Albergaria Stop | Hotel, Alojamento no Gerês

This was a quaint little hotel in need of a good bit of TLC on the decoration and maintenance front. It clearly a labour of love for the family who run it and they gave superb service which I could not fault. we had a bit of a disaster with our room key - well it wasn't a key it was card and that was the disaster. The whole card key system had probably seen better days and sadly the card to our room packed in and we got locked out completely - no red light no green light nothing - totally dead. The system failed - the master key card didn't work either. The poor owners had to break in by smashing the balcony window to open the doors and we had to be moved to another room. These things happen and we honestly didn't mind because we were so well looked after but I felt so sorry for the owner and his lovely wife because that is expense they will not be able to invest elsewhere. The rooms are bright and airy and it is probably best not to lock the shutters and balcony doors just in case this happens again. There is nothing wrong with a good old fashioned yale key. Less is more. Anyway we appreciated how well we were looked after.

Sadly our hostess seemed to be having a bad day when we arrived. No welcome- just the keycard to our room and instructions on when we could eat dinner and have breakfast. Room was compact but OK with balcony, twin beds and tiny shower. The pool looked to contain green water - we didn't explore further Clean enough but a rather sad experience all round. Wifi was excellent everywhere!|This is still out of season in this part of Portugal so perhaps things improve later in year |

100% recommend this place. Perfectly located and ran by a lovely family. Carlos and his sister Carla will make sure you have a happy experience and stay at their place.

Good family Hotel with helpful and dedicated staff.||||the hotel also has a good traditional restaurant and and a fantastic pool. ||||The room was cleaned everyday (good service) but an air conditioned should be installed. In the summer, during the day the temperature rises to 30º and at night the temperature drops almost 20º.||||Cool place to settle and discover the Gerês National park area.

Price is reasonable for the restaurant not as good as it used to be but you have to take COVID into consideration. Otherwise of your looking for a decent prices meal you can't go wrong with this place..

the location is amazing!! they could have wifi on all the buildings,though and improve on other things such as shower taps... but it was a positive experience :)

We had a wonderful dinner with local products. Very good
