I've been coming here for years. Since 2012. The negative points I've seen in other reviews might have some truth in it. Depending on how and with who you interact. Remember also that it's a hostel vibe. My experience always has been great. Good contact with the owner, employers. Nice basic breakfast included. So far still a little swimming pool. Very nice atmosphere. Super location. Segure safes/lockers. Enough places to charge your phone. Possibility for day use.

I am currently staying at the hostel and would like to highlight some concerning issues I've encountered. I've observed staff members complaining and swearing at guests, including an incident where they reacted poorly to complaints about the lack of ice. It raised a question for me: is the fridge intended for guests or staff? Whenever a guest raises a concern, the staff often respond defensively and seem offended, displaying a lack of professionalism. I noticed that some staff members, particularly the cleaner, make faces and engage in inappropriate behavior with guests. I even witnessed them sitting at the reception for an extended conversation while the rooms awaited cleaning. The cleanliness of the facilities is also alarming. The floors are rarely mopped, the toilets have a strong odor, and with so many women in the hostel, it can be quite uncomfortable. The rubbish bins are overflowing, and the kitchen is greasy. Towels and bedding are dirty and stained, and the fridge is too small for the number of guests. When I requested the removal of old food that was moldy, the cleaner responded angrily and eventually put it back in after I had removed it myself. During breakfast, I even noticed her speaking about me with another staff member. Not to mention the pool, which is never clean. They tell each guest who checks in the same story, but the reality is that the pool is consistently dirty. I have videos documenting everything. It seems that the staff could greatly benefit from training in customer service, as their lack of manners has made my stay uncomfortable. I will definitely think twice before booking with them again.

Albergaria Hostel – A Balance of Cost and Compromise “Not all that glitters is gold, and not every stay is as serene as the beach it promises.” Our visit to Albergaria Hostel in Fortaleza was a mixed bag, a delicate interplay between affordability and unavoidable shortcomings. Let’s begin with the high point—the people. Every member of the staff was courteous, attentive, and genuinely invested in ensuring we had the best experience possible. They are the heart and soul of the hostel, and their dedication deserves commendation. The property itself offers two types of accommodation: shared dormitories and private suites. We opted for the suites, where the experience was, at best, functional. The room was adequate, the air conditioning worked—a blessing in Fortaleza’s relentless summer heat—but the design left something to be desired. The window, opening to the corridor where everyone passes, made it impractical to leave it open, leaving the air stagnant. Some rooms, we noted, had windows facing the street, which seemed like a better option. Cleanliness was a point of contention. The linens were visibly worn, not dirty per se, but marked by signs of overuse and insufficiently robust laundering. The bathroom needed attention—a broken sink countertop and a toilet with a subpar seat detracted from the experience. The shower, unsurprisingly for the region, lacked hot water, but that’s an accepted norm in Fortaleza and didn’t weigh heavily in our judgment. A tiny cockroach decided to join us on the final day of our stay, a nuisance but not enough to ruin our spirits, as we were already preparing to leave. The amenities beyond the room were a tale of neglect. The photos advertising the hostel showcase a once-inviting leather sofa, now cracked and aged beyond its charm. The pool, potentially a highlight in the near-equatorial heat, was dirty and appeared abandoned. A clean pool year-round should be a given in Fortaleza, but it seems this basic expectation was overlooked. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Simple doesn’t need to mean joyless, but here it did. A slice of bread paired with a thin slice of cheese and ham, along with fruit and overly sweet industrial juices, felt unimaginative and indifferent. Fortaleza, blessed with an abundance of fresh, affordable tropical fruits, has no excuse for serving powdered juice. Even the cake, likely industrially sourced, lacked flavour or care. Breakfast was the same for dormitory guests and suite occupants, and while the low-cost dormitories might justify the minimal offering, it felt far below par for suite guests. The hostel’s location, however, is a saving grace. Just six minutes from Iracema Beach, it’s well-situated in a safe and accessible area. While Fortaleza’s nightlife includes the occasional presence of working girls at nearby corners, it doesn’t seem to infringe on the overall sense of security or convenience. Finally, it’s worth noting the excellent cost-benefit ratio. For the price, it delivers just enough to be a viable option for budget travellers. It’s clear the value lies in its affordability, and with a bit more care, it could be a standout choice for visitors to Fortaleza. Rating: 2/5 The Albergaria Hostel is functional but flawed. For those who value affordability and proximity to the beach above all else, it’s a reasonable option. But for a stay that feels truly welcoming and comfortable, improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and dining are essential.

I arrived and according to the staff my reservation was'not allocated' which meant I didn't have a room. Another guest told me that the same happened to him. I called booking.com and nothing was solved. The lady in the front desk tried to call several places around but they were all booked out or were going through a renovation. I was tired and hungry so I ended up staying in the shared dorm. The bed was uncomfortable and the showers have mold, toilets lacked hand soap, and were dirty. Terrible experience from beginning to end. Breakfast was two pieces of bread and half slice of ham and half slice of cheese, some cake and coffee.

Not recommended. Towels and bed sheets were plenty of stains. There was just cold water in the shower - not option of switching to hot water. The guy at the reception wasn't kind, not making us feel welcome at all. There was no water avaiblable in the breakfast which is a minimum service in any accomodation you pay for, specially in a city with no drinking water. Just good location near the coast.
