staying. |I brought up pictures from online and went down to reception and showed them the picture and asked where these rooms were. We were told they were in another part of the hotel and that we could move if we wanted to |We ended up moving to the newer room, however there was no shampoo or conditioner offered in the bath, which seemed wrong given this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Not the best experience.

Great location, but the rest was a letdown. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, which is super convenient. But beyond that, the experience was disappointing. We stayed one night, and honestly, that was enough. The room felt worn out and dusty, despite being “cleaned.” Air conditioning is centrally controlled, so during a heatwave, the room stayed hot all night—sleep was impossible. Parking was €40, and it actually dripped rust onto our white car, ruining the paint. We spent ages trying to park with a staff member directing us from one spot to another, only to be told later that we had to move it again. Staff weren’t helpful at all—quite dismissive. They told us the lift wasn’t working, but it clearly was. Breakfast was below average: stale croissants, questionable sausages, and overall nothing fresh or appealing. Wouldn’t recommend and definitely won’t return.

Stayed one night due to the location. However, booked a room with two beds and instead received a pullout bed instead. Bathroom had mold and cracked ceilings. Overall dated and musty smell, though clean. The staff were indifferent, but worse is that I left my expensive headphone in the room and there has been no response to my attempts to reach them. Overall not worth the cost and definitely not a 4 star experience. Closer to a 1 or 2 star.

Horrible parking system. Already 40 euros to park but getting inside the parking lot is just impossible. We couldn’t get inside until a staff came to us and opened the gates for us. Even after getting in, the parking lot was terrible in quality and cars were blocking us from parking. After we finished parking, I realized that the hotel itself was just as bad. Although the hotel tried to prove itself as a 4 star hotel with fancy and intricate decorations, the base of the hotel was very old. When we called the staff about the problems we had in the hotel, they simply hung up. Would avoid at all costs.

If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible service, hotel is incredibly aged. There are far better options elsewhere. To top it all off, they withheld 400euros from me after a booking mix up (where I cancelled a duplicate room booking within 5minutes of making the booking and 4 months before arrival). Absolutely disgraceful management. I cannot stress how much I recommend avoiding this place.

Horrendous overall. Started with rude hotel concierge. So indifferent, unhelpful, and condescending. That should be enough to stay away. Hotel staff should be absolutely ashamed. Especially those at the front desk. Isn't part of your job to help people? Can't even ask for basic directions. So much construction happening outside. Thin walls, I could hear people talking late into the night, even with earplugs. Parking is the worst I've ever experienced. 40 euro per night and the garage is difficult to navigate. So much added stress. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere. There are so many other options.

I booked this hotel in Cortina as it was mentioned as a 4-star property, but unfortunately the experience did not match the rating. One of the male staff members was very rude and not showing no sense of customer friendliness. On top of that, the hotel is currently under construction, which was not clearly mentioned beforehand. Overall, very disappointing for a place that claims to be 4-star.”

Access is impossible. There is major building work in front of the hotel which means you cannot unload from a car. Access for anyone with limited mobility is not possible. No lift from the car park.|They do not answer the phone. Staff surly and arrogant.|Very dated. Old and not up current expectations inside. Certainly not 4 star.|No mention of building works when booking|They then wanted to charge us €40 to use the car park|Avoid at all costs
