"In a town rich with bars, brewpubs, and vaguely '90s-era seafood bistros, the Albatross is like a breath of Portland-fresh air. That is to say, the décor and menu lean hipster, as do the diners. Neither hush-hush serious like a fine dining spot, nor loud and boisterous like a bar, this Astoria restaurant straddles the line between neighborhood tavern and destination must-eat. You can stop by for oysters and a drink, fuel up with a burger and a beer, or make it a big night out with a fancyish dinner of braised rabbit or dry-aged steak with chanterelles. Albatross gives you a true taste of the Northwest , both from the atmosphere and the menu." - Danielle Centoni

Glad to find this gem. Great bar and dining area and outside tables. Would go back for the crab Deviled egg! Yum. Also pictured are the hush puppies and gnocchi. I would love to try everything on the menu. It was pretty quiet on a Tuesday night. Can't wait to come back again!

Went in on Valentine’s Day night and since there was no wait, and also no one else next to us, we were excited to be able to get in and have a nice night (though maybe we should’ve taken that as a warning sign?). Before coming, we had heard good things and had this place recommended to us by friends. Honestly, as soon as we walked in, it was a beautiful atmosphere and our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! Though, she did become harder to track down as time went on. We were seated right by the door and because it was cold and the door kept opening and closing, we tried to see if we could maybe hunt her down and ask if we could move down a table or two to an open one, but by the time she finally came around, other people started coming in and ended up filling those tables, so we unfortunately just had to eat with our jackets on. Also, and the main thing, we ordered within probably the first 10/15 minutes of us being there, but didn’t get our food until about an hour/hour and a half after we had ordered. We realized that there were people coming in after us and leaving before us, and while they may have sat up at the bar and had quicker service, it was kind of disheartening, and that’s when we had checked our phone and saw how much time had passed. He ordered oyster shooters that arrived about 10 minutes before our food arrived, ordered some more in that moment the oysters came, but the rest didn’t come until about 30 minutes after our food did. As a cherry on top, they also ended up charging us for an extra one, but by that time, we were so tired of being there for 2 hours and didn’t want to try to hunt down our waitress to make her fix the total and then have to wait for her to bring it back to wait for her to take it again and etc. I don’t know, I had just had such high hopes, and to be fair, the food WAS good but was just not really worth the wait or the price in my opinion, because we ended up leaving still very hungry. We both honestly regret going here, and just wish we had waited on a wait list at another restaurant, because we probably would’ve been warmer, gotten our food quicker, and paid less for more than what we got here. All around, I don’t recommend coming here in the slightest. Maybe if the bar is quicker or for a quick drink? But there are many other options downtown that I think are more worth your time and money.

Servers got a little slammed in the middle of our meal and had to pull themselves out of the weeds but the food is very good and the drinks were very good too. They servers did get us everything we asked for but the wait took a little while. Their bar program is quite strong but stick to the menu. Also, you won't be sad you did. All in all a very solid experience.

Had amazing happy hour food here! Service was great, despite what other reviews say. Everything was flavored incredibly. Loved the dark atmosphere. Duck wings and hush puppies were delicious.

Nice atmosphere, if not a bit generic. Average restaurant. Good service. The real problem is that the menu is priced way too high. 8 oysters and two drinks for $60 with tip. Poor value. A good start would be taking the bread and butter off the appetizer menu and just provide it with the meal like a normal restaurant.

We got there late, thankfully they were still open! The atmosphere is absolutely stunning. I love the decor-it’s hip, dark, spooky and everything I want in a night spot. My drink was alright, the cocktail list is very hipster and the food was tasty. I would go back next time I am in Astoria.

Loved the look and feel of the place. The 2 cocktails I had were good. I would have loved to try their tomato soup because that's one of my favorite should, but unfortunately my friends and I ate somewhere else before stumbling upon albatross & co.
