This is a lovely, intimate hotel, elegantly old-fashioned, set in a 19th century building with a rather grand staircase. Our second floor room was on the small side (we knew that before booking by looking at the website) but very pretty and homely, with nice decorative features and good value for money. The bed was comfortable, there was generous storage space for clothes and luggage, the aircon worked well, which was important because of the 37C heatwave, the bathroom was well-appointed and the room was quiet - it faced the back of the building, although it's possible that front-facing rooms, overlooking the street, might be noisier. The TV was very small, but who wants to watch TV when there is so much to see and do in Bologna? The staff were friendly and efficient, helpful with restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was ok but ample. Because of the shape of the building, the lift operates only from the first floor reception upwards, which means that there are steps to climb - so may not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. The hotel is located in the very heart of Bologna, in the historic Quadrilatero district, which is a paradise for foodies, as well as being extremely well placed for exploring the city.
